Eddy’s Arts: Howlite 

This is my not even close to being on being relatively on time gemsona! She’s my oc so this probably won’t be the last time I draw her. 

She has a back story!  

So her weapons are her stone claws, but she has a howl ability. It can calm with her voice, deafen, knockout, or,when pushed to the extreme, can cause gems to return to their gem form. She was used as someone to control gems and keep them calm. One day, she met Moonstone who, for ironic effect, became her only focus. Moonstone was a high class gem and when the Crystal Gems rebelled, Yellow Diamond ordered her to use her power over Howlite to their advantage.

I need advice...

So I wanted to create (a very late) gemsona and I thought of Howlite, my first choice in jewelry making stones. Then I thought, wow how cool would it be if I made a wulfenite and moonstone fusion to get howlite. It wouldn’t be hard to change the design from howlite to wulfenite but I have a past love for howlite… Any suggestions?

Eddy’s Arts: Ruby and Sapphire

I’m having a hard time breathing.

This definitely qualifies as a career highlight for me! The song was composed by Rebecca Sugar, and an initial demo arrangement was made by Jeff Liu, which Estelle sang over. Estelle is one of my favorite modern R&B singers, so this was a daunting and yet enticing proposition to arrange.

Taking Jeff’s arrangement as a guideline, we really wanted to emphasize the euphoria of Garnet being reformed. Rebecca told us to capture the feeling of “there’s no way she could lose”. I also felt that the new Garnet design warranted a new Garnet bass sound (for those of you keeping score: where Pearl is piano, Garnet is represented by synthbass), so this was a great opportunity to showcase it. I also felt like the bridge needed a synth solo, so I went all out on this one!

Aivi did a fantastic job adding to this arrangement by making the string sections magical (especially at the end when the song turns dramatic) which were then beautifully performed by Jeff Ball. Everybody did such a great job with this song, and I’m extremely proud of the final result.

Hiatus

I'm sure you've noticed my absence... I've been busy lately, with school work and the show I'm in. I'm probably not going to be able to get on much for the next week or two.. Maybe longer... I'm going to try to be on when I can, but when show week rolls around I'm gonna be out. Just a warning... Sorry...
