The world of Harry Potter has a very big place in my heart, but I do not support JKR. I myself am genderqueer and genderfluid, and believe that trans people of all genders are valid. As such,

While I choose to reclaim HP for myself, I support methods of enjoying this fandom without contributing directly to JKR’s wealth. I also support trans headcannons and fanworks! Please send me your trans-inclusive recs.

I do recognize that even when JKR is not benefiting monetarily, there is still an indirect benefit she receives from fandom participation (which keeps her relevant). She wouldn’t be where she is today without fandom, and I, like many, feel the deep betrayal of later learning that she has chosen to use her platform as a way to try and invalidate trans people. It is more important to me than ever that I am explicit that I do not share her views and will not interact with any fans who do.

In the spirit of supporting the trans community, some posts I reblog will be about trans issues rather than Harry Potter. I also welcome meta about how the Harry Potter world is problematic in other ways, because I believe in discussion and awareness rather than book bans and purity culture.

I do not really have any strong ships in the Harry Potter universe right now, but I am pro ship-and-let-ship. I will tag content that may be problematic or triggering as best I can. Some reblogs may be NSFW and will be tagged as such.

In the Harry Potter fandom, I love gen fics, OCs and self-insert fics, and crossovers where characters from my other fandoms are in the HP wizarding world.

what I mainly learned from the backlash about Misfits and Magic season 2 is that some of y'all are so busy hating on JKR and everything related to her that you forgot to uplift trans people and their voices

like yeah you have fun dunking on a TERF who throws tantrums about anything, but have you listened to trans women talking about how misogyny and racism affect them ? have you reblogged that post about trans men being tired of being called "confused little girls" in order to limit their access to healthcare ? have you read this non-binary person vent about how they are furious to be expected to look androgynous when it's not something that they desire ?

Love trans people more than you hate TERFs. Please.

on today’s episode of harry potter world building drives me f*cking crazy

what do you mean the ENTIRE wizarding population of the uk is the size of my college? not my university, my college…

bruh like my neighborhood’s population it’s almost 40x the size of the wizarding community

i- i am struggling guys

i haven’t had this big of a headache since trying to come of with a canon compliant hc for how tf hogwarts would have nearly 1,000 students (tho later she said 600, so i settled for ~650 for my hc, and 1,000 is just like the capacity, what they’re prepared to get, how many students they could accommodate in the premises/dorms/classrooms without having to build/remodel stuff)

but like what do u mean there’s 600-1,000 students at hogwarts and then the british wizarding population is just ~3,000????

like yeah i’m accounting for muggle-borns (supposedly 25% of the wizarding population) and halfbloods but still don’t these kids have grandparents??? but also are squibs included in the 3,000???

and that’s not even considering the fact that wizarding life expectancy is ~130

"Hi!" James's voice is kind and cordial as he approaches the surly-looking 6th year, but anyone who knows him knows he's tense. "Are you Alan?"

The boy eyes him and nods. "What's it to you?"

"I'm James. James Potter. I'm dating Regulus Black."

The younger boy scoffs at the words. "Would've thought you had better taste, with your reputation."

But James just keeps the smile plastered on his face. "That's what I'm here to talk about. Did you know I'm rather good at Transfiguration?"

The other boy just looks at him, obviously wondering why, exactly, this is relevant.

But James leans in conspiratorially, as if to tell a secret. "I can actually Transfigure people. Rare skill as a student, that, but I can do it. So, theoretically, I could, say, turn you into a rock and chuck you off the Astronomy Tower."

The boy balks. "Are you threatening m-"

James grins. "I'm glad you're smart enough to pick up on it so quickly! Now if you ever tell Reg to go use the girls' toilets again, we'll have to have another talk, alright?"

The boy just nods, red-faced, and James leaves without another word.
