the default way for things to taste is good. we know this because "tasty" means something tastes good. conversely, from the words "smelly" and "noisy" we can conclude that the default way for things to smell and sound is bad. interestingly there are no corresponding adjectives for the senses of sight and touch. the inescapable conclusion is that the most ordinary object possible is invisible and intangible, produces a hideous cacophony, smells terrible, but tastes delicious. and yet this description matches no object or phenomenon known to science or human experience. so what the fuck

sometimes when I'm bored, I go through the list of recent bad faith Wikipedia edits that have since been reverted. a lot of them are politically contentious/offensive topics that attract crazies and trolls in general, but sometimes there are completely innocent inoffensive articles that people attack for no reason. some guy yesterday vandalized the article on the chemical element francium

I think objectively the funniest way for a yunmeng shuangjie resolution/reconciliation to play out is for Jiang Cheng's sacrifice with the wen to be revealed and chengxian to end up in a war of "YOU trying to sacrifice your life for ME was stupid and reckless and why the fuck would you do that but ME trying to sacrifice my life for YOU was perfectly reasonable actually" and to subject Lan Wangji to the mortifying realization that he's on Jiang Cheng's side in this argument.

Sacrificing oneself for Wei Ying? Always a good thing to do. Wei Ying getting hurt? Bad. Unfortunately this means agreeing with Jiang fucking Wanyin.

Luo Binghe/Shen Qingqiu (SVSSS) vs Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu (Word of Honor)

Luo Binghe/Shen Qingqiu:

Shen Qingqiu has been in love with Binghe since before he even knew he was gay, the man thought he was straight reading a stallion novel full of smut, just for Binghe, and Binghe decided that if he couldn’t have SQQ that he would destroy the entire world. When SQQ died he kept his body around just in case and had to fight people off almost daily so that he could keep it around, man went full feral about it. They are so insane about each other

Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu:

look Wen Kexing saw Zhou Zishu in his beggar disguise and instantly went "I need that homeless beggar in my bed asap and I will continue to stalk him and pester him until he lets me" and also recognized him from their childhood by his shoulder blades. Zishu still fell in love pretty quickly against his better judgement, though Kexing was undeniably first. Zishu hopped up to "if anything happens to Wen Kexing I'll kill everyone and then myself" (literally) quite quickly tbh (though wkx is also like this). But also Zishu repeatedly went "Lao Wen you're way too evil and insane and you're going to destroy everything including yourself so I'm leaving" and then immediately came back every single time. Also Zishu went from actively trying to die to being willing to be immortal if it meant he could be with wkx so take that as you will.

Zhang Chengling:

A freshly orphaned 14yo adopted by two villains who happened to pass by. However his murderous dads did such a good job raising him that he managed to stay firmly on the good side of the alignment chart - though their chaotic vibes sure rubbed off on him. E.g. at one point he sees that a girl he knows was kidnapped and immediately decides that what needs to be done is kidnapping her back. This plan is derailed by him running into his equally chaotic but less good aligned sibling-by-found-family, which is how they end up with an even more unhinged plan involving dropping buckets of shit on the original kidnappers. Also in the less "chaotic as in shenanigans" and more "chaotic as in the opposite of lawful" way, he *is* down with murder, and also had at least once finished off a guy who was injured by someone else - so like, doesn't mind doing things dishonorable way. But the guy in question was very much a bad guy and absolutely had it coming, so like. our boy Chengling is still good aligned. Additionally, his sword style is described as 'extremely ugly to look at' because his dads kept teaching him basically incompatible styles, but he managed to frankenstein them together. In fact, the combination made him one of the best swordsmen of his generation.... but only in terms of effectiveness. Adds to the chaotic vibe imo. Also in the last extra chapter (extras are basically like sidestories or epilogues), set 5 years after the end of the novel, it's revealed that Zhang Chengling is traveling around by himself, helping others and saving people. Very much a proper martial arts story hero! To sum it up: very good boy. extremely chaotic. definitely chaotic good.
