Just to clarify, there's a bill that would STOP credit card companies from controlling who's allowed to spend money on porn or "risque" (read: queer) content. Man ok so. Yesterday’s Dracula Daily installment has me thinking about the parallels that I hadn’t noticed until this year between Jonathan and Renfield. Trapped in a house by a man who calls you friend but treats you like a prisoner. Who brings you what you ask for, sometimes, when it suits him. Who goes through your things when you fall asleep and wants to read your most private thoughts, if he can only manage. Who wants to make you more like himself.

It will be interesting to see if there are more parallels between them that I didn’t pick up on in previous years or if it’s just that, but man it’s nice to have a reminder of how much a text can hold if you reread it enough, and especially when it’s paced out like this so you really have to sit and mull on each section.

It is so annoying when people respond to "the queer community has an anti-masc problem" with "well society loves and praises masculinity!" Okay... yes... but that's not what we're talking about 😭 The queer community �� society as a whole. Also? The society that praises masculinity does NOT praise queer masculinity. Cishet society does not praise butches, masculine trans people, or anyone who is masc in a queer way. And unfortunately, many queer people have this same problem.

i think it's funny when people say "yeah the writers use they/them for this character but that doesn't necessarily mean the character is nonbinary" because i guess it's true but by that logic i can say "yeah this character is referred to with he/him but they never say he's a man so i can do whatever i want" which i may actually start doing because it sounds based as fuck. if you want me to believe that action hero is a man maybe you should've been more direct about it smh.

Tumblr really stumbled into a beautiful feature with the whole "tags are separated from the main post" (as they should be, they're metadata) + "tags can be as long as entire tweets" thing. They make a really nice form of textual subvocalization/whisper mode/aside/whatever (they're flexible!).

I keep finding myself wanting to make such asides on other sites and find myself subtly irritated that I can't. I wanna elaborate in a way that is diminished compared to the main post!

Just found out there's a new species of gall wasp named after River Song, Ceroptres songae!

The species in the genus are parasitoid wasps who "invade an existing gall and take the resources that were meant to develop in those galls and act as usurpers of those galls" and thus the scientists who described them named them for characters and figures that are thieves, usurpers and things along those lines.

macbeth is shakespeare’s funniest tragedy and mr. macbeth is the funniest character in macbeth. he listens to these creepy old women tell him he’s gonna be king and IMMEDIATELY decides the only thing he can POSSIBLY do is kill a guy and then he waffles about it for a full act and finally comes to the conclusion that it’s morally wrong and then HE DOES IT ANYWAY and his entire fucking life falls apart with an inevitability that is genuinely hilarious
