Une question pour les sims 4
Oui, okay, I know that I said never again, but... The CC is SOOO pretty!
I have one thing though, wich is bothering me.
TS3 is mine because I have the disks... Now, my question is :
Can I play Sims 4 without Origin or whatever they're calling it these days highjacking my Sims 3 game?
I remember it was an absolute PITA to get rid of that thing, and to revert my game to before the update from Hell. If I can... well, I have ideas about turning Widerburg in a Rococo world.
If not, I'm outta there and back to funfet Valley
So does anobody knows? Thanks in advance!

A little "mise en bouche" before the potatoes project:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Paris or any French towns were all Hotels Particuliers and such (still does, in a way). They had also their share of slums (will get to that later) and Immeubles de rapport, a lot of them owned by the Church.
They were almost shells, with some beautiful (if I say so myself) buildings facing outside... and a core of smelly waste , gambling and pleasure houses...
Tumblr media
... and sometimes a tiny garden with a well.
I plan to put my version of Casanova in there... And maybe a few ladies of dubious morals.
BTW, do you guys know WCIF:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sims3 Lulamai, of course. Unfortunately the @thesimstomb download link is dead, and I have the Sims file share on speed dial... But my spanish is not what it used to be and after awhile, I'm not sure if I downloded cortinas 17 or not.
What can I say, I'm getting old? Sad but true.
Anyways,if any of you guys can help me out, I'll be grateful.

Convent 4 & end
Hallo hallo!
And back later than I thought... aMAZING HOW FAST weeks go by when you get older... I'm not "Christmas was yesterday"level yet, but getting there.
Hem! So, the closing round on Ste Gudule convent:
Tumblr media
Today we will meet Clotilde de Plumets (Yes, I know I said last time that her name was Blanche, but changed my mind because pun). If Sister Toinon is mother's supérior right arm, she's the left.
She is, also, the only one around that can truly say she's here by choice.
Tumblr media
To be fully honest, her parents were all for it. The de Plumets aren't doing very well, financially speaking (not truly helped by her father habit with cards). Her mother drowry helped for a time, but....
And well, Clotilde is truly her father's daugther, physically speaking... Quite far from the plump beauty standarts of the time, that is. From the beaky nose to her somewhat globulous eyes, she's really looking like a defeathered chicken... Behind her back, a lot of people call her "Sister Gluck", bad pun fully intended, Yeah!
As you can guess, she's not real popular.
Well, she got her looks from her father side, but a surprising skill with numbers from her mother's merchant side... In St Gudule, if Mother Hélène is in charge of PR... She's in charge of finances, and lemme tell ya, the bishop LOVES the convent's contribution to his way of life!
So, one thing is quite evident: Once the over comsumption of chocolates (or whatever else, God knows people died of everything those days) has taken it's toll, every one BUT Sister Toinon knows Sister Gluck is going to be the next Superior.
Nobody is looking forwoard for it.
Especially not:
Tumblr media
Meet Sister Maïté Dussud (yes, I know, I'm bad ;) ), who's in charge of cooking...
I suppose French people guessed.
Now, at that time the great kitchen's of castles and princes was a man's job. On farm's however, women were in charge of cooking.
However, when Maïté family, and more importantly, her husband; passed after a flu epidemic, she couldn't carry the farm by herself, with no sons left.
She did the best she could and gave the farm with land attached to it to the Church, to provide for her surviving daughter éducation and future dowry.
And for herself, she went into service to the Church. After all, cooking for a farm at full swing in harvest season, and a Convent, is not that different.
And she is a really, really good cook (well, except if you're a duck. If you are, start running!). The Bishop will not stay over at Ste Gudule, but he'll gladly get lunch or dinner there.
However, once skinflint Sister Gluck takes charge? Maïté is NOT a fan of lentils soup... especially without tasty smoked ham bits in it.
Tumblr media
Allright, that's it for Funfet Valley convent.
Now , a convent like Ste Gudule housed far more people than that: Around 30/50 nuns and an equivalent numbers of pensionners... but well, my game would explode, so this will have to do.
And next time, more fun: We'll be talking potatoes, guys!!

