I’m laughing and nodding along to all the posts like “she would’ve said yes next to a dumpster” but I’m so glad that Travis put together a proposal that was so beautiful and so her (intimate, private, well executed, with beautiful pictures) because he knows her and wants her to have the experience she deserves and the story to tell.

It’s like: I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings. Like that absolutely should be true but also if your fiancée likes shiny things, get them a nice ring within your budget.

I’ll always feel a little bit sad for my sister whose husband got excited as soon as he got the ring and though he planned to wait for New Year’s Eve I think, proposed the day before thanksgiving one morning right after they woke up. In some ways it’s sweet, he couldn’t wait! But on the other hand, I know my sister and she would’ve liked a proposal story she could tell her friends that involved some planning. She would’ve liked to have her nails done and pictures to show off. Not a proposal that reminded her of his impulse control issues that also included buying shit they don’t need from Amazon (a deeply relatable problem but you know)

Anyways all this to say, its not about how much you spend on the ring or proposal but about showing that you know and pay attention to things your partner wants
