i feel like the wider internet should learn more about the kingdom hearts series bc going into it i expected sora to be wildly different to how he actually is. i expected like a boy madoka crossed with deku mha vibe. this is not sora. sora lands in a foreign world at 14 after having his destroyed with him on it and immediately starts a fight with cid. sora has to be held back by his disney dads multiple times because he wont stop taunting the organization because he wants to murder them more. sora is actively insane about his boy bestfriend and frankly if riku tried to run off anymore than he actually did i believe that little sora could have and would have resorted to kidnapping. like ya hes kind and empathetic but his friends are his power and if needed he will use said power to snap a bitch in half.

one thing about the kingdom hearts series that has impacted me the most is the amount of positivity and raw hope embedded in the whole narrative. i can trust it to have a happy ending, even if a little bittersweet. and for me, that's why i love it. the second game's ending never fails to make me remember why i think life is beautiful.
it's incredibly difficult to find games (or any media, really) that wholeheartedly lean into themes of learning to love yourself despite external pressure, regaining self confidence and the trust of others after making mistakes and keeping in touch with your inner child even after getting older.
no matter how the fanbase treats the story, i see it for what it is: a place of comfort amidst life's woes; a story that refuses to concede to the negativity and the sort of angst (though it does have its own type of 'darkness') that's popular today. it's my safe space. for a series to stick to its foundation for 20-something years is amazing. i don't care for fandom, discourse, shipping wars or things like that. this story is just really nourishing for my inner child. i think that's the point. no matter how 4 changes things, it's my hope that sora keeps in touch with his heart and stays true to himself and his kindness. i also really, really want a happy ending when everything concludes. i wish that for everyone, but especially the destiny islands trio, i know they'll need it.

I'm tired of people parroting that Disney was the reason some things didn't happen in KH3
For some reason there is this idea that "Elsa was originally going to turn to darkness but then Disney stepped in and made sure that didn't happen" and it's absolutely insane because it's not true at all. It somehow got extremely popular and people began to count it as real when there's no proof of this at all.
The devs never mentioned anything about this at all. Disney also isn't even that involved with KH. This is more like Square's well Nomura's project with the permission from Disney to use their assets. Disney hardly ever sells their own merch of KH and rarely promotes it. When Sora got into smash, it took awhile because of Nomura— Disney was okay with it from the start.
These people who claim this don't even say it's not confirmed, people count this as fact when there could have been other reasons that the world is why it is like this. Remember that KH3 had development issues and was even postponed several times. Nomura and the other devs could also have wanted the world to be like this.
I'm tired of people acting like this was the case when it's not.

What religious trauma can do to a mf who said that
Eraqus and Xehanort’s stories serve as a powerful reminder of how extreme ideologies can lead to corruption. Eraqus’s unwavering devotion to light and Xehanort’s embrace of darkness both resulted in flawed paths.
#xehaqus#master eraqus#master xehanort#kingdom hearts#ill always think of Eraqus' adoration for light as him devoting himself to like a god or something

His spiky hair and his big ol eyes are gone😔
Am I the only one who thinks Sora barely looks like himself in the newest KH4 screenshots...? All the subtle stylization that made him feel like himself to me is all gone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not just nostalgic for the old models, I liked his KH3 one a lot and it had a similar modern look. He just looks so generic now :(

The idea of Xehanort and eraqus actually adopting Terra when he was just a kid it's actually so funny to me, because imagine you hear your dads fight but actually this is like a falsettos situation where they only fight as a form of foreplay and then they get divorced, but you're still a kid so you don't know if they're gonna make you play outside or if they're being fr
#kingdom hearts#xehanort#eraqus#kh#terra#xehaqus#poor terra#my biggest condolences#but the idea of it its just too funny

so imagine like. you have this coworker. and hes an asshole in general, you dont like him, nobody else likes him. but the relevant thing is that he is just really, really into arthurian legend. very into medieval literature, very into the post-roman anglo saxons, doesnt really strike you as the nerdy type but he knows a lot about it. he spends a bunch of work hours researching allegedly arthurian artifacts, and even pulls rank and convinces one of your other coworkers to also research this stuff (by lying and saying one of the higher-ups wanted it). in fact, he claims his entire motivation for working at this job is that your boss has promised to give him an actual 5th century sword. but it's like. you dont know how much of this to take seriously. it wouldnt be out of character for him to be entirely bullshitting you. so whatever.
and then after you quit and the company falls apart and you think youre never gonna see him again, you find out that your asshole coworker is, actually, Sir Lancelot, and him working at that job was all part of his preparation for the return of the actual King Arthur.
that would be the experience of everybody who was in Organization XIII finding out that Xigbar is Luxu.

"teens are prone to tantrums and are emotionally unstable" - okay, yeah, puberty is real, and emotional regulation is a difficult skill to learn. but also. any adult person would be pissed if their opinions were disregarded, they had no say in what happens to them, their emotions and feelings were downplayed and their privacy were intruded on.
