Just a piece of the past now

A fact should be mentioned is how Kaneki was always admiring Touka through different perspectives.

First, as a pure human who has never known her very well to begin with.

Well Kaneki, here is the first thing you wouldn’t have known yet, that you won’t fall in love with the customer, but with this lovely barista. ❤️

Then again, even after knowing she is a ghoul, saw her fight, and he himself became half ghoul and knew what kind of life she is living still this image of Touka won’t change.

Once more, after losing his memories and his old life, after building a whole new identity with several relationships and a decent job, fully satisfied and does not seek any other relationship, yet he found her beautiful.

I really liked this question “What are those eyes seeing?”. I like that it could be interpreted by two ways:

- Either Kaneki is asking himself about what Touka’s eyes are seeing? what’s this nostalgic feeling made you show this expression Touka?

- Or it’s Kaneki’s eyes when he saw Touka, what flashes your memory Kaneki? What are you seeing in Touka made you think of your past?

And what is the result? That longing feeling which made him keep returning every once in a while.

Stealing glances secretly, but you failed at this sweet Kaneki we all know that 😉

Even when you were not visiting, your mind would be absent thinking about her.

Note that he -as Sasaki- connected her to the people Kaneki knew, so it’s a high chance that she too is a ghoul, and you are an investigator Sasaki…. I really liked Ishida-sensei showing Sasaki’s longing in one of the happiest chapters, he still can’t ignore that part of him even though he was so scared.

No matter how many realty or fake identity you’ll live in Kaneki. No matter what is your kind. No matter what your relationship with her is (customer/barista, trainee/coach, friends, just a stranger),you will always choose her.

Re blogging again since I finished reading and God I absolutely adore how you tackled the intricate parallels and divergences with Kuzen between all the different factions of Eto, Touka, Kaneki, Yomo, Hinami etc along with ainteku+:re, along with the roles of the managers between Kuzen and Touka opposed to the love with Eto.

It really goes to show the amount of detail that is so present in every single relationship and impact Kuzen had in pointing out all his shortcomings, yet also noting the road he traveled with those shortcomings each step of the way in his struggles that could have been overcome in a different way. I could go on about each aspect but lord knows that will take too long and you've already made so much effort in explaining them all so again thank you!🔥

I wanted to take a look at Touka and Kuzen through the lens of how they handled situations differently, and how they handled their creations of cafes for their loved ones. It’s well known that Touka’s creation of ;re paralleled Kuzen’s creation of Anteiku. However, Ishida goes out of his way to show the immense differences between these two characters. This difference, and how it came to be, is portrayed in their backstories, and how  they carry themselves in the actual story. This post will cover things in both TG and TG;re.

It took a couple days more than I expected since I was busy and distracted by Chen Gong memes, but I finally finished Ishida’s review which is essentially him rambling about his favourite parts about the Tokyo Ghoul S movie lol.

The other thing of note is that we finally know the kanji for Sui? 帥 which means ‘commander’, but who knows if it was like that originally or if Ishida added it after the fact.

“Have you seen Matsuda Shouta’s portrayal of Tsukiyama Shuu?”

The other day I was finally able to go see the movie “Tokyo Ghoul S”.

Since posts on Twitter have to be 140 characters or less, I’ve been struggling to cut down the number of characters each time and fit together the necessary information like a puzzle, but to put it bluntly it’s a pain in the ass. So this time, I’d like to share my written thoughts…or should I say endorsement of the movie via this new web service. I apologize for making you read my poor writing.

Oh, just as a precaution, I’ll be touching a bit on the contents of the movie, so if you want to avoid spoilers, I’d advise you not to read any further.

Also, although there were lots of little details that I liked, I’d like to focus on Tsukiyama Shuu played by Matsuda Shouta. (Please don’t get me wrong, all the other cast members were amazing. It’s just what I want to talk about in particular…)

Kyoki taking in Uotani because she can tell shes just a confused kid who needs guidance

seeing Uotani be uncomfortable in the loving environment Tohru and kyoko live in and Both of them doing their best to make her feel comfortable

Uotani getting beat up by her gang because she wants to leave so she can be a better friend to Tohru

Kyoko coming to save her in the crimson butterfly coat and exuding the most BDE ever to save her adopted daughter

Uotani bawling her eyes out because she just wants to be Tohru's best friend while kyoko carries her piggyback style home

I like Ishida’s reasoning behind why chapter 125 was drawn sketchily and without any typesetting (I don’t think he mentioned it before besides wanting the entire chapter to be done by him):

This chapter is probably the biggest reason why this volume was so memorable. I wanted to draw this chapter alone no matter what, So I finished everything by myself without any help from the staff. Even with the one-week break from the Golden Week merger issue, I used up all my time. No drawing it with a perfect hand, and no typesetting. It was kinda awkward, after all.

I had a hard time translating that last line because I couldn’t figure out how to convey it appropriately. Yabo (野暮) can mean a lot of things, including unrefined, coarse, vulgar, inelegant, etc., but the general idea behind it is that it’s unaesthetic.

The sex was awkward and inelegant, the two of them fumbling around, getting embarrassed and encouraging each other, but that was what made it personal and special. Sex is often awkward and sometimes not pretty, it doesn’t happen in the movies where everyone looks elegant and beautiful even when they’re nutting and goes smoothly without a word, especially when two people are having sex for the first time. Hence the rougher line drawings and his chicken scratch.

zakki:re translations, Part 4, Vol. 10-12

It’s been a while since my last post huh. TL;DR I got burnt out after the Q&As and had family stuff to deal with, but I’m well rested and figured the 1-year anniversary of TG:re ending sob would be a good time to come back. Thank you everyone who’s sent me wishes over the last few weeks, they mean a lot to me 🥰

Yaws Personal Reflection on Mikasa Ackerman

When looking at Attack on Titans main trio namely Eren, Armin and Mikasa there are specific themes that truly define each character on an extremely pivotal level in terms of the overarching themes and significance they continuously build upon throughout the course of the story.

Armins is that of the dream. Curiosity, bliss and wonder in constantly exploring and reaching new heights. His dream of the ocean, new lands, his idealistic view on achieving peace whilst also realizing when such dreams have to be altered accordingly in order to achieve them in some way whether it be through sacrifice or strategic cruelty.

Erens of course as we’ve seen since the very beginning until now is that of freedom. One that will always keep on moving forward, ruthlessly so and even cruelly to break free from the shackles of the world (aka bird cage.)

Then we have Mikasa is Sukasa (home and belonging), who I’ve always sort of depicted as the one in the middle between the two but to a much more lesser  extent. Mainly due to the fact that unlike the two a lot of Mikasa’s development by virtue is very subtle since it’s not as dialogue heavy or visually textual, with special emphasis on her actions, few words/inner thoughts and key expressions meant to denote the same things that other characters express themselves with more emphatically.
