Drew Tanaka + Silena Headcanons

I refuse to believe that she was just some superficial mean girl, so here’s some headcanons because i feel empty thinking about the pjo show :’)

- When Drew came to camp her dad literally just dropped her off, there was no scary monster attack, or deathly encounters. Her Dad just kinda didn’t want her, she was an inconvenience, more baggage for him to deal with that interfered with his career

- Her Dad had a modelling agency, when she was little the only way she felt like she was worth something was when she was at a shoot. This led to a heavy reliance on materialistic things because she was never used to mattering as an actual person

- When she got claimed by Aphrodite she was kind of resentful, Yes she was gorgeous, but she knew or well hoped to maybe be something more than that. The stereotypes associated with her mother didn’t help either, secretly she was hoping to be a child of Athena or maybe Hermes, if she could.

- Surprisingly, she and the stolls had a strong friendship, that literally no one understood. They were like older brothers too her and honestly they helped keep eachother grounded.

- Silena showed her that being a daughter of Aphrodite didn’t mean she was weak, or superficial, and all the other things that was associated with her name. Rather that they had the best social intelligence, understood people on a deeper level, and had the capacity to bring war and peace. She would tell Drew that in a way, children of Aphrodite could be more powerful than ever given credit for.

- When Silena died she was heartbroken, because she was her sister and she just left her, the girl who told it was all gonna be fine and she had a family now had left. She didn’t care that she betrayed the camp, she cared that she betrayed her. Silena was the first person Drew befriended in her cabin, and the first person who showed her she was more than the clothes she wore and makeup she applied.

- She remembered the times where Silena would braid her hair for her because she was never very good at it

- Or rant to her about how oblivious percy was being and how she thinks she’s in love with beckendorf.

- She knew about how Silena was supposed to break his heart, and when she thought about the right of passage it was honestly pretty stupid. And when she was sitting with Silena, and Beckendorf would come by and give her a kiss and then toss Drew her favourite chocolate, she’s pretty proud her sister said fuck the rules.

- She missed all the memories with her favourite older sister

After the Battle of Manhattan her, connor, and travis literally just cried. They both lost their older siblings, and honestly it was hard to talk about but atleast they had eachother to understand. Some point in the night katie gardner ended up joining and it just turned into a ranting session. And at the end they all felt a little better knowing atleast they had someone.

- But Drew still felt resentful and angry, angry that she left, angry that she never talked to her about any of it, and angry that Silena was never coming back

- So she put up a front, broke people’s hearts, and let everyone think of her as a flirty bitch with no feelings. Because if everyone leaves anyways might aswell not get attached.

- No one thinks twice about it, her siblings know she’s just hurt but after a while of Drew’s bullying and shit-talking of Silena they’ve given up. They’ve all lost a sister too, and everyone’s lost friends it doesn’t give her the right to act like this. And Honestly, she agrees but she just doesn’t care anymore.

- Travis, Connor, and Katie miss their friend. After that night Drew became distant, stopped talking to them and started sneering instead. They know she’s hurt and they’re more worried about her then angry. They just miss the girl who helped connor get the guys and girls, and would help Travis with pranks and someone he could talk about his feelings for katie. (because connors teasing was never helpful) Katie misses the girl who would keep them company in the strawberry fields and talk about how disgusting and dirty it was, but still smile and laugh as they ended up fighting in the mud and charmspeaking the Stolls too go jump in the lake.

- They know she’s still there, just coping with the trauma by disguising herself as the person she never wanted to be. Because as much as she seemed to hate everybody, she hated herself the most.

- Then piper comes back, and takes her title with her entire cabin cheering. And just like that the intricate facade she’d been building just cracks.

- The stolls and gardner find her, tear stained face, bloodshot eyes, and messier then she’d ever allowed herself to be the past 6 months.

- They hug her, and the damn just breaks. All the anger she’s been feeling, all the sadness she can’t put into words, and all the people she’s lost.

- Afterwards nothing much changes, she still acts like a superficial girl who’s only worries are boys and drama, often being mean. but every so often new campers will see her sword-fighting with connor, laughing with Travis, or at the lake with katie. And will wonder since when the hell have they ever talked. And older campers will have a little smile on their face thinking about the Aphrodite girl who they used to give piggybacks to, and would compliment them incessantly.

Because Drew Tanaka might’ve been a mean girl, and seemed like a terrible person to many. But to the few who remember the girl who hanged onto Silenas every word, and told Beckendorf to come out of the forges to help her make a glow in the dark dress, they hoped she wouldn’t let her pent up trauma and unhealthy coping mechanisms dictate her actions.

- The Battle of Manhattan, left everyone damaged and scarred, and everyone healing in their own way. Unfortunately for Tanaka, her healing just let her self-destructive tendencies shine, not only loosing her loved ones but herself in the process.

i like vanessa having a bigger role, and her dating TJ is a good twist

i like cooper and lucas’s relationship being developed more

i like that we’re focusing more on how mistreated and anxious addy was, and how much it still affects her

most upset:

kris’s entire character (where tf is my dedicated, german premed student who never pushes cooper? who is this man buying shrooms and getting mad cooper isn’t out to his dad? lmao not my kris)

maeve’s entire arc with the photo (are you fucking kidding me.)

cooper losing all of his golden retriever energy (why are we aggressive and why do we have a SEALED RECORD and where is his accent 😭😭)

luis & ashton being gone (literally vital parts of the story but okay?)
