i love it when a story has siblings and they have so much beef the whole time and its everyones problem

comedies that turn into tragedies when the fucked up stuff played for jokes suddenly gets treated with the severity and realness that it would get in real life are genuinely my weakness and hit so much harder than tragedies that start off with the sad stuff.

i’m convinced the reason wataru still feels the need to act like he dislikes rio even though it’s clear that he doesn’t at this point is that he still sees him as a projection of all his feelings of inferiority. not just in that rio is naturally Good at things and he isn’t, but also that he can afford to see the things he does as “no big deal” while wataru had to fight tooth & nail to get to where he is now, and at least around the time of aaside he was convinced that his music still hadn’t been enough to make his brother look at him. so he was upset about rio joining the band and potentially not working as hard because he doesn’t really have to, but i wonder how things will change now that rio has demonstrated how much work he actually is willing to put into the band