Convent part 3
Tumblr media
So, left you there yesterday and I'm already back, Yeah!!
Did you have a good night?
So, where does this discretly flight of stairs tucked behind a "paravent" goes? Up, obviously, but what is there?
Tumblr media
First room on the right, those stairs slightly hidden behind the wardrobe and some curtains, "hiding" what everyone knows but doesn't talk about.
Tumblr media
Meet sister Toinon Bouvier. Her parents strongly "encouraged" her religious vocation. They own the shipyard and are quite wealthy, but they are also quite ambitious, wanted their daughters to marry UP.
Unfortunately, they underestimated the aristocracy greed... and by the time it was Toinon's turn, they couldn't face another huuge expense...so... well, you know the music by now. It was always cheaper to pay the church.
Now, as an aside to fellow history buffs a quick note about the aristocracy at the beginning of Louis XVI reign. The world was changing.
Aristocracy's wealth was rooted in the land. Unfortunately a conjunction of solar cycles and Islandic volcanoes combined to create years of failing crops, famine... Dying peasants couldn't pay the brunt of the taxes, so after a while both church, state and Aristocrats started to feel the bite.
The last two did what they usually did: They borrowed (mostly from Jewish bankers... Antisemitism doesn't come out of nowhere). The church was fine, thankyouverymuch... raised their tenants rent a bit. But then comes the times to repay said loans...
Now, at the same time, a new class was really taking form, the seed for the future bourgeoisie, making their fortune it enterprises and businesses the nobles couldn't touch without loosing their status.
Wich they weren't going to do since it was often the only thing they could trade off to restore their finances.
So you have a whole class of people, who are used to have the upper hand, cornered... If you think they were going down without a fight...
Tumblr media
Now, Toinon Bouvier is also ambitious, and she's keeping an eye on the Mother superior place. And that new thing called called chocolate can't be that good in the long term, no?
So in the meantime, she made herself Helène right hand sister, and well, she's easy to like... Giving Toinon hand me down rug when she redid her room... and nice wallpaper for her room too!
What sister Toinon hadn't foreseen was how many times she would have to climb those stairs to get Helen some snacks from the kitchen, or a book she forgot in the salon, and enjoying the company of servants to collect gossip and "keep an eye on my fur cape, will you?
In short, a servant.
And not likely to change, since Toinon is overlooking a small details: She's not an aristocrat. So, the mother superior commission? Not likely.
Tumblr media
Like friend Samkat says, I love building beautiful worlds to house monsters.
So, next time, we will meet Toinon frenemy, Blanche de Plumets.

Convent part 2
Hi guys! Sorry, I promised a follow up and then went away, still busy with medical exams, I frittered my keyboard, so I got a new one... And then my Funfet Valley became weird... I trimmed my latest CC (BTW, the Souris hanging plants set is a problem, it just closed my game 2 seconds flat).
Anyway, there was another problem so I had to go back to an earlier save (and this is why I have separate games for each world... well, that and the CC)
Tumblr media
So,where were we with convent St Gudule (or Ste Gode in Belgium... The peanut gallery is asked to stop snickering)
Tumblr media
Last time we ended with the "students"bedroom, in this building, up the community kitchen.
Tumblr media
Now, time to explore the nuns living quaters?... And meet their occupants (omg, HOURS in dreaded laggy CAS).
But first, the common rooms:
Tumblr media
As I explained earlier, the convent wasn't geared to raising children, and teach them the basics.
No, that was done in other, more rural places. St Gudule was to give a final coat of varnish to be good bride material.
The part with the piano was for the all important dance and deportement lessons, VERY important.
Tumblr media
The salon was to teach etiquette... and since we are in France, the also VERY important art of conversation.
Versailles was not as dirty as people make it out to be nowadays, but it was a war zone of murderous banter and "bons mots" that could, and occasionally did, kill people.
You didn't think the French language became at that time the lingua franca of Diplomacy for the love of poetry, now did you?
Oh, you sweet summer child.
There are quite a few books in there. Those are for the sisters use. One of the rare good things with being locked up in a convent is that you could read a lot... Since you weren't supposed to get out, nobody looked to closely.
Tumblr media
Upstairs, two rooms.
Mother superior's office
Tumblr media
Very respectable and rich as rich can be, as a branch of the catholic church. This is were parents come do discuss and pay their fee, sometimes for just awhile, sometimes for MUCH longer terms.
Because NO ONE enters in a convent without a dime, and it's the mother superior role to haggle.
Tumblr media
Meet Mère Hélène de Coutay. Now, there are some benefits to being Mother Superior: Since your going to rub elbows with high ranking aristocrats and all kind of rich people, you don't have to wear the sisters dress, and can be more in tune with fashion.
Tumblr media
And have nice digs!
Okay, this is supposed to be libarated if the bishop comes... but let's be real, he's not going to stay here when he can stay in the Jesuits place.
So Helen decided to get rid of the violet stuff and do a little interior decorating
Tumblr media
I want you to pay attention to the two portraits there. One is Hélène de Coutay when she came into Ste Gudule, painted to celebrate her conditional engagement to the young man other there.
He was doing his military duty in Nouvelle France (or Louisiane), so it gave parzents a little time before he boarded a ship back to Funfet.
Unfortunately, he didn't came back, being killed in a border "misundanstanding" with the Northen neighbours.
Not the locals, the English of course.
Unfortunately, by then, Helène at 18 was bit to old for the marriage mart, and she had younger sisters that would do better.
So they bought her (for about a fith of the dowry they had agreed to pay) a place in Ste Gudule, with a future as mother Superior when the time came, they would make sure of that. She was not thrilled by the idea at first, but , well... It's not as she could do much about it anyways.
And if she's eating a bit too much chocolate, who cares?
Tumblr media
Talked to much again, I fear.
Well, I'm afraid of where goes that mysterious set of stairs is going to have to wait a bit, it's time to cook dinner.
See you soon! (I hope)

