His name is Windy Boy. He’s a fairy. He answers children’s wishes but he’s really bad at it. And that’s the entire show.

Hi, I don't know if your still taking asks, but I wanted to know if you were planning on updating the dear mabel fic anytime soon? It's one of my favorite fics that complements your comic so well, and every day I keep rereading wondering what will happen next. It's ok if you don't feel like it, I just want an update on what's going to happen next would be fine.

Hi! My asks are still open, no worries. I will absolutely be updating the fic, most likely within the next few days. I’ve just been very busy lately with my jobs and life stuff plus managing time between multiple creative projects. The story is still going strong and I have multiple half chapters written for future updates! Same goes for the comic.

One of the most unprecedented things about this project is how many people have sent me commentary simping for adult Dipper. I'm sorry y'all?? I wasn't trying to make him cute?? I was literally trying to draw a dude who looks like if a scrawny young Ford was also a Seven Eleven employee. To knock him down another peg, he's been living on a boat with his gross old Grunkle for decades. Think of the smells. The hygiene... (or lack thereof).

Reading your 30 more years companion fic on ao3 made me remember Waddles and now I'm mentally SCREAMING because I don't know how long pigs live for but 30 years ain't it.

Also, another unrelated thought that won't leave me alone, is how much everyone lost.

Mabel lost her twin, lost the time with him and her favorite Grunkle, probably lost her pig, her parents, her rivals (Gideon and Pacifica), AND HER friends (Soo, Melody, Wendy, maybe Wendy's friends too, Gretchen, Gretchen's bf, and Candy). Her grandpa Shermie, whether he's younger or older than Stan, is also probably lost too (aka likely dead). Lost them all in the span of a week for her.

Stan went to PRISON and probably got the blame from the rest of the family about what happened to Mabel (whether they bought the portal story or not). He probably didn't get to see Dipper at all again until he was eighteen. His nephew/niece probably HATE him for pretending to be Ford and for what happened to their daughter, his other brother too. Who knows what the other inmates thought. He lost his business, his chance of adventuring with his twin, and lost Ford again.

Dipper lost both his uncles (one until he was 18 and Ford until now) and his twin. He lost his innocence. Probably lost some friends. And, considering the fact he probably doesn't blame Stan at all for what happened? He probably lost the rest of his family too depending on if they ever forgave Stan or not. He lost Waddles (his last connection to his sister in a way). He had to watch her friends and everyone else grow up in gravity falls grow up, not knowing what happened to her.

It just.. literally everyone has lost so much.

That's not even getting into Ford and Fiddleford or any of the others.

Just AHHH. I feel so bad for them all and wanna give them a hug.

Keep up the great work.

URGHGH yes everyone's lost so much. I like to think of this story as a post-nuclear-explosion story--after the Worst Thing That Could Have Happened happened... what happens? Answer is: much sad. But lots of healing! And also lots of nerdiness and hugs and laughing. We're not quite at that last bit yet, but we'll get there! Gravity Falls is, at its heart, supremely silly after all.

hey dude i showed my friend (whos never been really acquainted with the fanart/tumblr side of the fandom) your 30 more years au and he loved it sm!!!

but he also started reading dear mabel i miss you and i had to give him strict instructions not to click anything else because hes never been on ao3 before and therefore is currently unaware of The Horrors you can experience on there lol

anyway i love what you’ve created so dearly its consuming my every waking moment. take your time making it, art is draining sometimes and thats ok! drink some water and get enough rest, cant wait for the next update! <3

OH this is high praise, I love dragging non-brainworm friends into the quicksand! Please tell him to please Tread Carefully on ao3. My fic is pretty tame but there are definitely Others to watch out for haha. And thank you for your kind words! I've actually decided to slow down on the updates cause it was honestly getting a bit hard to keep up physically--but the story is definitely still coming strong! Thank you for reading. <3

IM IN LOVE WITH YOUR COMIC AND THE COMPANION FIC.. Hows the time spacing gonna work in DMIMU? I saw you say it would stop going week by week but I am just wondering

There's a bit of an exponential element to the time spacing, mainly because it's centered around Dipper's emotional processing. I'm pacing the narrative in a very specific way (hopefully its shape will become more clear as it progresses) but bottom line is a LOT happens when Mabel first disappears, so the plot has to slow for that. We're getting to what I call, Dipper's First Catalyst (he has many) and from there--you'll see.
