The infamous "Flinders highway"

Stretches 900km across inland Queensland from Townsville (coast) to mount Isa (inland)

Since 1970 11people have mysteriously disappeared on this stretch of road including everyone from hitchhiker's to school kids waiting at rural bus stops with many people attributing it to an unapprehended serial killer at work in the area.

In eight of the cases hitchhiker's and school girls were discovered mutilated and dead under a bridge, the rest of the disappearances have not been found.

The most recent case was NYE 2017 (at the beginning of 2017) when jayden penno-tompsett (22) stormed out of a car after a fight with his friend and was never seen again.

All the discovered bodies had been killed and buried since February

Corona targeted 1 gay worker, this was proven through a gay porno magazine that had been buried with the aforementioned man.

Police were called to the orchard on May 19,1971 and not long after found a corpse laying in a shallow grave.

It took 15days from the discovery of the 1st corpse (may 19) for authorities to excavate and find 24 more bodies (June 4)

Targeted older-type men between the ages of 40-70yrs old.

Suffered from schizophrenia and reactionary-type psychosis.

Born 1934

Moved to the us illegally in 1950 (16yrs old)

Spent 6yrs in the us initially before being deported back to Mexico.(1956)

Returned to the us (again) in 1962 (6yrs later) where he stayed permanently until his death in prison in 2019.

In February 1970 a man was attacked in the bathroom of coronas half brothers cafe with a machete after he refused natividads sexual advances. So far noone has been held responsible or detained for the crime but nevertheless the man sued natividad and expected $250,000 compensation for the incident.

Corona was assigned a free-of-charge lawyer (Roy can den heuval) by the judge. Roy hired several psychiatrists to perform a psychological evaluation.

Although the sheriff Roy whiteaker,said the prisoner was in no apparent or immediate danger from his fellow townsmen,corona was moved to the new and larger county jail in marysville,on May 30,1971,for "security reasons".

On June 2,corona was returned to Sutter county for "arraingment" (court hearing) which was closed to the media and the public (explaining his low notoriety compared to some other big profile serial killers such as Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer).

A plea of not guilty was entered and a date was set for coronas preliminary hearing.

By the time the search was terminated on June 4, a total of 25 male victims had been discovered.4 of them were unidentified.whiteaker said he believed that even more bodies might have been buried in the area.

On May 19,1971, a farmer who had used corona to contract field workers, noticed a freshly dug hole in his peach orchard,the next day the hole was filled with dirt. The farmer was suspicious and called the police.when they investigated,they found a man's body that had been stabbed and hacked.

In one grave, deputies found 2 meat receipts bearing coronas signature. In another 2 graves,there were 2 bank of America deposit slips printed with coronas name and asddress. This circumstantial evidence gave a added boost to the case.

Witnesses later told the police that some of the victims had been last seen riding in coronas pickup truck.

In the early morning hours of may 26,1971, police entered coronas Yuba City home with a search warrant and arrested him.evidence indicating his guilt was discovered and seized,such as 2 bloodstained knives, a machete, a pistol and bloodstained clothing. There was also a work ledger that contained 34 names and dates,including 7 of the known victims. The ledger came to be known as a "death list" by the prosecution, who alleged it contained the dates the men were murdered.

Corona had been supplying workers to the ranches, where the victims were discovered.he housed many of the men who worked for him in a bunkhouse on Sullivan ranch, where most of the victims were discovered.

Corona died in prison of old age aged 85.

In late December 1955 a flood occurred from the local Yuba City river flooding 400sq km and killing 74 people. It was one of the most destructive and broad of any flood in the history of northern California.

In reaction to this corona had a psychotic break (diagnosed reactionary schizophrenia) and on January 17,1958 was admitted to dewitt state Hospital in Auburn,California.

In the psychiatric hospital he received 23 shock treatments before being pronounced recovered and released 3 months later in April. Immediately upon his release he was deported back to Mexico.

In 1962 corona returned to the US. Legally with a green card. At this time he stopped drinking. Despite schizophrenic episodes and a reported violent temper,corona was regarded as a hard worker.

This same year he became a Licensed Labor contractor. He was in charge of hiring workers to staff the local fruit ranches.

Corona was reportedly very homophobic and angry towards gay people. His half-brother natividad who was gay, owned the guadalajara cafe in marysville across a river from yuba.

Early on the morning of February 25 1970,a young man named Jose romero Raya was brutally attacked with a machete in the restroom of the cafe. He was discovered by customers at 1:00am, hacked about the head and face,and natividad called the police.

Raya filed a lawsuit against natividad winning a judgement of $250,000,which prompted natividad to sell his business and return to Mexico instead of paying.the attack occured after Raya rejected natividad sexual advances.

In March 1970,corona was again admitted to dewitt state Hospital for treatment. A year later in March 1971,he applied for welfare.his application was denied.

His half brother natividad corona had immigrated into the US. 6yrs beforehand and settled in marysville on the opposite side of a river dividing Yuba and Marysville.

Corona at the urging of his half brother- natividad moved to the Marysville/Yuba city area further up north in may 1953 and found work on a local ranch that would later be the scene of the murders.

He at first was married to Gabriella E. Hermosillo on October 24,1953 in Reno Nevada. However 6 years later in 1959 he married Gloria L moreno and they had 4 dauggters.

Was a "homosexual bigot" and reportedly had anger issues towards them.
