Y/n tapped her fingers on the table as she slipped her strawberry matcha latte closer. The café door swung open, revealing Eunchae, her hair messily tied up and her shoulders slumped from exhaustion.

“Hey, girl,” Eunchae said, collapsing onto the couch next to Y/n.

“How was the study session?” Y/n giggled, eyeing Eunchae’s tired expression.

“Ugh, it was insanely terrible! I ditched immediately,” Eunchae sighed. “Well, now you’re surrounded by fishes!” Y/n said, sounding enthusiastic.

Barely having time to take a sip of her iced matcha, Y/n heard the café door chime again. Eunchae froze mid-scroll, eyes narrowing toward the entrance.

“Don’t look,” she whispered, "Leehan is here...with someone.”

Y/n couldn't help but glance up, heart suddenly hammering in her chest. And there he was - Han Taesan. Hoodie half-zipped, headphones around his neck, hair fluffed just slightly like he’d run a hand through it before entering. Right behind him was Leehan, wearing his usual grin and looking way too excited for someone just trying to get coffee.

Taesan scanned the room like he didn’t want to be there.

Then he saw her.

And froze.

So did her.

Time seemed to slow.

His foot caught the edge of the rug near the fish tank display. He stumbled and then he fell. Hard.

The iced americano in his hand flew into the air, spilling over the floor in a splash. His phone slipped from his pocket, sliding across the tile and coming to rest right at your feet. Taesan's dignity shattered across the tile

y/n gasped. Eunchae gasped louder.

y/n stared.

He stared.

The fish in the tank stared.

Leehan let out a long whistle, not even surprised or worried, looking between his fallen friend and y/n like it was the best thing he’d ever seen.

Taesan scrambled up, cheeks flushed a deep red, hair tousled. His eyes locked on you again. And for a moment—just a brief, beautiful moment—y/n smiled. A shy, small smile meant to say, I saw that, it’s okay, don't die

“Pick it up,” Eunchae whispered, like this was a spy movie and not a slow-burning rom-com disaster.

So she did. Slowly. Carefully. Like it might explode.

Y/n held the phone out, face warm. “Um… here.”

He looked up at her. Really looked. Like he was stunned. His fingers brushed her when he took the phone, and she swore—swore—his ears turned red.

“…Thanks,” he muttered.

And then immediately turned to Leehan and hissed something like “why did you have to come today” while trying not to combust.
