Is Sparks Fly the longest time between a song being a demo and making it onto an album? Feb 2007 to Oct 2010?

I know This Love would be high on the list too - Oct 2012 (?) to Oct 2014…

its certainly up there! excluding vault songs, here are some other long stretches:

i’m only me when i’m with you was first recorded january 2004 and released november 2007 (46 months)

sparks fly (44 months)

come in with the rain was being preformed in july 2006 and was registered with sony at the same time as stay beautiful and mary’s song, which makes me fairly certain it was demoed pre-debut. so roughly, july 2006-october 2009 (~39 months) (i’m not as confident the other side of the door got demoed in pre-debut (at the earliest i’d guess december 2006, but likely march 2007) but it was also played in july 2006 and was released october 2009 (so ~39-31 months))

invisible was demoed october 2004 and released november 2007 (37 months)

for standard album tracks, it’s easily the longest

i've been watching a bunch of 1989 era interviews lately and watching her soul slowly die is. so crazy to watch. early 2014 she's bouncing of the walls so excited to release 1989 and then by the time the tours wrapping up she's just like. i've been hunted by paparazzi every day of my life since i was a child and i will never escape them. i smile in my sleep because i'm so used to cameras on me while i have nightmares about being framed for a crime i din't commit. i can tell people are starting to resent me and i know i'll be eaten alive soon i just don't know when or why it will happen. i feel relaxed right now.

okay so a few things to say here:

the daily mail article that broke this story is an accurate reflection of the court filing

the court filing is based on hearsay - baldoni’s attorneys have no proof of any extortion, they just have “heard” from a “good source” that this happened. that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.

blake’s lawyer has denied it, and i’m inclined to believe that denial, although clearly the friendship situation sucks.

all of this remains immaterial to the issue at hand, which is that baldoni sexually harassed blake at work and is trying to ruin her life because she came forward about it.

taylor becoming a pawn for both sides here - the fact that extortion is even being mentioned is crazy - is why her first public comment on this matter is that she wanted nothing to do with any of this. hopefully people understand that now.

beyond that, we’ll see how this plays out. just so absolutely awful.
