Tips for first-time visitors to Los Angeles
Tumblr media
If you planning a first-time visit to the movie capital of the world, Los Angeles, there is plenty to look forward to. Los Angeles is not just a hub of entertainment, but also is a cultural hub with world-class attractions galore. From iconic museums to art galleries, music venues, fantastic shopping, an eclectic dining scene and loads of outdoor activities and events, you can never have a dull moment in the City of Angels.
The city is home to some of the best 3-star hotels in California, which means you can stay in luxury without breaking the bank. Torrance would be a nice choice of location with the Miyako Hybrid Hotel a wallet-friendly property. Its Ise-Shima dining establishment is among the top Japanese restaurants in California.
A visit to LA must include a trip to a spa, with the Miyako’s Relaken Spa among the best spas in California.
A few tips to have a great trip to LA are:
Plan your itinerary: Doing things off the cuff may be exciting, but when you are in a new city, you need to plan an itinerary so as to get to grips with the new surroundings. Los Angeles is absolutely massive so to make the most of your trip plan out your itinerary in advance. Cover the main attractions that you would like to visit and try to club them together, location-wise, so you need not travel too much. Check out the distances and the time you plan to spend at each attraction. You could use a travel planner, LA travel guide or download any of those useful apps to create your schedule.
Keep in mind the traffic: The traffic in the city is notoriously difficult with frequent logjams, so keep that in mind when travelling across the city. You have to factor in traffic especially, during peak hours on weekdays, when things get really bad. What is normally a 20-minute ride can stretch up to 120 minutes. Welcome to LA’s killer traffic! Plan all your travel in the city keeping the distance and the average time it will take to commute, with generous leeway for long delays.
Make the most of public transport: Despite the awful traffic, the transit system is surprisingly efficient. Using public transport will save a load on private taxi costs, more so when you are caught in a traffic jam. Take the line that travels from North Hollywood to the downtown section as it includes stops at the key attractions. Using the subway transit system is the best way to get around the city, with buses the next option.
Avoid holidays and weekends to visit star attractions: The top tourist attractions are absolutely packed with visitors, so try not to visit on a public holiday or the weekend. Those are peak days when the attendance records are their highest. There will be long queues and the waiting time can be very long at most of the key attractions. One way to jump the queues is by using a Full Pass (where permitted). While in some places the Full Pass usage is free, at others there might be an extra charge.

10 Awesome Things To Do in Guanajuato
Tumblr media
Slated as one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico, Guanajuato has an abundance of cultural attractions and interesting sights to fill your days. Here are 10 awesome things to do during your stay at Santa Cecilia Mexico that you simply cannot miss!
1) Ride the Guanajuato funicular
Guanajuato’s funicular pulls you up a steep, 102 meter track at a 42° incline. From the top you can score a terrific birds-eye view of the colorful city from the El Pípila Monument. Choose to walk back down or hop back on the funicular.
2) Admire the Basilica Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato
There are plenty of churches to explore in Guanajuato, but the vibrant yellow basilica that dominates the central plaza is a must-see. Built in the 1600s, inside you can find a jewel-incrusted statue of the Virgin Mary.
3) Explore the Old Town on foot
The historic centro of Guanajuato is comprised of cute plazas, manicured gardens and highly walkable streets. Abandon your maps for the day; get lost among the labyrinthine and let yourself be surprised at every corner.
4) Navigate El Nopal Mina
Trace back Guanajuato’s mining history with a guided tour through one of the old mine shafts. El Nopal Mina is the most central, accessible mine, and is only a five minute walk from the Hotel Castillo De Santa Cecilia Guanajuato.
5) Share a kiss at Callejón del Beso
On one particularly narrow street, two houses are so close to one another that their balconies practically touch. Guanajuato has its own Romeo and Juliet tale about a young woman who fell in love with a miner, but her father didn’t approve. The miner rented the room across from the woman’s bedroom and each night they would exchange secret kisses from their balconies. Unfortunately, when the father discovered the affair he killed his daughter and the miner took his own life. The good news for modern-day couples is that sharing a kiss in the alleyway brings good luck to your relationship!
6) Visit the home of Diego Rivera
Mexico’s distinguished artist is known for both his mural paintings and his marriage to Frida Kahlo.  His Guanajuato home is now a museum and gallery containing original furnishing and is open to the public.
7) Shop at Mercado Hidalgo
Pick up souvenirs, fresh fruits and local produce or simply soak up the atmosphere at the largest market in town!
8) Creep yourself out at the Mummy Museum
It’s not only Ancient Egypt who adopted the practice of mummification - Guanajuato also has an eerie history of mummification! The gruesome exhibits are not for the faint-hearted, but utterly fascinating.
9) Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera
Take a stroll in these lush 17th century gardens and elegantly laid out courtyards.  The perfect place to recharge and relax.
10) See Guanajuato University
The Universidad de Guanajuato is one of the oldest universities in Latin America, and has a huge student population. The radical architecture is a great photo opportunity!

