What was it with the sudden presence of youkai everywhere? It just seems as if they've suddenly appeared after a long hibernation, melting in with the human populace as if they wanted to have a normal life. And perhaps they would succeed at that too.
Despite the music that was constantly playing in her ears, Tomie did manage to feel the presence of other youkai nearby, but couldn't decipher about exactly what kind they were. It is a bit of a distraction, but this is probably what she has to bear with. After all, she is a yosuzume herself.
Turning her head to the direction in which she had managed to detect the presence of the currently unknown youkai, what catched her eyes turned out to be a young woman whose red eyes seemed to be a contrast to the otherwise somewhat normal physical appearance she possessed, with her black hair going down to her chest, not to mention the fair complexion. It truly gave Tomie the impression of the girl being a yamato nadeshiko.
"Another bird youkai, maybe?" she uttered quietly, almost as if she tried to get an answer out of thin air.

The tranquility of the day as how it passed truly inspired Tomie to pick one of the more calmer and relaxing songs that she had added in on her phone, being that of something that was sometimes performed on certain graduation ceremonies. Holding her phone in a steady grip as she walked outside of the doors belonging to her school's building, she went through her usual habit of singing along rather loudly.
"One of these days, we'll meet here again, so until that day... I want you to grow stronger and never-give-up, like the flowers that bloom--"
Similar to the sudden scratch of a record needle, Tomie came to a halt, her singing voice doing the same. A woman, probably a bit older than her, was sitting down near the fence outside the gate. Although she did look human, there was something about her that was a bit... off. Of course it was difficult to tell from this distance, so she could be a normal human as well. "Maybe I should ask her about what she is doing" was all that came up to her head, as if it was a reflex.
Pausing the music on her phone, Tomie walked up to her, stopping right as she had walked past the gate. Turning slightly to the right so that she could face the stranger, a question often asked was uttered in Tomie's usual polite tone.
"Uhm, hello. I noticed that you were sitting here, are you perhaps waiting for someone?" At this distance, she truly could feel that there was something off with this unfamiliar being, but she couldn't put her finger on exactly what.

The young woman took a wrong turn somewhere. Brown eyes probed the slip of paper in her hands then the available street signs and ultimately came to the conclusion that she was in fact lost. Then and there she swore to herself that she would never let the parasitic being freeloading on her skull give out directions. “I don’t know why I listen to you sometimes.” She grunted and adjusted the but in her hair as well as pulling her parka tighter around her body.
Looking up once more she came to find that she was in front of a school. Ah, how long had it been since she had come face to face with one of these? Granted, she doesn’t really recall ever sitting foot inside a classroom to begin with, but perhaps one of the student body would take pity on the young woman and kindly offer directions. And so she sat down along the fence, back resting on the wrought-iron bars and her bum chilled by cold brick. A low rumble shook the pit of her chest and she sneered, “Quit whining, I didn’t even put that much mouse in my hair…”

Ah, the silence of the empty room in which she was standing in. As if the brightness of the blue yet slightly cloudy sky gave in an extra light source through the windows, Tomie was standing there, embracing the calming atmosphere that always seemed to make her feel tranquil. No one but her was in this room for musical practice, making it a perfect time for practicing. After all, she truly wished to have a career in the music industry when she's on her own.
Well, at least it could have been a good idea if someone hadn't suddenly slammed the door open just as she had prepared to sing the first string of words belonging to a song she adored.

Turning around to face the one who was responsible for the sudden interruption, Tomie did her best to not sound irritated. It was another student, probably around her age.
"Ah? Excuse me, but do you need something?" she asked, to this unfamiliar girl.

"Around here… Maybe?"
Strong supernatural presences had been popping up with disturbing frequency lately. There had always been one at school, but it had never really done anything before… Yet, with the sudden appearance of yet more youkai, Mamoru was beginning to worry. Investigating the presence, instead of continuing to ignore it, was inevitable.
It was lunch hour, and she’d wolfed down her bento and immediately set off, sealing charms in hand, to track down the youkai in her school. There weren’t many students down this wing of the school, so it wouldn’t be hard to locate her target.
Turning a corner, she arrived at some music practice rooms. She couldn’t hear any instruments yet, but the presence was certainly strongest here. Taking a deep breath, she followed it for a few more steps until she arrived at the door where it was strongest.
Without warning, she slammed it open and stepped inside, clutching her charms tightly. This was it.
