Calhighians clammored once more in this years’ Batang Malayas’ Inter-regional Competition ,commissioned by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) against Child Labor, from both Speech Choir Category and Quiz Bee Category, November 28, Tuesday. CHS’ Teatrong Sikreto ang Pangalan (TSP) claimed huge championship for the Speech Choir Category of the Contest, exhibiting a very moving stunt for Children who suffer from early Child Labor, the Quiz Bee delegates; Leonardo Prudencio,Liam Tolentino (10-Zara), gained the 4th place spot in the quiz bee category. Alyssa Bernardino, the protagonist in the act, showcase the rather heart felting emotion of children who faces child labor in day to day basis. “The success of this very event is made possible by very moving story of children who struggles child labor to become one of the breadwinner of their families”, Bernadino said in an interview. “The thought of this particular play justifies how fortunate we all are for being in our state right now. Whereas our parents support us in any way that they can, unlike those children who suffer just to help their very own parents”, Bernardino adds. this event is a campaign of the National Child Labor Committee in partnership with DOLE and the International Labor Organization, where it’s aim focuses on pursuit of a child labor-free Philippines. the campaign advocates the hinged on the realization of the Philippine Program Against Child Labor. almost 3.3 million children ages ranging from 5 to 17 suffers child labor, according to a survey conducted by the PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority).   DOLE encourages everybody to prevent the child labor cases of our country. “We can eliminate the youth and children to the hands of abusive people and continue to achieve the Batang Malaya environment.
