Hi, I'm rewatching the anime and am already in the three kings arc. Just a bit confused with Kurama and Yomi's timeline. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Kurama has been gone from the Makai for as long as his human age, while he and Yomi haven't seen each other in a thousand years? Does that mean Yomi would have heard news of Kurama's escapades and known that the latter wasn't looking for him?

According to Yomi, 1,000 years ago, after being blinded by that youkai he captured, he waited for Kurama's help, but he never joined him. After that, he heard on the grapevine that Kurama had disappeared into the Human World. Yomi found interesting that Kurama had given up the Demon World when Raizen and Mukuro were becoming the two major forces.

As the Human World is monitored by the Spirit World, Youko ended up having trouble with them and got injured by Shunjun 15 years ago (his human age), but he had been in the Human World as Youko for about 1,000 years. It's just a pity that we will probably never know what Youko was doing here. I've read some funny doujinshi though.

I think after having understood that Kurama discarded him, Yomi just focused on becoming stronger and building his own country. He eventually became the third force in the Demon World. I also believe Yomi had always looked up to Youko, learning to be less impulsive and more cautious. He got so many of his men killed in the past.

It might be interesting to read Kurama's Personal History from the official databook.

Did togashi had any issue with making hiei a main character of the show he didn't look he was forced to make hiei a main character if he had a problem with including hiei I think he would have said no even suzaku and rando were popular but we didn't see them even at the end of the manga and anime

No, he didn’t have any issue. He just wasn’t very sure about Hiei at first. He said in November 2017 (JUMP 50th anniversary issue): “There wasn’t any aim involved, I purely drew Hiei as a character I thought would be cool. The typical ‘chuuni’ disease character, that’s how he came out to be.”

I’m translating a few interviews he gave to V-JUMP in 92-93 in which Togashi says, for example, that he drew Yukina’s arc simply because he wanted to draw her and Tarukane. Then, he felt in love with the Toguro brothers and decided to take them to the next series (The Dark Tournament). I don’t think Togashi had many goals set in his mind concerning some of characters or even the storyline, specially at the beginning of the series. He just went with the flow. Hiei’s huge popularity among the fans might have helped him making up his mind and finally turning him into one of the protagonists.

Well, Togashi just said Hiei came out as a “chuuni”, he didn’t specify whether it was just his personality or the evil eye as well. Since the jagan is one of the symptoms of the “middle-school second-year disease”, it may be case. But, YYH is also a manga about youkai and supernatural, so it could have been inspired by the legends. Or, maybe both, the folklore and the “chunni” disease (lol). In the end, Hiei was a well-built character, wasn’t he? ;) As I said, Togashi doesn’t usually give many details in his interviews. I kinda like this mystery around the series, we can always speculate and discuss about the characters ^^