Ways for last minute valentine celebration in Leon, Mexico
Tumblr media
Love is in the air, especially in Leon! So you’re considering a last-minute getaway valentine celebration in Leon, Mexico. I am happy to inform you that you have come to the right place in the event that you want more information and confirmation that yes, that sounds like an excellent idea. So here goes, it sounds like an excellent idea, and here is why!
Take a stroll in Martyr’s Square.
There’s nothing like a romantic walk in nature, primarily if nature is contained in the city. Once called the Constitution Square, it was renamed after a large group of citizens were killed protesting election results in 1946. Now its a peaceful garden you can enjoy with your partner. The main square is in a great location, central and close to hotels, restaurants, shops and of course - everything leather.
Visit the leather market.
At the zona piel you will find everything leather! Buy your valentine a little leather gift like a pair of shoes, a leather vest, a wallet or a bag to commemorate your valentines celebration together. If you are uncertain about what to get and at which price, feel free to ask the concierge at your accommodation like Hotel San Fransisco Leon Guanajuato. That way you don’t have to guess any of your purchases second later, because no one likes buyers remorse.
Watch Fireworks
The feria de león lasts for 26 days from January to February. Its one of the three largest fairs in Mexico and has been going on for over 140 years. You’ll find plenty of free events, live performances, ice skating facilities, cattle shows, bullfighting, circus and other events. And of course, fireworks! It’s a unique window into Mexican culture that’s sure to light a fire in your romantic getaway.
Visit the temple of the sacred heart of Jesus.
In Spanish called Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazon, it translates to the sacred heart of Jesus. In the name of valentines day, visit the sacred heart with your partner. Unlike most of the architecture in Mexico, it is not baroque of neoclassical. The french neo-gothic style is rare to see in the area. Construction began in 1920 and was stopped abruptly and as such the project still has not been finished. Even in its incomplete state its a beautiful spot with a high altar and panels in stained glass - a metaphor for a heart, perhaps?
Hit up the zoo
The zoo in Leon is perfect for a hand-holding stroll. It is home to large mammals like elephants, small monkeys and tiny little birds. The animals are housed in areas to recreate their natural habitat. It’s a great way to learn more about animals with your partner.
Go for a bike ride
Leon isn’t necessarily the most obvious choice for a romantic getaway, which sort of makes it the perfect location. Void of rushes of tourists, accommodation in Guanajuato Mexico is easy to come by. The city is bike-friendly so why don’t you go on a romantic bike ride around the town? It is a great way to get around, budget-friendly and a great way to build a little exercise into your trip. The highs in February are 25 degrees Celsius and ten at the very least. Great bike weather!

Useful tips when visiting Guanajuato
One of the most beautiful locations to holiday in Mexico is Guanajuato, which has plenty of exciting places to visit and things to do. A Spanish era colonial city, it is extremely colourful and considered by many to be the most beautiful city in the country. Situated in the heartlands of Mexico, there are plenty of features that make it a major draw for tourists. With a busy social calendar, featuring numerous festivals and events, a stunning rugged landscape and beautiful architecture set it apart from other Mexican cities. All of these add to the allure of the city and make it an irresistible destination to explore in the country.
For those travellers that want to enjoy all the comforts and luxuries during their stay in Guanajuato the Hotel Castillo Santa Cecilia, Guanajuato offers the best of 3-star amenities and facilities.
An added asset is the Castillo De Santa Cecilia Hotel’s location that offers convenient access to the chief attractions and landmarks in town.
A few points to not or first-time visitors to the city are as follows:
Stick to the city centre: While safety in Guanajuato is almost at par with most other tourist destinations in South America, it is best to stick to the city centre. While it is okay to explore the area in the night, there are certain neighbourhoods or sections best not to venture in the night hours. That being said if one follows the usual precautions as when in any new city, it is perfectly safe to enjoy an uneventful trip.  When in doubt it is best to stick to the attractions in a local travel guide or ask the hotel staff when you have any doubts.
Avoid tap water in Guanajuato: If you do not want to fall sick while on holiday avoid having tap water in the city. When you need to drink water, it is best to buy bottled water only. In most hotels and establishments, they serve purified water so that should not be an issue.
Pick up some Spanish: Since Spanish is the local lingo, it would definitely be helpful to learn some basic terms and phrases. Not only will it make it easier to communicate with the locals it will make the experience much more enjoyable. Plus, when you speak the local language, even a few basic sentences and phrases, it makes visitors more endearing to the locals. You could also use any of those fancy language apps from the Apple or Google Play Store to make things easier.
Use taxis to get around the city: If you intend to only visit the main attractions in central Guanajuato, there really is no need to hire a taxi or Uber. Most of the tourist spots in the city centre are easy to access on foot. However, if you plan to move further to other areas or even through the tunnels you might need to rent a taxi service. While taxis are easier and cheaper for short distances within Guanajuato, if you need to travel longer distances then hiring an Uber would be more cost-effective.

