ok this post got me thinking - and this isn't really a criticism, bc the point it's making still stands - I don't think this description is quite accurate. if teens were allowed to figure out their heterosexuality they'd be getting het sex ed, not no sex ed.

in this context, 'heterosexuality' ISN'T a sexuality. it's a gender role. it's not about pleasure/desire/attraction, in fact, those things are considered deviant even within heterosexuality. a man moaning during sex or wanting his nipples played with is 'gay' even if it's with a cis woman. a woman expressing any SHRED of sexual availability is shameful even if it's for cis men.

sexuality is still dirty for cishet people. men and women aren't even supposed to like eachother! have you noticed that? that the more a person elevates heterosexuality, the more they tend to hate the opposite sex? how the most homophobic men also seem fundamentally grossed out by women? how the most homophobic women seem to view men as animals?

conservatives do not think women should be attracted to men or vice versa. they think that having a husband and bearing him children is what makes you a woman and having and impregnating a wife is what makes you a man, and THAT'S what teens are allowed to do. you will never be allowed to be sexual, but you are never too young to perform gender roles.

If you need some good news today- you should know that the sea turtle nesting data for 2023 is in and it’s really promising. In Florida, both greens and loggerheads have reached record high numbers of nests. We’re really hoping this is a success story in the making for both of these species.

Almost half of the world’s loggerheads nest in Florida, meaning the state has a huge responsibility to conserve the species.

Saw some dumbfucks calling heritageposts antisemitic for objectively sharing resources and the firsthand accounts of Palestinians in Gaza and I think that really shows how much Zionazis have coopted and weaponised that word. I’m never gonna feel comfortable calling out antisemitism again because I’ll just be automatically grouped in with these whining morons who are upset that their feelings aren’t being centred in discussions about a real time genocide. We truly live in such a backwards world.

Zionism hurts Jews in the diaspora every day and I’m sick of being told what my opinions on Israel should be by the people actively participating in my endangerment. Thanks to you cunts the word antisemitism has become meaningless and I’m even more afraid to stand up for myself when I experience it than I’ve been my entire life.

If you’re a liberal Zionist clinging desperately to the notion that opposing the Israeli occupation is antisemitic to justify your part in this hell just know that I, a Jew, and the Jews around me hate you for it and you aren’t getting any Jewish ally points for this. Base your stance off of your morals, not flimsy identity politics you fucking coward.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.

For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.

I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.