WA Column Re-Categorized
In World Adventures, there are three types of column sculptures: broken, half-broken, and normal. However, I didn't like the fact that the normal column couldn't be used as an actual column. It was also the perfect height, so I just recategorized it as a column and now it works. You will then have the option to place tiles or a roof above it. This re-categorizer requires The Sims 3: World Adventures!

Congrats, It's a girl!
Tumblr media
Or in my case, a convent... Or Nunnery.
So, a fully female building except from the daily visit of a local priest. Religious services and all that, you know.
Usually before and after their more important duties at Cathédrale St Jerôme (apparently the patron saint of grumpiness, love it!)
Tumblr media
So, History time: What was the nature and use of a convent in 18th Century France? Well, quite a lot... And most of them had nothing to do with religion, go figure.
Now, don't get me wrong. People were FAR more religious in 17something France, up to 1789 (even if it was fading prior to that), than we ever were after, and let's not talk about today.
But then, what was the use of a convent?
In short, a placa to stash unwanted females, either temporally or permanently.
Tumblr media
In other words, when, as a child, you crossed that quite impressive gates, you had no way to know if it was for a few years, months.... Or a life sentence.
And it's not as if you had any say in the matter.
Now, Aristocrats usually kept the heir and the spare at home (after they survived the "nourrices", which is another horror I'll talk about later), the girls had far less chances to stay at home.
And in those rare cases, either the girl was the eldest and often entrusted with her younger (male) siblings, to save on paying a Nanny... Or sometimes for being exceptionnally pretty.
But for most of them it was out in the country Château, were the Elders put away there could teach them stuff.
Up till you reached 14... and entered the marriage market.
So, a couple of weeks for the parents to assess what they had, show the child around a bit and tell the world they were open to offers.
Tumblr media
In the meantime, it was VERY important for said child to STAY A VIRGIN!
That's why town convents like St Gudule existed: A way to stash the prize while both sets of parents engaged in delicate negociations that could take years, since it was a subtle balance of ranks, dowry amount, level of connections to Versailles and so forth and so on.
Love?
please don't be ridiculous.
So, you see that Iron forged door? It's the only direct access to the girls inner circuit, and almost always locked. You coult try for to go through the kitchen, but there's always someone there, especially on visit days.
Visits?
Tumblr media
Yes, once you start having value, family WILL visit, at least the female part to keep you up on what's going on... And TONS of gossip!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exceptionnaly affectionate family members could share a meal with you, a the captai... Err... Mother Superior's able.
But what you should never forget is Class.
Tumblr media
Here are the rooms of the 3 actual students. As in prison, parents are supposed to furnish those rooms, according to their status, of course.
In the smallest room, you have Marie Lanvin. Pretty enough, but mother was a tavern wench. Who's interesting is her father Jasques Lanvin second tiers famous Pirate turned corsair (same thing, but with papers and gouvernement cut).
Man discovered he was a dad recently, and to his credit, decided to give his girl some polish since she succeeded her mom as a tavern wench. No money to waste though, so Marie will serve the two others girls.
She doesn't mind,it's better than what she had; Private room and a bed, sign me up!
Marriage prospect are a bit uncertain, her father's best friend and first mate has a boy on a ship somewhere doing well for himself, but still in Piracy, soooo....
If he dosn't show up before she reaches 18 and is not considered marriage material, well, she's the most likely to stay within the Church somewhere.
At least her father has the means to pay for that.
Tumblr media
The third room is the opposite: Jeanne Antide de Lapparen, is not really pretty, and one thing her parents are NOT is rich, but one thing she has is titles up the wazoo, and since they're from the female line, the man who weds her won't be an aristocrat... but his children will!
So she may end up being her next door neighbour sister in law.
Not sure: Anne Bouguiron, is not only the daughter of a VERY wealthy merchant, but she is also VERY pretty.
This one doesn't have to worry about ending a spinster. The only question is: Is a title worth all that these days?
Her mother would LOVE to get back some of her previous status, by saying "My Daughther, the countess de Lapparen" one day, her father looks quite dubiously at his own union and is considering one of his associates that shows much promises both in science and business.
Mark his words, those Dupont will get far one day!
Tumblr media
Since it may be quite enough yabbering on my part for today, we will visit the rest on part two!
Whishing ya all a nice day, and see you soon.

