Why are people confused as to why the Williams cars are struggling?? They’re being held together with duct tape, spit, prayers, and the last bit of James Vowles’ dignity. Like let’s not be shocked they’re shit let’s be grateful they’re fucking running
post-race Yuki Tsunoda was so calm in his interviews commenting on Magnussen ramming his car unnecessarily and getting thrown out of the race, it’s so sad that now he has to intentionally be overly calm and controlled even when he has every right to be mad because everyone calls him “the immature aggressive one”
I was just thinking about it because after the race Daniel Ricciardo was visibly offended and cussing about Lance crashing into him. Daniel of course had every right to be mad, but it’s just so sad that no one, Daniel included, affords Yuki the same grace to have emotional responses like a human being because of the projected Model Minority Myth they put on Yuki.
Anthony Davidson on commentary: “I’m particularly pleased for Nyck de Vries. Formula One chewed him up and spat him out. But he’s bounced back and I can tell you with conviction that he is -- make no mistake about it -- one of the best sportscar drivers the world has ever seen.”
what’s crazy is I genuinely think in a few years nyck de vries can wash away the f1 stint, it’ll just be a distant weird memory replaced with Toyota trophies
its so lovely that the organisers allowed zhou to have that moment on the grid, post race. they've really acknowledged how monumental it is that he's the first chinese driver in f1 and that its his first home race.
Seeing the way even the race directors and stewards have a plaque for Zhou so that he could put his car in parc ferme on the main straight and then seeing the fans cheering him on despite not scoring and then him falling on his knees crying. This is why we love sports and this sport, and this is for the little boy who was in grand stand 20 years ago and then left his home, his family and every single thing he knows to pursue his dream, and here he is achieving it
My thoughts exactly.
Honestly my favorite part of this whole weekend. You could see how much it meant to him, and what an incredible feeling it must be to look back at being a kid in the stands at the first Chinese GP 20 years ago, and driving in that same GP today.
