Culture and Identity. Culture is the amalgamation of a certain set of traditions that are carried out regularly, for example going to the club with your friends on a night out would be considered “club culture”
Culture can also be boiled down to the an attempt to describe or define reality, and is in some way a construct of reality, it is the repeated set of values that reinforces a particular set of ideals.
Going off this culture is extremely complicated especially when living in a multi-cultural society where the intermixture of different sets of ideals and values makes the pinpointing of what culture is even more complex; but there are objectionable values that we as human beings share and uphold and with these values that are based in reality and with that in mind we can give a typical understanding of what culture is, take for example the show the “Always sunny in philadelphia” the show is there to entertain.
Digital culture
Digital culture has become integrated with our day to day lives, to understand the repercussion the technological aspects of digital media must be considered as well as analyzed with social, political and economic meaning within from where digital mediums have emerged.
There are huge implications when it comes to using technology not only do you accept the technology for what it is, you accept the social political impact of that said technology, cultural theorists would speculate that technology has a relation to how society is influence and vice versa.
People are marked by the pervasiveness of digital media, it is everywhere and this mass diffusion of technology has connected us all, so much so that mediatization is playing a more dominant role in all aspects of everyday life.
Digital Identity
The consuming wave of social media has now made us create a separate identity we see ourselves differently than we actually are, we’ve become superficial. platforms are designed in a way where interpersonal messages can go viral and because of that I believe people aren’t as truthful or as happy than they make out to be; it's all about what people think in this day and age of beauty being a commodity.
The circuit of culture
lets take for example the show “it's always sunny in philadelphia”. This show is a representation of a band of friends that get up to really funny and interesting adventures and in my cultural context the show is portrayed in a manner that's to entertain. We are shown episodically about different characters and how they are as people and this in turn conveys to the audience the meaning that they’re decoding actively, for example it is showing us the representation of friends and adventure in a social sense.
Being a show that has many different character traits our audience has a wide range of Identity that they can associate themselves with; when we engage in media we are constantly searching for meaning to relate with other wise why would we watch something we have no interest in? our culture is what shapes our Identity and in the show there's ‘bar’ culture as our merry band of friends are regularly at the bar. to choose a character we relate with we also simultaneously reject the others.
The production of meaning is usually created by what we value in life, and so in a way the show “always sunny” is being decoded by the audience, the audience is a active participant in consuming the media, they are creating meaning and drawing the significance of the show and how it relates with their own lives. this my be challenging to other peoples predominant beliefs as the decoded messege that people derive on screen can be completely differen’t to peoples actual beliefs and thoughts in the real word, another example would be pop cultures famous icon, lady gaga, her dresses have been extremely confrontational as it strides outside the conventional types of clothing which exist outside of cultural schemas, of her occupation, race and gender. Watching and consuming (consumption) the show ‘always sunny’ is an amalgamation of differen’t production aspect which reflects cultural and societal expectation, having a demographic that conforms to incorporated schema creates unproblematic consumption, there are some media texts that do not fit in the internalized schema and as a result it becomes shocking to audiences and shocking in terms of its format and narrative structure, for an example the episode “the gang turns black” had a mixture of good and bad reviews.
The regulation of the show is not contrained, it is streamed on various platforms including amazon prime and netfilx predominately. there are some vey mature themes in the show so the main channel that is airing the show is FXX. other platforms would not be likely to show this TV series, it could be because of location and other various factors for example: laws in certain states (texas) have direct implication on whether or not the medium is allowed to be shown. Conclusion
du Gay mentions that it is highly important when taking into account of the communication inside of a cultural context and that there are plenty of differen’t variables that influence the production of media texts, and these can either confront or challenge a cultural set of rules, reinforce a cultural position or even support the text.

Introductions!
Tumblr media
My names sami, I’m 22 and I live in a first world country, THANK GOD phew so with that out of the way allow me to bring you in to who I am and what I’m about. Currently I am a film and TV student starting this year, to be honest I thought University life was going to be more comunial but the University I attend is in london and people here choose to be anti social rather than socialising, so off they go to their part time work or whatever they go..
Tumblr media
In terms of hobbies and interests I am very interested fitness and lifestyle so I try as best as I possibly can to get my ass in the gym and work out, now I’m not sure if this is a hobby or not but I have a general consensus that socialisation make a person sopisticated as because of that I really like to meet new people and get out as much as possible. As for the places I’ve visited in the UK.. they all consist of being in london, this blog post really made me think about how I haven’t traveled enough to explore all the differen’t places in the UK, stonehenge is one, maybe even scotland, I heard the sasuages are pretty good there.
Tumblr media
I’ve been using social media apps for a very long time as any of us have, so as far as my skills in digital media I’d say its pretty proficient for someone who isn’t into marketing, I can use a flurry of differen’t editing softwares that help me create and build what I need to make.
