Proposal for Magazine Book:
Yann Elomo Aristide
2020/11/12
For the idea book I came up with two ideas. Here is their presentation:
The first idea is to make a magazine which’s topic is going to be the sport of basketball. And in that magazine there will multiple subjects about many parts of the basketball world, topics like the NBA and the Vanier basketball team also. The magazine will contain information about players, coaches, also interviews, and about our recent situation with the covid-19 virus and how basketball life has adapted to these recent changes. The magazine will elaborate on how the players had to adjust to those changes. The magazine will not be long but will contain interesting content. It will have a cover with a photo in the front page and in various places in the magazine also for better representation. The magazine format will well interpret my idea on a basketball magazine for I have seen many magazines featuring the topic of basketball. In a magazine there are side bars in which I can include more details about the main topic, there are also sections in which the topic can be well diversified. This is how the magazine will be detailed: First, the magazine will figure four sections, the first section will talk about the NBA and its adjustments due to the corona virus. The second section will elaborate about the NBA players and how their life changed and the adjustments they made after the pandemic. The third section will stretch on the basketball season at Vanier and the changes we had to make to keep evolving as a team. Last but not least the fourth section will be the interviews of my teammates and coaches on our basketball season keep-away, and it will figure their thoughts on the whole situation right now; how it affects them and how it differentiate from their situation before it all happened. And with that information here I will put along the pictures I need with a proper context to give a better understanding to the future viewers of the magazine. The end of the magazine will feature the references I used to write the info on the magazine, it will also content the list of people that have been interviewed for this project.
The second idea I had was to create a magazine about food from my country, Cameroon, in Africa. The magazine will contain many sections. I like the idea of a magazine for food just like a “how to cook” booklet, but bigger. Just like in a booklet I can implement any images I desire to create a better set for the viewer unlike in a book where it will be much lecture and not a lot of imagery/images. The first section will be an introduction to the subject which is food, the second section will be presenting my home country Cameroon its location and its description. The third section will be presenting the different foods that you will find in my country, many dishes will be explained: how to cook them, the ingredients needed, and the way to cook it with the right materials. The fourth section will be featuring various dishes from various parts in the country. The dimensions of this magazine will be around 12x8 inches long and wide respectively. The material I will use to create the magazine is the tool InDesign, a tool to which can help crate magazines. The magazine will feature tools or techniques on how to cook the food presented with great advices also to lead the viewer into the right direction. The end of the magazine will show other types of advices and resources to keep helping the viewer in his cooking journey.
And for the magazine I chose the column grid layout as an unsporation to create my magazine

Design Studio 2 : Redesigning Nature
Yann Elomo
2020/10/29
The element of nature I decided to redesign is a cheetah. We find cheetahs in the savannah and my idea was to transform the cheetah into a race car. I choose to transform it into that engine because they both have a similar characteristic which is speed. The cheetah is known to be the fastest animal on ground on earth, and of course the car is an engine used the travel on earth faster. The work I made is a car with a cheetah’s skin, head and tail and put it to the set in a car race. To test the capacities of this redesigned animal idealistically versus a car to see what object is going is a great idea because both engines are extremely fast. In the picture you can see that the background is kind of blurry it is to mark the fact that the subjects in the picture are going extremely fast. The car-cheetah I designed has a tail and it can help the car alternate directions while on the track also the tail can help it change directions quicker when turning and make swifter drifts. The little head of the cheetah in front of the car makes it easy for the car to “dive” into the air while at full speed. You can see that on the work there are two white lines pointing towards the end of the road and he two cars also point in that direction. The image portrays contrasting ideas, on it you can see that there is grass and cheetahs normally run on grass but that cheetah rides on concrete. There are similarities between the cheetah and the car, first, the cheetah has four legs and the car possesses four wheels, the cheetah has two eyes the car two headlights, the cheetah has two ears the cars has two wing mirrors.

Secondly I choose the beach to redesign, with its perfect sunset and a clear blue sky, you can even see the horizon of the sea. The beach just gives people a feeling of relaxation and vacation at the same time. You can dive into the cool waters of the ocean created by the One and Only Mighty Adonai. The sand on the beach also fits perfectly into the set, just a peak of beauty.

I chose the cheetah to redesign in this project. The cheetah is known to be the fastest animal on the earth and it is my favourite animal. Here on the picture you can see that the cheetah is running and it is in its fulfillment of its potential . Fun fact: The cheetah actually spends more time in the air than on the ground while running at full speed.

Customized Font : Written explanation
My inspiration for this font was the work from a music artist called M.H.D. and his work is “Afro Trap pt. 5, Ngatie Abedi” a song he created. I took him as my inspiration for my font from his work because really his works inspire me a lot. As a young African artist, he represents the fact that African people can have big success in their life while being themselves and having their own style. He created the music style he called “Afro Trap”, and I really liked it. It is a mix of African music style and western rap music style. So, when I created my font, I wanted to create a font that resembles a bit to the style of some African styles of font, I went in that direction to create a font that represents Africa. But what I inspired myself from his work is his creativity when making a beat and sounds, mostly POW! So that way I wanted to make a creative font with my imagination. But I also took some from him as when he raps he does fast rhymes and doesn’t stop for a long time so you can see on my font when I apply lines that don’t stop on the letters it is represents that thing. Also, my font’s presentation is on the background photo of M.H.D. in front of the Rio De Janeiro famous sculpture, that is from the clip Ngatie Abedi, which means: “Boy how is it?” in Zoulou. My font really takes the idea of creativity into a letter, you form what you see.
