(half) sisters...

I don't know how often she'll make an appearance but I've given Prudence a half-sister. As you can tell, Prudence is thrilled about this. Torn between naming her Truly (so they can be Tru and Pru) or Temperance (because I like how their full names sound together). She's the younger sister but given her half-elezen blood she's notably taller than Prudence. It's unknown if T was conceived before Prudence's father's death or after, the timing is pretty close. Either way she's a bastard of a minor noble house and was quietly smuggled out of Ishgard shortly following her birth. So, they didn't grow up together but reconnected once Ishgard was opened and Prudence gained her employment.

T is loud and brash and a very typical Adventurer. Good-natured, a flirt, and a braggart. A red mage who works on an airship when she's not rushing headlong into adventure. And she would very much like it if her older sister liked her. Alas. "Gee, Pigeon! Another middie!?" ... yeah but she's *half* Elezen so it's different.

another cool thing about heavensward is that you can infer the relevance of every ishgardian/elezen to the Greater Narrative by how normal their name is. like:

ysayle: derived from "yseult" (=isolde from tristan and isolde), which. you know. the forbidden/doomed romance motif. according to wikipedia, the name is believed to come from old high german words meaning "ice" and "battle" so. you know. while it's not an actual name that exists in real life, it does read as something you could possibly find in an obscure medieval poem, and follows the "correct" phonetics pattern for french names (i don't really know how to word this...). "ysabel" could also be an inspiration (this was a common spelling, which is now archaic). the inspiration is not necessarily obvious (i had to think about it), though there are enough clues in the etymology that make me think it was 100% meant to be a twist on "yseult"

estinien: derived from "étienne", or rather its now archaic spelling "estienne". as you probably know, there were no spelling rules or standards in the middle ages, so the prospect of finding an "estien" or even "estinien" somewhere seems to me relatively possible, though i'd have to look it up more thoroughly. don't take my word for it. BUT! in any case, the etymology is obvious to... i was about to say "every french speaker" but i don't think i'm necessarily a good reference for what is Normal. that being said, "étienne" is a common enough name, so people are familiar with it. oh, and this name comes from the same root as "stéphane" or "steven/stephen" in english, which means "crowned [with laurels, signifying glory and victory]" which.... also fits estinien as a character

aymeric: now that's Literally just a random french name. like this is a normal name. there are several celebrities called aymeric. (fun fact that i just learned thanks to wikipedia: america (as a word) is a direct evolution of "aymeric" as "amerigo" was its spanish counterpart. the world is a beautiful tapestry and also insane.) wikipedia tells me the name (of germanic origin) is made up of the words for "domain or house" (haim-) and "rich, powerful" (rix). again, self-explanatory

probably the biggest (and most puzzling) exception to this rule is haurchefant. i have zero idea where this name came from, especially considering his brothers are straight-up called arthur and emmanuel (with the appropriate fantasy twist). illegitimate son condition, perhaps...........?

one of the things i love most about erenville is how utterly casual he is about the wol. he knows exactly who we are and what we're capable of and clearly has complete faith in us but with the overwhelming vibe that he just could not care less. anytime we get to do wol stuff he's just like "what do you want a medal" and goes on about his day. king

Hello! Hi!

So, here's the deal: for a lot of different reasons, I have been unsubbed from FFXIV since June last year. Which means that I haven't seen my WoL Aureia in a very, very long time, and I also haven't played around in gpose for an equally long time. And I miss it!

My birthday is at the end of the month 🥳, and I was thinking that it would be fun to do a gpose for art trade.

I am a very new artist, but I like drawing other people's OCs for practice and for fun. You can see some of my art here. I am going to offer colour busts, something along the lines of my galaxy hair series. ✨

I'm still developing a style, so don't expect it to be exactly like this, but it's the vein of what I can currently do.

Send me your WoL or FFXIV OC's gpose tag, and a couple good screenshots for refs. Something with neutral lighting is ideal, just so I can get their hair colour and skin tone right! If you have Hrothgar OC, I'm sorry but I probably won't be able to draw them since that's outside my skill level right now.

No Dawntrail spoilers, locations or gear please! I haven't played the expac yet and I'd like to stay surprised for when I do play it.

Aureia's usual vanilla hairstyles are Head Hound (Hilda's hair), the Bold and the Braid, and Great Lengths. I'm 100% open to modded hairstyles, too, if you have something that you think would suit her!

If you want to throw other mods on her, go for it! I have no idea what is current in the mod scene, and I'm very easy going about sticking her in different things.

We'll share what we've made during my birthday week, which is June 22 to June 28! 🎉
