Building extensions

The theme of the 2nd edition proposed questioning extensions in architecture. The modification of the living space, be it interior or exterior, is a direct reaction to our needs and inherently a response to the political, economic and cultural situation that make these changes possible. From the simple extension of a balcony, the renovation of a façade or the customisation of public spaces, all are decisions that reflect on the relationship between built space and people's needs. Even if the inhabitants of urban centres are limited in their ability and perspective to understand a complex system such as a city, they are able to find solutions to global challenges, responding in a timely manner to their specific needs. The ability to adapt and modify built spaces is a natural human response and has a valuable potential to extend architecture both spatially and functionally.
