Finally listening to the Matpat shut up I'm talking episode and when tommyinnit said their show on the survival tour was. Really gay. Gayer than he wrote the script and that Matpat took creative liberties. Matpat said that as an actor he was reading the script and trying to decide the best line reads for each line and he found gay subtext and just leaned into it as much as possible because it was a "stronger acting choice".

Matpat really said "you know what would make this show more compelling? If I acted this script out like I was in love with Tommyinnit" and then COMMITTED.

its still surreal that like, the Watchers are like, a thing again. It feels very poetic in a way that a surge of attention to them from the audience, who are the watchers, pushed them back into the creator eye.

some of you really aren’t gonna like this, but a creator’s wishes should never dictate what fan content is produced for a piece of media.

in the past, authors like anne rice have tried to limit the production of fanfiction. but at least rice was honest - she thought this infringed on her copywrite. back in the day, this was considered a valid argument to not create any fanfiction at all for her works.

do you understand what i’m saying? while you may sound valiant for placing a creator’s “discomfort” above the fan’s natural proclivities in fandom, really you’re just continuing to advocate for censorship in fan spaces.

and for anyone who is a creator, or who wants to become one - get comfortable with the rules of the internet. there will be erotic content made of your characters, there will be weird AUs made with your characters. there will be strange pairings and headcanons, no matter if you interact religiously with the fans or not. you cannot stop people from connecting with and wanting to be creative with your characters.

has enough time passed for me to say that it's actually kind of hilarious that a substantial amount of dream smp lore revolved around everyone's collective realization that wilbur's character was not in fact someone to be idolized and put up on a pedestal but a self pitying, self destructive mentally ill man who had lost all perspective in his life and was hellbent on burning all his bridges. and then it turned out all of that was applicable to the real life man also
