“Where words fail, weapons speak” - The Fields of Glory It’s been a hard day’s night but 24 hours after hitting 60 Ysa’s Makai/Lore geared and ready to roar.

Chère Renee,

I arrived home late this eve quite forgetting I now have my own chambers! ‘Tis passing strange, having been away for some time, even the most mundane aspects of my life feel sealed away, somehow forgotten. I must needs return to this space, this normalcy and reclaim it.

This too is my life; book lined walls, a cheery fire, my comfortable chair and pretty desk.The great goose down mattress and linen comforter, calling to my weary body, my sorely neglected knitting basket, this steaming cup of Ishgardian tea in its delicate porcelain cup and your letter, which awaited opening for far too long. My apologies.

Certainly you must visit! I rarely know if I am coming or going, still, my free company comrades are charming and would surely keep you entertained in the event I was called away. I appreciate your reminder to write to mama and papa and agree it has been too long. Tomorrow I shall be most stern and sit myself down with parchment and quill; this I promise sweet sister!

In the meantime, I trust this little note will find you well and happy. Pray do not cease sending your lovely letters, they are welcome rays of sunshine in my busy days.  You are often in my thoughts  and forever in my heart. Gros Bisous! Ysa

I fold the little note, careful to ensure the ink is dry and will not smudge. I pool a bit of hot wax across the fold, press my sigil down to seal it and then address this to my younger sister. The soft sigh that escapes my lips is drawn out, long suffering. This makes me sigh again. Of all the politics I am called upon to navigate, these with my family are most difficult of all.

 It has been too long since I wrote to my parents but never mind that. My mama would be in a justifiably proper state were she to to learn I’ve been in Ishgard for weeks and not once made it to the door. 

I can’t. 

I stand there, out front in the cold (this is a truthful metaphor) but I just can’t uncross my legs and step forward.

So I shall write a letter, not because I wish to write it, but because it is a lesser evil than visiting and small atonement for being the wayward daughter that I am.
