a random starter for @yhserim​​ … ! ⭑

it was a slow day at her stall -- she figured it was just because most of the people who bought her jewelry had bought their fill for the week already. so instead of standing on her feet for another 3 hours, she decided to close up early and head to a cafe to get something to eat. it was fairly quiet, which was exactly what she was hoping for coming at a time like this. 

she watches the bubbles rise in her soda, chewing her food slowly and enjoying it. when she’s finished, she orders a to-go drink, offering a polite bow to the waitress before getting up to walk out. 

when she spins around, though, she slams right into a tall figure. the paper cup is crushed in between them, soda spilling all over the front of them. eunbi yelps at the cold liquid running down her shirt, looking up at the person standing in front of him. her eyes are wide with concern, cheeks heating up from embarrassment, “i’m so sorry!” she blurts, immediately turning to grab a napkin from her table. she pats the gentleman’s shirt, desperately trying to soak up the liquid. “i should have been watching where i was going–” she says quickly. she had worn foundation that day, but there was no denying how red her ears probably were. 

“i can have it dry cleaned immediately. oh my god i’m really so sorry, it’s probably gonna be so sticky.”

“that one… looks like a heart,” sunny adds, glad for the change of subject. she hums and lays down so she doesn’t have to crane her neck uncomfortably while cloud gazing. “that one kind of looks like a frog.” sunny looks toward eunbi and reaches down to hold her hand, giving it a squeeze. “i missed you a lot, you know,” she says finally. “i’m glad you’re here now. i don’t think i could handle life without my best friend.”  

“oh it does.” eunbi smiles, watching the heart and frog cloud continue on through the sky. she looks over at sunny when she feels their hands connected. there’s a swirl of emotion when her friend speaks. her thoughts linger to a time when they were definitely more than friends, but she immediately tries to shove those thoughts away. then she thinks of how isolated she had been; all the friends she had disconnected from because facing reality was just too crushing for her. 

her eyes water against her best efforts, but she nods, “i missed you too.” she says softly. way more than i want to admit, she thinks. “i’m sorry for leaving so abruptly. i wish–” eunbi cuts herself off, realizing that she shouldn’t say this out loud, “i wish i had at least checked in with you” she says instead, which isn’t a lie either. eunbi was terrified she had burned a lot of bridges; most people didn’t even know her mother was sick, and even though they knew she passed away, eunbi couldn’t help but worry her friends would forget about her. 

she looks back up at the sky, unable to continue looking at sunny without getting more emotional, “i think in the last few months i stayed alone not only because i was upset, but because i was worried that i had burned too many bridges. the idea of being just as alone outside as i was inside was scary.” she says quietly. “though, i was worried the most about losing you.” the words come out before she can stop herself, but she gives sunny’s hand a squeeze regardless. “you make my life brighter. i can’t think of anyone else i’d rather be close with.” she smiles, seeing a cloud shaped like a paw.

hi! i know i’ve done this before but i’m gonna do them again. tldr; life is really busy right now since i just brought a new puppy into my life so i don’t have much time to actually plot out anything. but please like this post and reply with a word and i’ll write your muse a random starter! i don’t wanna miss out on writing with anyone bc i’m busy ;;; i’ll cap these off at 5 for now, but i’ll edit the post if i’m accepting more.~

“the beach is closed… let’s go anyway.”

“should we?” she asks, looking from the closed sign to her friend with a sly smile. “i feel like you’re gonna get me in trouble,” she smirks, knocking her shoulder against sunny’s gently, “but it does seem fun, doesn’t it?” she giggles. she looks around, “are there any guards or anything?” she doesn’t see anyone, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anyone further down the beach.

she sighs, “fine... but if we get in trouble... we’ll just deny everything. i’m also really good at fainting on command.” she laughs. she waits for sunny, before getting her help to climb over the fence. once at the top, she yelps quietly, her top getting caught. she unhooks it gently, before continuing down to the other side. it’s dark, but eunbi keeps a lookout while sunny makes it over. “okay... so what’s your plan now, boss?” she smirks, “a walk down the beach? or shall we jump in the freezing cold water?” her eyes suddenly sparkle, “have you ever gone skinny dipping? i see it in american movies all the time.”

