The way my heart doesn’t listen and it just keeps wishing you were close to me so that its beat will synchronize with yours.

Hello.
Going back in time a bit, it’s your Koala. Our journey began way before, on-and-off for a good couple of months that I believe was worth the wait. From me admiring you from afar, to us being friends, you crushing on me, then here we are.
I was your secret admirer, and now I’m your biggest fan.

Just a very random one-shot that I don’t know if it has any correlation with the purpose of asking you to date me or not but it’s still cute.
“Are you sure it’s x = 5 and not x = -5?” Amara asked, fidgeting with the hem of her sweater and chewing on the tip of her pen. Luke sighed in response. “For the last time, yes, Amara. I’m sure. If you don’t trust me try searching it up on Google or something.”
He kept his eyes securely on the sheets of paper in front of him, it would seem that he was in raptures with the indecipherable numbers and formulas which adorned his worksheets like a Jackson Pollock painting. He thought he might have spotted a tear stain amongst the mass of parchment, but he wasn’t willing to bet a coin out of his pocket.
Math was never his best subject, preferring English Literature and Art. You know, just the typical art student type of beat. If the numbers involved weren’t in regards to money, you would most likely see him snoozing the class away.
And that’s where he finds himself right now, sitting on the carpet of his room with a girl, albeit incredibly smart at a subject he isn’t good at, and who utterly hates his guts. That’s—that’s probably an overstatement but it’s still the same. She wouldn’t even look him in the eye and they’ve been halting this project for almost a week and it’s close to the due date already. He guessed that she’s shy, but she was the homecoming queen for God’s sake. Was there just something on his teeth?
“Why don’t they just… do it?” It’s not that easy, Amara wouldn’t utter a single a word to him unless it was something to contradict what he was saying. She even ran away when he called her name on school! He had to chase her around the halls with a half-eaten sandwich on his hand and a cherry tomato stuck to his teeth. It was the most embarrassing moment of his highschool life.
After a constant cycle of avoiding, running on the halls, and almost being caught by a teacher by doing so, Luke successfully pinned her after class. He locked the door right before she was about to head out and saw her curse under her breath.
He sighed. “Please, can you stop avoiding me so we can start on the project? It’s worth 70% of our grade and I really would hate to fail again.” She nodded but didn’t meet his eyes. At least she isn’t avoiding you, a little voice in his head was saying.
“Alright, tomorrow after school at my house? I’ll text you the address, just give me your number.” He turned on his phone and handed it to her. She took it then quickly typed her number before giving it back to him. He bid her a goodbye and left.
One would think that if the teachers were going to keep insisting on giving out assignments worth more than half of their grades that it’ll at least be due in a month or so, that they would at least provide a reasonable time for the students to finish the projects and not have it due the next week. But, no. This was given at Friday with only 7 days to work and it’s not the first time. Maybe this was all some grand plan to bring the students together over the shared trial of short deadlines. Maybe he could spear-head a coup against the teachers. Maybe that was the team-building exercise: the vicious murder of the teachers for putting the rest of the students through this gastro-trial.
Deciding that he needs a break, Luke drops his pen and paper on the floor and gets up to turn on the stereo speaker until a piano started playing.
“Who’s this?” Amara asked after a moment of listening. He raises his eyebrow and leans his body on his bedside table. “Oh? So you can say something else other than ‘You’re wrong and I’m right’ now?” She scoffed and mumbled an inaudible “Shut up.”
Shifting his weight to his other foot and fidgeting with the figurines displayed on the table, he said, “It’s Luke Faulkner.”
Amused, Amara chuckled. “Really? That’s oddly narcissistic of you.” He rolled his eyes upon hearing her comment. “It’s not narcissistic, he’s just good.”
A painful silence started to form around them, the piano still playing in the background. Amara was trying to figure out the solution to a problem written on her part of the paper, but not being able to do so with Luke’s eyes so intensely kept on her.
“Why do you keep avoiding me?” He thought out loud, making her jump. He tried to hide his forming smile with an awkward cough.
“I don’t.” She answered firmly. He raised his eyebrow again. “Really?” She nodded, daring him to continue. Not wanting to press the subject any further and possibly result to an unwanted argument that can halt their progress, he raised his hands in defeat and said, “Okay, okay.”
Still not meeting his eyes, she asked. “What’s your WiFi password?”
“Didn’t your mom taught you to say ‘please’ when you’re asking for something?” He smiled coyly. She glared straight at his eyes and rolled her eyes before saying a forced “Please.”
Letting out a chuckle, he stood straighter and went to sit at his previous spot across from her. “You should start looking at me with your eyes more. They’re pretty.”
Both startled and nervous, she didn’t even notice that she dropped her pen and started to ‘write’ with just her hands. “What?”
He asked her back the same, “What?”
She cleared her throat, adjusting her sitting position. Hands on a writing position but still not grasping the pen. “What’s your WiFi password?”
“My, what?”
“Your WiFi password.” She deadpanned, both of them indulged at a staring contest with each other.
“Oh, right. It’s amara. A-M-A-R-A. All lowercase with no symbols or anything.” Answered Luke with a straight face, shrugging as if he just forecasted the weather.
“What?”
“Why do you keep asking me ‘What’?”
“I’m serious.”
“I am too.”
“Is that your sister’s name?”
“I don’t have a sister.”
“Your mom’s, then?”
“Her name’s not that either.”
“Then-“
He chuckled. “Duh, it’s your name.”
She dropped her imaginary pen. “Quit joking around.”
Suddenly amused, he grinned. “I’m not joking around, it’s really ‘amara’ all lowercase.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Just tell me the real password, Luke.”
He sighed. “Try it. Do you want to use the WiFi or not?”
“Well, yes. But-“
It worked.
“Oh, did you notice that you dropped your pen twice?”

That bit was completely out of context wasn’t it? But either way, mind sparing me a few added seconds to read this incredibly badly-written love letter?
Sometimes I wonder if we ever think of each other at the same time. And maybe we do? Who knows. Then suddenly now, all the songs I listened to were about you. I’m convinced that you bewitched me or something, because it’s just insane how much I like you.
You make me feel loved, accepted, you make me feel comfortable with your words and your mere presence existing with me. You make me laugh and smile, you make me want to chew off a pillow and bite my fingernails because of how insanely adorable you are.
I want to listen to your stories and hear more about what you do and do not like. The little quirks and habits that makes you, you. I want to talk more about Marvel theories with you and send more random cute TikToks that reminds me of you.
We may not be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in The Crown—we’re way more interesting—but you light up my world more than a Bohlam does.
Get it? No? Okay :(
Amara Iverson, I’m here to ask permission to make you mine and me, yours. So, let me ask you, may I be yours?
Pls say yes. I’ll be waiting.