4 Benefits of a Relaxing Holiday
City breaks are so popular these days; with super-packed itineraries, and often the need to book attractions and even restaurants in advance, it can be difficult to step out of that mindset and remember that the main purpose of taking a holiday is to relax. That being said, a city break can actually be quite relaxing, if you go the right way about it - who knew? Here are four ways that taking a relaxing trip can benefit you.
1. You’ll feel less stressed
According to the Mental Health Foundation, a staggering three-quarters of us felt so stressed that we became overwhelmed or unable to cope in 2018. That’s a whole lot of people with a whole lot on their minds.
While a small amount of stress can be what we need to spur us on, taking a break every once in a while can help us maintain a healthy state of mind, and many studies have shown that a holiday helps promote good health and wellbeing. There are plenty of hotel and spa deals that can help you get that dose of relaxation you so deserve.
2. You’ll boost your productivity
Whatever our day-to-day jobs, it’s very easy to settle into a routine and allow ourselves to feel too comfortable. Taking a few days away from the office - and even family life - to recharge our batteries and focus on ourselves will help us regain our productivity.
When you return from your break, you’ll feel relaxed and refreshed, and hopefully a lot more prepared to handle what life throws your way. It’s said that a holiday can boost creativity as well, so take yourself by surprise and see where inspiration strikes.
3. You’ll strengthen your relationships
No matter who you choose to share your precious downtime with, be it a partner, family member or friend, experts reckon that spending time on holiday together helps strengthen your relationships, as it helps you build the personal bonds we tend to crave as humans.
So, whoever it is that means most to you, make sure to book some time away together every once in a while. Hotels in the heart of London like the Montcalm Hotel are ideal because you get the chance to relax while being within walking distance of restaurants, shops and everything else you could need.
4. You’ll see an increase in your happiness
Holidays which promote wellness promote happiness, and if there’s one city in England who’s residents could do with an extra helping of wellness London is probably it! With all those hours spent commuting on a crowded tube on top of London life being a little stressful from time to time, it’s easy to become unhappy perhaps without even noticing it.
Be sure to book some time off and enjoy what life has to offer outside of your daily routine - you’ll feel happier, healthier and maybe a little less frustrated about the things getting you down on a daily basis.

How to Maintain Wellness in London
Tumblr media
Wellness is one of those terms floating around today that means something different to everyone you speak to. Whether it’s hours in the gym, a morning meditation routine, or only eating plant-based products, wellness has taken over as the most popular natural remedy in today’s society – as well as the most diverse.
Here we look at some different forms of wellness available in London.
 Rigorous exercise
Exercise has long been a popular way to keep fit and healthy, and in the past few years, we have finally uncovered the power of exercise when it comes to mental wellness as well as physical. With this a firm fact across every aspect of our lives now, visiting your hotel gym during your trip to London is one of the easiest ways to input active wellness into your day. Hotels such as the Piccadilly Hotel London offer access to the on-site gym and fitness centre as part of your stay; often open early in the morning so you can get your exercise for the day in before most of the city has even had breakfast.
 Walking and Socialising
Another form of wellness is a healthy and active social life – and you can combine this with your physical wellness by taking in the city sites with your friends and family on foot. We searched for some of the best Special Offers London Hotels have available this year, and found that many open their facilities to visitors from all across the city – with a variety of themes, restaurants and cafes available you can enjoy a day wandering around some of London’s finest hotels without the costly addition of taxis, tubes, or the more tourist centred attractions.
 Nutrition
When you’re away from home it can be easy to fall into bad habits when it comes to eating. The home of afternoon tea, cakes and finger sandwiches, you may think the cities delectable treats are damaging to your waistline… But when combined with some active exercise every day, a simple search for afternoon tea London deals will lead you down a rabbit hole of scones, jams and baked goods available across the city. For an extra special and unique treat, try the cultural fusion that is the Piccadilly Hotel’s Indian Afternoon Tea. Trust us, Indian spice really does make all things nice.
 Head to the spa
The age-old trick for a day centred around wellness takes place in the spa. The home of relaxation, calming music, bubbling saunas and steam rooms, a spa is designed to be an oasis amongst the chaos of daily life – and the Piccadilly London West End Hotel Spa is no different. One of our favourites in the city, this hotel spa focuses on wellness through massage and self-therapy, with plenty of pool space, loungers and private areas for guests to relax and recharge.
So, there you have it – wellness in the city of London. How ever you choose to focus and centre your own wellbeing, you can rest assured that somewhere in London will have the tools and the atmosphere needed to accommodate your desires.

