Many people in the country wants a real change so lots of them voted for President Rodrigo Roa Duterte also known as president Digong last May 9, 2016 and won the election by a landslide. There are five people who fought for the presidential position. One of the campaign and promises of the Duterte’ s administration is to stop the crime and drugs. He said that he will suppressed the drugs, crimes and corruption in the government within three to six months and lots of people believed and supported him in this fight. He is the mayor of Davao City before he became the president of the Philippines. He is the first president came from Mindanao and also the oldest person who got the presidential position. The most known thing he did in his current administration is the Oplan Tokhang or the Philippines war on drugs. Oplan tokhang means that policemen will knocks on the door of the suspected drug users and plead them to surrender. Though the said pleading is not what we are seeing right now. Lots of drug users and pushers surrendered themselves in the start of this oplan tokhang because they are afraid that they might be killed. Many suspected drug users were killed for the past months in Duterte’s administration started from July 1, 2016. Many of us were familiar to the cardboard placed at the top of the killed person saying “Drug user ako” right? Majority of the people condemned this extrajudicial killings in the country because there are lots of people who have been killed and it’s very disturbing. They said that some people who died were not really into drugs. We have the commandment that says “Thou shall not kill” but hundreds and thousand of people were killed in just a year by some anonymous people. Like the case of 17 year old Kian Delos Santos which became a really big case in the country last august 16, 2017. He’s been shot by the police officers conducting an anti-drug operation in Caloocan, Metro Manila. Kian wants to be a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy and in favour of the drug war. He is not also in the police watched list but believed that he is a drug runner. The cctv footage and the witness statement differs from what the policemen who shot him to dead said. It is very controversial issue here in the country because lots of people who knew Kian contradicts that he is a drug runner. The hashtag JusticeforKian became trending in August 18. There is also a rally called Himagsikan for Kian last August21 in the People Power Monument in Quezon City. In my opinion, the presidents war on drugs is good but the process or the action is very disturbing especially in our country where people are very religious. I think that many of the people are against of it because life is very important. Killing is not the solution to lessen the crime and the problems in drugs. There might be other solution where life is not at stake. We should give importance on everyone’s life. Well, maybe drug users and drug pushers can change their life with a proper action of the government.

Technologies nowadays specifically the social media have a huge part in our life. They were used for us to communicate with our loved ones that are far from us. Technologies did so much help for our life or rather works to be easier. On the contrary, so much use of this said technologies can also ruin us a lot emotionally, physically or mentally. In our print journalism class last tuesday, our professor let us watch a movie entitled “Nerve" as a part of her lesson. When I first heard the title of it, I thought it was all about science fiction or related with human bodies but I was wrong. There are lots of twists in the story which made us very excited to watch every scenes or follow the storyline. So here it goes, it is all about a girl named Venus or Vee played by Emma Roberts who is afraid to take risks and such things. Her friends especially Sydney got addicted to the game “Nerve" which is all about a dare game which was given by other players. In this game, you can be a watcher or a player. There are three things you shouldn't do in this game once you started it; don't bail, don't fail and don't snitch. So because of the thing that her long time crush didn't like her, she joined the said game. In this game, her first dare is to kiss a stranger for five seconds, and thats the time she met Ian, also a player of the game. They have lots of dares together but when Sydney found out Vee got many watchers than her, she became insecured. Then at the end, Sydney and Vee became friends again and did a plan with others to stop the game because it is very dangerous. I just realized after watching this movie is that every one can be eaten by technologies. So much exposure in video games or social media can put one life in danger. I just realized that technologies should not be the one who will control us but rather the vice versa, we shoul be the one who will control them. It is a very good movie because it can awake the awareness or media literacy of every one. Nowadays, lots of things changed because of this technologies, there are times that we are being so transparent in posting online rather than to keep our privacy. Media or technologies are wise but we should be more wiser than them.

#DrPioValenzuela148

After I visited and observed the facebook account of Ms.Chiara Zambrano, I have some realizations about it. She was very eager to update and informed the people visiting her account, though sometimes her posts were late. Her posts were brief but it was direct to the point. The way she posts or put captions on the picture is really good. She captivates the attention of the readers through the way of how she creatively creates a caption. For example, the picture of the window with a hole because of it was also fired. If you will just see the picture, it seems like a normal window that was fired but the way she put a caption on the picture, it seems like she is telling a story. Just a week ago, she posted that she will publicized her account for the people to know everything about the war in Marawi, this shows that she was a responsible journalist because eventhough some people will criticized her and her privacy was at stake, she still wants the people to be informed. She is a good journalist, a very good one. My realization after reading her posts was you don't need a very long post just to inform the people, even a brief one can inform them and catch their attention. As a media practitioner, your goal is to inform and your responsibility is your people. That no matter what happen, that eventhough your privacy was at stake, you need to pursue your responsibility. That eventhough there are some people who will criticize you, you need to fullfill your duty no matter what. A real journalists was not afraid of consequences, they are afraid of not being credible enough to serve the people and not fulfilling their responsibility.
