순천맛집 - Best Restaurants in Suncheon

Suncheon was a city that I visited frequently as it was the next major city closest to my town. All I had to do was take a local bus for 15 mins and I would be in Suncheon already! 광양맛집 - Best food places in Gwangyang

These are most of the places I visited back in 2015-2016. I know this city is far from Seoul but if you’re in the Jeolla province I hope you can pay a visit!!  1. Bulgogi - Bulgogi Street  Gwangyang is where Bulgogi originated from. You must try it here on the charcoal grill!! The marinated sauce with the technique of cooking is indescribable :) 2. Soy Sauce Raw Crab -  백도식당 I had another culture shock when I found out my kids would eat raw crabs for breakfast. Raw seafood? FOR BREAKFAST? I was just so confused. But I ended up falling in love with this dish so much that whenever I’m in Korea I HAVE TO eat this before I leave.  3. Stone pot rice - 우성정 I love coming here because the meal reminds me of home cooking :’( Stone pot rice is honestly so much better than regular white rice in my opinion. You get to pout water in the leftover pot and have rice soup afterwards which is really good for digestion. It comes with grilled fish and so many amazing side dishes all for just $12!!!! Btw, I dont mean like 3 side dishes, i mean like 10. Really.  Another place for pot rice - 광양 영양돌솥밥

4. Buckwheat noodles - 의령소바  Vegan friendly!! Sometimes I dont like buckwheat noodles because its too bitter for my taste but this place is so good!! I come here all the time for jajjangmyun and cold noodles naengmyun!!  5. Rice & Soup (국밥) - 장성금 국밥 Known for their amazing soup base and Traditional Sundae Blood Sausages Soup.  6. Jeollanam-do Travels

My favourite province in Korea, where everything ends in 잉~ (yes I’d like to think our satoori is the best heh) and is known for having the most traditional and best tasting Korean food. Jeolla pride !!!!  Here’s a list of cities I’ve personally visited ^^ to be later updated with 맛집 and places to visit ! Jeollabuk-do:  1. Jeonju  Jeollanam-do:  1. Mokpo 2. Gwangju  3. Damyang 4. Transportation to other cities in South Korea

Living at the rock bottom of South Korea in a small town called Gwangyang-eup, I have learned to really know how to travel anywhere. I’ve been to over 15 cities in South Korea within one year, I basically bought a bus ticket to somewhere almost every weekend.  Here are a few tips that can hopefully help those who will soon be living in South Korea, or hoping to travel around South Korea. (there’s lots more to Korea than Seoul) 

1. Bus terminals  EVERY CITY has a bus terminal. In fact sometimes there are two, one called the Inter-city Bus Terminal (시외버스터미널) and the Express Bus Terminal (고속터미널).  If you are going to a small town that doesn’t have their own bus terminal/train stop, you’ll have to bus to the nearest bus terminal and take a local bus that will pass through that town. 

2. Bus tickets! 

You can get your bus ticket at the terminal itself or......you can reserve them online! Tip: RESERVE THEM ONLINE IT WILL SAVE YOUR BUTT. 

Express busses are basically going to main cities or further locations without stopping at any other stop than the location you bought.  Direct busses may or may not stop at other cities/towns along the way to the final location.  Websites:  Express only - http://www.kobus.co.kr/web/main/index.jsp  (english website available)  Both - https://www.busterminal.or.kr/ https://www.bustago.or.kr/newweb/kr/index.do https://www.hticket.co.kr/main.action Tip: Sometimes you’ll need to use one website for going and a different website for coming back.
