CONFIDENT & KILLING IT LONDON - My heart is so full of gratitude. Just when the self doubt was about to creep in about whether Confident & Killing it went well or not I got a reminder that yesterday 70 young women paid to hear me speak for the first time ever. So I’m stopping everything to celebrate myself. When my mum pinned the words “unstoppable” to my vision board she had no idea what kind of fire would come forth. This is a story of human ambition. A story of a girl just like you with a vision that set her heart on fire. Thank you to everyone for being part of this dream. Thanks to @fisayolonge And @amaraworldwide for the incredible words of wisdom you shared. Thanks to @rosegoldgrp for this epic film. And @ivoryf.a for my stunning makeup! 💕💕 (at The Groucho Club)

One of my #nyc highlights- having coffee with the amazing @ukonwaojo Senior Vice President of @covergirl we spoke about so many different things but here are my key takeaways in her words... 1. Success isn't just about working hard. Do what you love first and hard work and success will follow naturally. . 2. As a successful women people will inevitably say things to you like "tone it down" , "you're too feisty" "you're too overpowering" BUT your strength is your super power. Never change who you are. . 3. Everyone needs a centre and an anchor. If your identity is based on what man says about you then you will sway. But if God is your centre you will be strong and flourish. . Finally when God has a plan for your life no one can interrupt that so be fearless in your pursuit of greatness! Would you like a video on how to thrive in the work place? #somuchwisdom #loveher #africangirlskillingit Love T 💕 (at Tribeca)

A year ago I posted my first instagram video encouraging people to believe positive things about themselves. Before I posted it I was plagued with self doubt..."would people really care?"... "you sound stupid Tiwa" .... "this is so cringe" despite all this noise in my head I posted it anyway! Now a year on 80 GIRLS!! 80 GIRLS!!! Showed up to hear me speak on confidence and self love. Looking back I'm proud of myself for taking a courageous step towards my dreams despite my dark thoughts. Thank you to all the beautiful girls that showed up. Your energy was incredible. Hi, I am really struggling with loving my physical body and I was wondering if you have any advice? In the past, I've suffered with an eating disorder so I am really trying hard not to go back down that route. Also, I am finding it really hard to just get by in Lagos as if you're not in a particular circle I feel that it is easy to feel like you don't make a diff and I have really diff ideals from those around me. Unfortunately in Lagos, I don't have a GROUP of friends so it can be hard. Advice?
Hey, thanks so much for sharing this with me. just from past experience the reason you are struggling to love your physical body is probably because you are comparing it to other people. Comparison is a dangerous game because you usually end up feeling less than or not enough. You compare the worst of yourself with the best of other people and its not even a fair comparison.
Think about what your own body does for you. You are alive today because of it. Your body keeps you breathing, it helps you move from a to b. it helps you achieve your goals and dreams. It does soooo much for you. So for that reason alone you should love it and appreciate it.
Also your purpose and life is bigger than what you weight at any given point in time. Do not let numbers on a scale rob you from living life to the fullest. Confidence comes from knowing who you are and what you have to offer the world. So that should take priority in your thoughts. If you feed your mind with thoughts of how everyone has a better body than you then you will never be happy with your body. Its all about your perspective. You need to make a continuous choice everyday to be grateful for your body. Your love for it wont come over night but if you looked in the mirror everyday and said I love you to yourself. The love will be real eventually. (btw this is not weird i do it to)
Concerning Lagos...again sounds like you are comparing your situation with what other people are doing. You making a difference has nothing to do with what friendship group you belong to. You have gifts and talents to offer the world. When you have solid vision for your life, pursuing that becomes much more exciting than being in the right social circle. As long as you have 2 or 3 people who get you and support you thats all you need. If you focus on bossin it and building the life you want people will see you excel and sooner or later you will attract people with a similar mindset as yourself. So be consistent with who you are and what you stand for. Don’t try and make yourself smaller to fit into a group. You were born to stand out and be different.
Hope that helped! Holding an event in lagos soon. Look out for info on my insta.
Love
Tiwalola x
