I finally watched The Sound of Music and like I get it now, I get it. 

It’s a beautiful two hour love story of a strict man finally opening his heart again and then a fifty minute public service announcement to hate the nazis. Brilliant.

I cannot tell you how wonderful and bizarre it is to see people happily and unironically posting good things about Superman and it's MAINSTREAM. It's like I've been living in a desert for 20 years and then suddenly a waterfall has been dumped on me.

People get it now! It's about choosing to be good! It's about choosing to be kind! The power fantasy is not "man who is powerful." The fantasy is "man who is powerful is GOOD because he CHOOSES to be GOOD." And that is something that is powerful! And something that is DIFFICULT in a world that can so often be cruel. And every time binghe manages to recreate one of this strange dishes his husband always ends up inviting Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun for dinner.
