Iran celebrated, Israel celebrated the end of the war, and Gaza waits and calls, but no one listens. The war between Iran and Israel is over, but the war in Gaza is not over. Children are still dying, families are still being displaced, walking long distances, homes are still being demolished over the heads of those inside, and injustice still exists. Also, don't forget that hunger has never left people, but more importantly, Tumblr users, listen to me with your hearts. I always write posts asking you to participate with me and donate to my family, but unfortunately, I only find a few who do. I never thought I would write these words… 😔

I never imagined waking up to endless screams,

Running barefoot through smoke and fire,

Searching for my mother among the rubble,

Only to find nothing but silence… a heavy silence telling me that no one will answer me anymore. 💔

In one moment, everything changed.

Our home became a memory, my mother’s embrace became the past,

And my father's face, now absent, is the last thing I hold in my memory.

They’re gone… and left my heart burdened with unspoken grief. 😢

But despite everything, we are still here… trying.

I survived with my younger siblings.

Yes, we survived… but who are we after survival?

Children without warmth, without a roof, with no place to return to.

We were displaced to an unknown place, carrying a bag empty of everything… except pain. 🥀

We slept in the open, waking every morning to a life that holds nothing for us,

But despite everything… we keep trying. 💪

My home was a safe haven for my children, but now it's nothing but rubble. The army forced us to flee under the constant bombardment, and all I could do was hold my children. Yousef suffered a broken arm from shrapnel, and we had to undergo surgery amidst the horror. Bilal and Maher were supposed to be playing, learning, and dreaming... but the war stole their childhood.

Today, we have no food, no water, and no safety. Prices are skyrocketing, and we have no income or any assistance. My children are terrified all day from the sound of rockets and explosions.

There is no safe place left, and we can't even afford a tent to sleep in.

All I ask today is a moment of compassion:

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

From my place here in Ireland, I am the only hope for my large family trapped in Gaza, but that hope is fading fast without your continued support.

Family is everything to me. I could NEVER imagine life without them. Without my elderly parents, without my sweet nieces and nephews. When I evacuated Gaza, I did so with one mission: to sustain and save my family. They are still enduring unimaginable horrors under constant bombardment, running for their lives from one place to another.

My name is Abedmajed, and I live in Gaza with what remains of my once large and loving family.

In a single missile strike, we lost over 25 members of our family. They were not just names. They were mothers, daughters, sons, grandparents — people we shared meals with, laughed with, and built dreams with.

The missile hit our family home — the heart of everything we knew.

We lived in peace and security before October 7th,

but since then, we haven't had a single good day. We were in our home at the beginning of the war, but the army besieged us in Khan Younis. We were the first to leave.
