here’s a random headcanon post at 3:30 am! this time, about fire’s team -- he has a lot of pokémon in the box, so this post will be about his traveling team!

note: the leaf i refer to can be found here!

charizard, male. hardy nature. met in pallet town at level 5.  fire’s first pokémon, given to him by professor oak when he and leaf set out on their journey together. after traveling three regions together, charizard knows and trusts fire deeply. he's one of fire’s only team members that is aware of fire distancing himself from his team emotionally. he tries to break fire of that in the best ways that he can, but has also accepted that fire may never change. he’s completely dedicated to fire either way as they have endured a lot together. 

machamp, male. brave nature. met in rock tunnel at level 16. caught as a machop while exploring rock tunnel. machamp has a big personality and a drive to protect fire and his friends, though he can be a bit dense. he was temporarily traded to leaf so he could evolve. due to this, he’s grown attached to leaf, too, and desires to protect her as well as if he were her own pokémon.

magnezone, genderless. quiet nature. met in power plant at level 22. originally caught as a magnemite. fire’s only exposure to electric types had been pikachu, which he associated with red, so he wanted to try something different. magnemite found a niche on fire’s team due to their typing and proved to be a surprising force upon evolution. he even brought them along and kept them on his team during his training in sinnoh, where they evolved into a magnezone. magnezone has always been out of the way and obedient, which causes them to fade into the background at times, though fire recognizes them for their power. 

marowak, female. lonely nature. met in pokémon tower at level 15. after another spirit in pokémon tower was calmed by fire and leaf, they found a mourning cubone who became attached to fire upon first sight. he caught the cubone, not just out of pity, but because in his own way, he could understand the cubone’s loneliness. fire may distance himself from his pokémon but that doesn’t stop him from doing what he can to help his marowak find a place to belong. that place just happened to be on his team. marowak also became very attached to leaf, seeing her as a mother and fire as a father. 

vaporeon, male. calm nature. met in celadon condominiums at level 25.  while exploring celadon city, fire and leaf discovered seemingly abandoned pokéballs, both containing eevee. vaporeon is naturally quiet and collected, which helps balance fire’s explosive nature ( especially in battles ). he was evolved into a vaporeon due to the beneficial nature. vaporeon tends to keep his distance from the team, but is still loyal and obedient.

tangela, female. relaxed nature. met in route 21 at level 28.  a very lazy tangela that fire accidentally ran into during the travel back around to viridian city. she never learned ancient power, so she never evolved. fire tends to slack off on training when it comes to tangela, and it doesn’t help that she never asserts herself ( not because she’s afraid, but because she doesn’t really care ). however, her sturdy willpower and body allow her to be an asset to her team in her own way. she was the last piece of the puzzle that fit surprisingly well on fire’s team.

                   well, this is a rare occasion. sure, it may be for the sake of getting fire to stop talking about a game -- which is a stupid reason -- but ... if he pushes him away for some stupid game, he may not get the chance again.

                      “ hmmm ... ” he crossed his arms, huffing and pretending to think. as if it made a difference. after a minute, he fell onto red’s chest and wrapped his arms around him. “ only for a minute. ”