“haven’t you see jaws?!”

eunbi laughs, “there’s not gonna be any sharks in shallow waters.” she says, an amused smile on her face. she heaves her cooler along with them as they walk closer to the shore, “besides you should have thought of that before you agreed to come with me to the beach.” she giggles. “if it helps i think the water is gonna be too cold to go in anyway. at least we’ll get some sun and have a nice lunch in the meantime.” 

she grins, pointing at the various shells, “and look! there’s treasure to hunt. i can’t wait to make them into earrings and jewelry.” her eyes sparkle at the possibilities, a small spring in her step as she walks further towards the shore. she picks a good spot, setting the cooler down, “i think we can set up the umbrella here. i made all of this food this morning so hopefully you like it. it’s some of my favorites.” she grins, laying out a blanket for them to sit on.

he adjusts his grip on the swing’s chains and rubs a particularly rusty spot on the left between his fingers. he exhales as he looks towards the ground again, focusing on his once-white sneakers that are now covered in dirt and damp grass. “i guess i do have a lot on my mind.” for a brief moment, he considers unloading some of it. not directly, but through prodding questions like ‘if you had access to a time machine, would you use it?’. but she’s only just arrived and he doesn’t want to be left alone again so soon, so he opts for keeping conversation light. “but that’s not anything new. what’s going on with you these days?”

eunbi smiles at the compliment, even blushing a little; she hadn’t really done much to make herself look presentable -- not really planning on seeing anyone on her random park trip -- but she had managed to brush her hair and wash her face, so she’ll take any positive comments she can get. “thank you. it’s a little faded, but i think i like the lighter pink shade.” she says softly, swinging gently. “it’s nice to see you too, by the way.” she adds, not wanting to seem rude.

there’s a brief silence as eunbi watches eunsang contemplate his words, before he ends up turning the topic back around to her. she gives an understanding smile, “not much, if i’m honest.” she says sadly, “really i just make jewelry all day and play video games all night. sometimes i play video games all day and night. and somewhere in between all that i snuggle my cat and play with him.” she shrugs, “i guess it’s not too bad of a life but... i’ve definitely felt more lonely recently.” she almost continues the thought but she hesitates just as eunsang had. but maybe if she opened up, he would feel like he could too. “i guess i’ve been lonely the whole time and at first i wanted it that way but... now i don’t. and it feels weird trying to change that. scary, even.”

it could be too much for a first time conversation between two people who hadn’t seen each other for a while, but eunbi didn’t really care much at that moment. she was so glad to talk to someone that wasn’t her therapist; it felt relieving to talk about these things without someone analyzing her words carefully. “what about you?” she asks, turning to look at him.

“ah,” sunny manages, blushing a bit when eunbi looks at her the way she does. “you look pretty too.” her voice is soft and timid, not the usual confident bubbly self that she’s managed to create over the past five years. “like a princess,” she says holding her hands to her cheeks to hide the flush that lingers there. 

sunny’s voice gets softer and it causes eunbi’s tummy to flip. she ignores it, her smile only growing wider and her cheeks flushing from the compliment, “a princess?” she asks, as if unable to believe it, “you look much more elegant than me for sure.” she says genuinely. then she giggles, “is the sunny blushing?” she says as if she can’t believe her eyes, pulling sunny’s hands from her cheeks and holding them. “you’re very very beautiful, miss seona. especially your smile.”

eunbi’s heart rate picks up a bit as she looks at sunny, her gaze dropping to her lips only for a moment before going back up to her eyes, her usual soft smile returning. she feels shy suddenly, gently letting go of sunny’s hands, “spring looks good on you.” she comments, poking at her flower crown gently as if to make a point.

she lays down, gazing up at the sky where the clouds slowly crawl. she points to one, “that cloud looks like a cat.” she says. “can you see any other shapes?”

yhanran​:

it seems her expertise passes this round. there’re flowers on display in spread in front of them. they bounce over, leaning forward to have a good look. ❝ how pretty. ❞ she remarks looking to the girl beside her. ❝ i wish i was that skilled. ❞

eunbi smiles, “my mother really enjoyed keeping flowers around the house.” she says softly, her gaze transfixed on the display in front of them. “i can’t remember the last time i bought a bouquet but maybe i should change that today.” she tries not to think too hard about it, instead focusing on anran’s comment. “i’m sure you could be! it’s definitely a craft that just requires patience and practice.” she tells them, eunbi leaning down to smell if any of the flowers are fragrant.

she points to a stargazer lily, “this one smells so lovely.” she smiles brightly, “if we do find a stall we should get a couple of these.” she gives anran’s arm a friendly squeeze. "how have you been?" she asks, “work keeping you busy?”
