admittedly my understanding of las vegas may be a bit distorted by only seeing it in movies and also when people complain about it online, but it seems that it's some kind of city-sized torture device where the spectre of advertising is ritualistically summoned into an orb in the middle of a very hot desert and then it attacks everyone living there all of the time while they gamble to keep their mind off it

broke: courier six has nothing but a dainty little scar after being shot in the head and surviving subsequent brain surgery.

woke: courier six is severely disfigured after being shot in the head and surviving brain surgery.

bespoke: doc mitchell is such a medical miracle worker that he was not only able to save courier six’s life, leaving them able to get up and walk around after being shot in the head/brain surgery with only minor complications, but he is a genius of cosmetic surgery never before seen and was able to fix the courier without any signs of a scar whatsoever.

arcade gannon truly is so real for aiming every joke he makes to an audience of exclusively himself. like nobody around him gets his references to history/art/literature but he doesn't care because he sees the perfect opportunity to make a reference and he never fails to do so. hes so real for that

obsidian had to make ulysses an antagonistic character becuase they knew he and the courier would be unstoppable as besties. Like they'd be the emo cowboy ryan and sharpay evans the mojave never asked for but gets anyway. those two traumatized, plot armored to the teeth mailmen would win the battle of hoover dam armed with flagpoles and the power of friendship as a drunken sidequest just to graffiti it and divert the power to small blossoming towns across the mojave.

After the battle, Ulysses would say some shit like "the bear and the bull could not be trusted with this old world relic, as they do not seek to learn from such relics, rather they wallow in them and use them as weapons against their neighbors and community. we must defend this relic from those who seek to use it only in that capacity," and then courier 6 would be like, "yeah, man. so true. wanna watch me do a sick backflip off the side of the dam i wont break my neck this time i promise,"

arcade isnt supposed to be twink hot he's supposed to be sardonic down to earth 400 level course professor who really cares about his niche course material and class of eight students despite not sleeping or feeling a positive emotion in years, tries to make sure everyone passes his class, and shows up to the 8pm lecture with two redbulls and intentions to shit talk the other four people on earth who work in his niche subfield hot

One understated worldbuilding detail I like is the very conscious decision not to give Boone or Cass middle names. The NCR just doesn’t have them!

Pre-war America, the Brotherhood, the Enclave, and the vaults all do. Fun detail, not that consequential.
