There’s no easy way to say this and I’m a little heartbroken to come to this decision, but I’m not feeling good about trying to keep Moroha around. I was willing to give the show a shot and try to find a canon divergent away around things. In my opinion, nothing Sunrise is doing makes sense. Why introduce a random wolf demon never shown before to be the one to raise Moroha only to sell her off cos of debt? Where’s Kōga in all this? It doesn’t sit well with me. And this isn’t even touching on the icky ship stuff. I keep seeing theories that maybe Riku’s an unreliable narrator and THAT ship isn’t actually canon / Rin isn’t really the ma. But you know, even if she’s not, what they did isn’t okay. They baited and hurt a lot of people.

It was really triggering and I don’t use that word lightly. 

I don’t like how canon Moroha is shaping up. I don’t like how the writing is going. Moroha having a Tetsusaiga ability doesn’t make sense because it was InuYasha able to do the backlash wave BECAUSE of the sword. Moroha having a demon form doesn’t make much sense either considering she’s only a quarter demon. It’s lazy writing and it upsets me. All the girls are OP. All of them. There’s no compelling storytelling happening. I hope they get cancelled and don’t get greenlit for another season.

I don’t feel comfortable writing Moroha anymore given the context of her existence.

VERSE ONE. ( rainbow pearls. cousins. and plot twists. oh my! )

this verse will contain yashahime spoilers. i’m going to try to the best of my ability to follow along with the show. however, sunrise has me squintin’ my eyeballs, so this likely will be just loosely based show adventure plots!

VERSE TWO. ( no one’s stuck in a tree! )

post-canon verse for the original series and with yashahime based characters, but not following the plot of the show. other shenanigans can happen, but this is definitely a verse for all the missing parents to not be missing.

VERSE THREE. ( idk man. let’s write! )

a grab-bag verse for people i really want to write with, but i don’t know what i’m doing and i’m fully making things up as i go. moroha is still moroha, but how she gets places is on a case by case basis and very much in the spirit of wing it!

Ahmya usually isn’t one to judge… and make it obvious. But watching the timelost girl; Ahmya FELT the distress and confusion of her wolf long before it began to whine under the abnormal scrutiny of the strange girl. And strange was putting it mindly… The future leader couldn’t control her reaction any more than she could keep her own council on it.

Should I kill her?

                     “What the hell are you doing?”

        ONE of her eyes squinted shut, as if to sharpen her focus. when that didn’t work, the shihanyō wrinkled her nose. she didn’t look up at wolf girl until she felt like her eyeball might pop right out of her head. the strain was real and intense.

       blink, blink, sniff.

        “talkin’ to it, duh.” without needing to press on the ground to hop back up again, moroha’s standing tallish, rocking on her bare feet. “keh, don’t look at me like your shit doesn’t stink.”

            MOROHA locked eyes with her mother. blinking was necessary, but she still kept staring! the four-year-old already had her lower lip jutted out. the energy that it took to remain seated was more than the little shihanyō could spare. she wiggled. then wiggled again, sighing dramatically. she needed to be out there on adventure. it wasn’t breakfast if she couldn’t catch it first.

             “nu-uh, haha,” she huffed, picking up the small chunk of meat on her plate to throw away from her. it rolled sadly on the floor which meant moroha had to giggle, her hand coming up to cover her mouth. “... ah, oops? can’t eated it now! it’s dirty. tou-chan told moha no eating dirt!”

          with a grunt, she hopped off the stool she’d been perched on. hands clapped together with content. no breakfast to worry about now.  “i go play now,” she declared. 

          the toddler pointed to the hut entrance, big brown eyes wide and hopeful. “ok? ok, bye!”

HC. modern moroha would absolutely rock fingerless gloves, torn fishnet tights with cut off shorts, vintage band tees, and a leather jacket she stole from her dad. but still rock a big bow and would paint her nails fire engine red. 

HC. hear me out! she would be a SLYTHERIN. this little gremlin is cunning, ambitious, smart, and knows how to play the game. she lets her very gryffindor exterior and demeanor play into people underestimating her. 

HC. it isn’t that she can’t pick up social cues, she chooses to ignore them. [ ok, so sometimes she really doesn’t pick them up, but more often than not, she doesn’t care. ]
