Onko torstaisin hernekeiton ja pannukakun syöminen oikeesti joku juttu suomessa vai keksiks mun äiti tän
Ite en tiedä ketään joka oikeasti säännöllisesti söis hernekeittoa nimenomaan tostaisin, mutta se on silti sen verran yleisesti tunnettu asia että yksi tölkkivalmisruuan valmistaja on mainostanut hernekeittojaan kampanjalla jossa on vaan kuva siitä hernekeittotölkistä ja teksti Torstai. Sellasella "you already know what tf is going on" hengellä. It's fucking thursday my dudes, peasoup time.

Genshin Impact Nod-Krai's finnish observations
So the Livestream for Nod-Krai just ended and I'm super exicted for it! Ever since we knew that Sneznya was going to be inspired by more northern cultures, I've been hoping that something from Finland would make it into the game. And now it has! I might have missed some stuff but these are some things I noticed:
The Isle of Paha and Hiisi. Paha translates into bad/evil, so the Fatui building on Evil Isle is pretty funny. Hiisi in turn means a saceret place, usually a body of close to a body of water. Later it has taken on the meaning of the spirit that lived in that place and even later to mean a bad/evil spirit.
Aino and her robot thingy that gives you mats. Aino's name is a very common one in Finland and means "the only one" (coming from the word "ainoa"). Her robot thingy, although having nothing to do with Finland, reminds me of Sampo from Kalevala, Finlands national epic. In Kalevala, Sampo is a machine created by Ilmarinen who is an inventor/black smith/ God of the Sky. Sampo's purpose was to give it's owner unlimited wealth, grain and salt. So this robot giving you mats in Genshin and it being created by a inventr who has a finnish name (which also seems to originate from Kalevala) seems interesting.
All the something-kuu. Kuu in finnish means moon or month. Nod-Krai using moon powered stuff and it it being named "-kuu" is a really clear nod to Finland. Also "Kuutar" just means a moon goddess, although I've never seen "Kuutar" in my life. But the sufficx -tar makes it a goddes- God->Jumala, Goddess->Jumalatar.
Oh and Lauma, who I've heard has influence from Latvia, just means a herd, like a herd of sheep->Lammas lauma, in finnish.
(ESL and not proofread at all lol excuse all the grammar mistakes)

during my finnish studies i sometimes wonder if people back then got into fistfights to decide what would be the word for, like, bunny. did everyone just peacefully agree when someone said "that animal will be pupu" or was there a big fight about that? i enjoy wasting my study time wondering about that kinda stuff 🙏🏻
(for the record, i do think pupu was a great word choice. I can definitely see "pupu" when I look at a bunny, really incorporates the animal 🙌👏)

Often when my cats come asking for food when I know there’s people closer to their food source than I am, I try to explain it to them.
Understanding that their biggest problem is not the lack of food but lack of thumbs to open the cupboard and packages I tell them that there’s someone with hands in the kitchen.
The thing is that in Finnish when we say “someone with hands” - käsi (hand) + llinen (derivational affix to make adjectives) = kädellinen - I’m being both weirdly specific and vague at the same time because the very same word also means primate in Finnish.
There is someone with hands in the kitchen alright - but is it a human? Go and check!
