A friend of my sister had a recent encounter almost just like this from another girl she considered a friend. It breaks my heart that it happens to us and to hear it mostly come from family and friends is even worse.

Everyday Women Are Told We Are Not Enough.

In this photo series I wanted to bring to light the reality women face walking outside everyday. We are approached with outright disrespect as well as backhanded compliments. Told not to wear makeup, but then told our faces without makeup aren’t enough, unless we’re wearing “natural makeup”- yet that just reinforces false ideas of our true forms. This series is about confronting the constant questioning of women’s bodies and faces. No we WILL NOT smile for you. No we WILL NOT change our routines for you. No we WILL NOT change for you. Whatever we do will be for ourselves, and our own growth and to do what makes US happy and whole.

You know there was a time when I didn’t understand rap music culture even though I listened to it. I had this white teacher when I was younger who stood in front of the class and told us to never listen to rap music because of the lyrics saying to fuck the popo and at that age i didn’t understand the meaning behind those lyrics. I didn’t understand the struggle behind those words. Well that was until videos surfaced and now I understand. I wish I could go back and explain something to that teacher because she doesn’t see the struggle of a culture and the fight of a people. The sad thing is that now people like her still dont understand the fight we have been enduring for over 100 years. I pray that they see before they are brought before their maker and are asked why didn’t you help your fellow man when he called out to you for it.

The world is a very crazy place. I watched a young woman tell her stories, yes stories plural, of sexual abuse. The majority of the commenters decided to attack her by saying that what happened to her was not really sexual abuse. They said that because she was not full on raped, she should not be putting this out there and making other “real” victims look bad. She simply put up a video to express to other girls that have had similar experiences that it is not their fault. She was immediately attacked by people  who said that because her experience was not like theirs that she was not a victim of sexual abuse.

All sexual harassment and rape experiences are wrong and anyone who experienced them should not attack one another, but should confide in each other because any of these acts are wrong and need to be punished by law. I encourage all victims to seek help and report it as soon as it happens or as soon as possible.

I am to damn far behind on news related stories, but what the fuck is happening in this country?!? America the free, home of the brave. Where the hell did all the bravery go and why do we no longer seem free. Anyone slightly different from the bigot cops that get themselves onto the news because of what they so to people like Michael Brown and Tamir Rice is automatically a target to them. Armed or unarmed, criminal or innocent we have always been targets, but now we are national targets over the news by people who know nothing about anything. Conservative news stations take the side of any officer that comes to this and all harmed parties are assumed guilty!!!! What in God’s Name is going on!?!?!?! When will it end? I am almost afraid to come into contact with a police officer right now and I used to want to be one to follow in my dads footsteps, but it’s all so screwed upright now.

Hey all, You know, when loneliness decides it want to set in for a while, it will strike furiously. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with everyone you are thankful for. Mine was great time with my family. But I do hope everyone was paying attention to the news in Ferguson lately. There way too many things unknown about this situation. This leads me to take neither side in this because unless we have the entire story there will be no understanding or peace. Even then there will not be much peace. To all the rioters in Ferguson, there is no excuse for your violence. Violence begets more violence and the cycle never ends. Please be the end of this violence and protest peacefully. There are better ways to be heard.

I believe I just got in the best cry of the month. I watched Brokeback Mountain not long ago and it is the saddest thing I have ever watched. The ending is quiet obscure, but I loved it.
