PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL

anon asked how to get the glittery effect lots of people used on edits, so I thought I’d make a tutorial! maybe like/reblog if you find this useful?

I use photoshop cs6 to make them :)

First, you want to paste your background image into photoshop. To make the banner above, I just found an aesthetic image from pinterest and pasted it into a blank 540 x 280px canvas. After repositioning and doing any editing, you have this. Remember to make sure you’re in essentials mode and the time line is visible.

Next you’re gonna add any text you want to the banner/image just like you would normally.

Now, that’s the main part done so we start with adding the stars. You’ll need to save the top gif from this post, or any other stars falling-type gifs with a black background. this is the one i use. Open this in photoshop and it should look something like this

Now you need to click the little three lines with the arrow in the corner, and click select all frames

then click the little arrow and select 0.1 seconds and then convert it to video timeline so you have this 

at the side, click layer 1 and then shift + click layer 29. right click and convert to smart object

Now, using the mouse you’re literally just going to drag that picture and place it over the banner. use the transform tool to set it to size so it covers it completely and make sure it is the top layer

right click that layer with the stars on and select blending options

change blend mode to screen and you’re done!

TIP: 

In the timeline, make sure all your layers are the same length as the stars layer.

When saving for web, these are my settings. make sure the looping options are set to forver and then save and upload it!

ALRIGHT I saw a tutorial on blood going around earlier and it was just sooo abbreviated that it made me kind of peeved so I set out to give what little blood knowledge to the test to make a slightly more robust tutorial. (Credentials drawing? 4 years of art school plus like 16 as a hobbyist. Credentials with blood? I liked watching Dexter once and I have a period.)

OTHER THINGS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:

Drawing from reference is your friend! If you can find life references to go from, fucking GO HAM. Study the shit out of that, the best way to mimic something is to watch it in action. This was put together very quickly but I made sure to do a couple google image searches while I was doing this to see if I was getting the right ideas. This still isn’t perfect. I’m not perfect, I can be wrong!��

ALSO: Do yourself a favor and look up stuff about Blood Pattern Analysis, I found This PDF while fact-checking and that gives a good overview of the basics, though you can probably find even more extensive information with a good google search. Forensic scientists use this all the time as a crime-solving tool and you bet your hiney there’s gonna be resources out there documenting the information. These make handy reference tools!

Menstrual blood was added for educational purposes, I don’t know if you’d necessarily be DRAWING it but if you have a period, it might be something you see regularly and might want to observe. In that case, I tried to document what’d make the composition different because it IS pretty different than blood coming from the rest of the body, if only because it’s usually seen with tissue or other fluid.

Please fullview these if you have trouble reading my handwriting i tried to do these at a high-resolution for that reason
