The Lady Who Put Colors To Threads Of Lives

Priyanka Bapna started working with few designers in couture and home décor, but her fascination for prints and entrepreneurship was still floating. She wanted to get out there and prove her worth to the world as an independent designer and businesswoman. Her ambitions got wings when she her starting off a start-up, a boutique in Mumbai, with two of her friends.

While working for the boutique Bapna developed an interest towards retail. Her decision to stay back and exploring her options in India helped her recognize the meaning behind her association with fashion much later in life, which gave rise to a hope named Meemansa.

With an investment of mere INR 20,000, she kickstarted her venture with just three employees in the year 1998. Much early in her life, she noticed that there were more men in the labour industry than women; she felt that to be unfair and wanted the talents to break even. She set up her venture to encourage women employment and emancipation. She also believes in providing equal opportunities to everyone.

Today, Bapna’s Meemansa outsources more than 60,000 garments to such labour allowing the women to facilitate her family with better livelihood. Bapna makes sure that the women are paid at par with the Maharashtra state regulations for unskilled labour. The laborers do not get paid anything below INR 5850 per month.

Priyanka is the woman behind adding all the colours from the rainbow to threads of lives of the women and others associated to Meemansa.

It’s Time to safeguard your wood with TSP99