Top Tips for Cheap Travel in London
Tumblr media
London can be a tall order when it comes to budgeting. Even with the greatest value luxury hotels in London, it can still be difficult to budget your trip to the city, regardless of your needs. With London being such a large city, spanning over 607 square miles, the UK capital has worked up quite the network of public transport routes.
Whether you’re driving, walking or training it here, you’ll never be short of options, regardless of whether you’re travelling to the outskirts or to the city centre. From commuter belts to financial hubs, it’s always wise to be savvy with your travel money. With rules and regulations abound, it’s very easy to spend more than you need when getting around London.
Contactless vs Oyster cards
If you’re visiting for a short period, a prime piece of advice is to opt for the contactless card or Oyster contactless top-up card. Each has its own perks; the oyster card allows you to upload any discounts you may be liable for and supports daily caps on your travel fares, your contactless bank card allows for weekly capping fares. Each has its own benefits and which type of card suits you, is down to your personal needs.
Santander Cycles are quick, cheap and great exercise!
An alternative to taking public transport is to use Santander Cycles, rentable bikes which can be paid for by contactless or debit card. With dozens of terminals for pickups and rentals across central London, Santander Cycles allows commuters and tourists to see the city from the vast network of the cycling superhighway for just £2 per 24 hours.
Always remember the bus hopper fare
Bus hopper fares are a new scheme introduced as part of Sadiq Khan’s tenure as mayor. These give you two for the price of one bus fares for any two journeys taken within the same hour, perfect for traversing long distances of the city by bus.
Stay centrally to avoid travel costs
Whilst travelling in London can be quick and easy, making sure that your accommodation is centrally located may save you travel costs. With much fo the city centre attractions within a 2-mile radius, if you’re able to walk then hotels such as the Montcalm group will give you an ease of access to the many historic sites in the city.
Try and avoid rush hour
Peak times in London are between 7.30 and 9.30 am and 4 pm and 7 pm. These times are known as rush hour, a time when many of the workers and school children in the city are commuting across London. Journeys during these hours often add up to a third per journey cost. To enjoy London on a budget, avoid these times if you can.
Don’t drive in central London
Whilst the Montcalm Royal London House parking is easy and accessible for guests at the hotel, driving through central London on a regular basis will mean you have to pay a congestion charge. Whilst you feel it may save you money, the fact is that it will cost you far more in emission prices and the journeys, most of the time will take longer than by tube or bike.

Reasons to Splurge on Your Hotel Accommodation
Tumblr media
I get it. Most of the time, you try to cut costs by allocating less to your hotel budget. Travelling is expensive, there’s no questioning that – and you want to experience as much as possible.
But how often do you enter a hotel room and sort of wish that you could stay there longer? The beds are always made, there are complimentary tea and coffee, the TV is enormous, and the bathtub looks so inviting. But you leave the room to go to planned sights. And sure, it’s fun. But have you ever considered splurging on a hotel and enjoying the amenities?
Push away the guilt! You deserve this!
The beds are incredible.
The more you splurge on your hotel experience, the better the beds are. Most of the time they’re pretty large, so imagine how big and comfortable they get when you splurge? Yeah.
Neatly folded with the highest of thread counts, is there a more comfortable place to fall asleep than in a hotel bed?
Most of us do some work at home, and most definitely bring electronic devices into the bedroom. Distractions can disturb your sleep, as there is no clear separation between sleep and work. Hotel rooms are different; you go there to sleep, definitely not to work. Perhaps you need a good nights hotel rest at 4 Star Hotels in Lancaster UK more than you need an expensive dinner.
Products in the bathroom
Who hasn’t stolen a hotel shampoo bottle? Pshhhh me neither.
You’ll notice that when you splurge on your hotel accommodation and book a room at a Central London Accommodation as opposed to by the airport – the quality of said shampoo bottle gets better.
Maybe you should take the evening and make yourself a nice bubble bath with luxury bath products?
Restaurant quality food
Did you know that one of the best Restaurants Near Lancaster Gate is actually in a hotel? Not only do you get Michelin star quality food at luxurious hotels, but it’s also super easy to get back.
All you have to do is take the elevator upstairs and there you go!
Seeing as hotel restaurants are excellent at service, you can ask for small changes without fearing irritation thrown your way. You can even ask for the food to be sent up to your room, yes room service! What in this world beats room service? Nothing, my friend, nothing at all.
Breakfast buffet
Speaking of food, when you splurge on London hotels with breakfast  you can eat as much or as little as you want of high-quality foods. The more expensive hotels can make personalized egg creations for you like poached eggs or omelettes.
Hotel breakfasts are better than your Starbucks roast, you can have as much coffee as you’d like, and no one spells your name wrong.
As you can see, splurging on your hotel accommodation is worth it. Spending time indoors having food and cleaning getting taken care for you is underrated.