SIMS 3 WORLD - LOST COVE 2025 - THE 30 LOTS
Lost Cove is rebuilding — slowly, but surely. Residential lots are starting to earn that name again. Less rubble, more walls. A bit more comfort, even ( well not really but well ... )
People are getting older; a couch is no longer a sign of weakness, and a painting on the wall isn’t just vanity. Art belongs in the Maslow pyramid, okay ? And Lost Cove’s people are finally aiming for more than just surviving the next zombies :D
Some homes still look like repurposed shelters. Others, though ? They’re trying. A second floor, a roof that doesn’t leak toomuch, a makeshift stove cobbled together from salvaged tech. There’s life in these places — messy, stubborn, real. Your Sim might move into a prefab shack with bullet holes still in the walls… or a crooked lakeside cabin, half-swallowed by ivy. One house has wind chimes made from old tin cans. Another has bathtub but no door. Nobody’s judging ...
It’s not quite suburbia or mansions yet. Some lots are isolated, off-grid hideouts with a single bed and a compost toilet. Others are communal — a few survivors sharing space and meals, not always by choice. You won’t find a picket fence, but you might find a garden bed dug into a parking lot. It’s not like there are construction workers or architects all over the place. A fresh coat of paint won’t fix everything. But Lost Cove isn’t a singles-only island anymore, either. You can think about having a family, or roommates, or just a life indoors — with more than just plants ( no offense to the PlantSims, again )
All kinds of residential lots are waiting for you in Lost Cove. Cracked, cozy, or chaotic — every home tells a story. Maybe your Sim will start theirs here ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lost Cove is a lonely place. Most of the time, your Sim will walk alone — through the ruins, across beaches swallowed by silence, past houses where no one lives anymore. But even in this broken world, there are places where people still gather, drawn by the same need to feel human again.
Those community lots aren’t crowded. They’re not lively. But they exist — half-shelters, half-sanctuaries — proof that the world hasn’t entirely forgotten what it means to connect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Bloody Way Bar is often the first stop. It’s not glamorous, but it has stories in its walls. Survivors come to share food, barter, vent, or simply exist near someone else for a while. Then there’s the Nature School, rebuilt with scraps and stubborn hope. Children learn there. Adults meet there. It’s not just about knowledge — it’s about building something, together. And the Dispensary ? It’s where you go when things go wrong — physically or otherwise. Sometimes, it’s quiet. Sometimes, you hear whispers of things buried deeper than wounds.
On Summer, when the sun is high and the day hot as hell, you may have a swim in the Ancient Bath, in the middle of a kinda weird "downtown" ...
Supernatural things are never far away all over Lost Cove ( such as a weird troll statue somewhere in the Main Island ) - Besides the Bloody Way, there is too the Elixir Hut with all sorts of herbs and remedies and the Gypsy Eyes ( nobody remember how they came here ) One day they weren't here, and one day, suddenly, they were there ;)
To get quick & dirty food, you have the Granny Ever Fast ( an old gas station long ago ) and the Wild Diner where lazy sims like to hangout around a kinda sandwich :D For another quality, better to go to the Tiny Freshy Market :D
Even if Lost Cove is a game about solitude and survival, it never fully locks you away. A chance meeting at the Oldy Flee Market, a shared moment at the Hangout Park, or a cold swim that brings you face-to-face with another castaway… These are the seeds of stories. Allies. Rivals. Lovers. Enemies. Every place, every ruin, every firepit is a possible starting point. It’s up to you to decide if your Sim keeps walking alone — or dares to build something new, in the cracks of the old world.
One more time, a HUGE thanks to the lots creators all over the web, especially MTS where to find so great houses ! Credits were credit are due : Aisquared – Anticaph – Flora2 – I May Regret This – MySimRealty – Norn – RubyRed2021
