I haven’t seen the HTTYD remake yet but it’s hilarious to me how John Powell wasn’t allowed to use the same track names so he just decided to be a troll.

You know that meme where one character makes a heart and the other does a thumbs up? What if they both did a heart, but one was VERY annoyed by it.
'I can't believe I like them back' 'You don't have to?' 'No, I do'

Fate is being artistic. Each father got what he deserved!
The father who abandoned his son without a second thought had his son returned to him, half-feral and with a heart for dragons. That love for dragons, fueled by Grimbeard's own choices and his awful treatment of them was what caused his son's death. And his own undoing.
The father who defied the rules of the archipelago because he loved his son more than he disliked runts has to banish his son at his initiation. Yet the son was loved, clumsily and not always in the right way, but he was loved. So when that son was revealed to have the same heart for dragons, both survived to live and love for the rest of their lives.
The father that chose violence met a violent end, the father that chose his son received a kind ending.
Thinking about how Stoick decided not to banish his son as a baby, which comes back later when Hiccup is banished to his supposed death.
Grimbeard decided to banish his son as a baby, which also comes back later after he discovers his Hiccup lives despite it.
Two father making different decisions at their son’s birth, inadvertently creating the inverse reaction.
Weird parallel ?

something about dragonese being considered a "nerd" thing and being banned outright and how it starts (as so many things do in the httyd books) as a childish joke that doesn't really mean much and develops as you read into yet another horrifying way in which vikings have enslaved dragons, taking away all respect and wonder and fear from them to make them into caricatures, poorly kept pets instead of the intelligent, sentient creatures that they are
#This is like. top tier social commentary worthy of a 4lk essay but I am too tired to write it#somethingsomething disrespect and devaluation#somethingsometng those you cannot understand are easier to mistreat because their pained words are unable to affect you

"I can excuse murder, burglary and profanity, but I draw the line at arrogance"
The fact that Hiccup thinks Camicazi’s biggest flaw is being a bit too pleased with herself. never mind the k*lling, stealing, occasional annoying behavior, and slightly questionable morals.

Wizards of Once bookmarks
I loved coming up with silly details like the borders matching the characters, slapping arrows on all the warriors and Xar's failure to do his laces properly. The armour is also functional and designed based on how rich/important each character is
Ideally, the borders would be in gold and bronze foil like the fancy bookmarks people make custom, but I don't know how to do that.
My first real drawing of 2025. (The sketches are 10cm high and from 10 may)

Collies need to commit Crimes for enrichment purposes so its important to create opportunities for them to engage in permissible Crimes.
For example, if they like stealing things off the counter, make sure to leave something they're allowed to steal within reach while keeping the things they aren't allowed to steal as far away as possible.
It is very important you do not "catch" them in the act because you must be consistent in reinforcing that Crime is inappropriate behaviour or your collie will see it as permission to continue committing actual Crimes.
But, asking them "Where did you get that!" in a mock stern voice, then sighing and calling them a brat (or similar) can make the experience even more enjoyable for them as they will feel like they've gotten away with something.
Of course you don't want to encourage certain types of Crime when you aren't looking so make sure these permissible Crime opportunities aren't too similar. If you don't want the dog to countersurf you can put something on a tall chair instead for instance. They still get a similar experience but if you're consistent with enforcing no counter and you make sure not to leave things they're not allowed to steal on the chair they can still learn countersurfing is a Capital Crime and not one to engage in for fun and shenanigans.
#have had 3 collies. This is accurate#The third one is currently undergoing dog puberty and I want to bite her back sometimes

This is why I was initially 50/50 on whether I adored him or whether he annoyed me.
On one hand, he is a carbon copy of every popular/rich/important kid whose ego is inflated like a balloon. When he speaks he listens. When he says left, others follow.
And yet... He never uses that status to belittle others, only to raise himself up to whatever high standards he (encanzo cough cough) wants.
I feel like pre-character development Xar sorta has the personality of a stereotypical cartoon high school bully but like, if it never even crossed their minds to bully people that are weaker than them.
He's got that sort of charisma and "I'm better than you, everybody loves me" sort of attitude (because he wants so, so badly for his father to see him as strong and worth being proud of) but he adds onto this statement with "So if you choose to follow me then I will protect you with my life" and that's part of the reason why I love him so much.
#Books 2 and 3 hit this boy with the character development I wanted#dare I say it. book 11 snotlout could never#mans did a 180 degree turn ONCE and is forgiven?#Xar had a slow character arc and actually had to make multiple failed efforts to be better before it stuck#Also Xar is still not universally loved at the end

Once again thinking about how Xar desperately wants to be the boy of Destiny while Hiccup desperately wants to not be the boy of destiny
#Lmao there are memes to be made about this#i think I once drew an injured hiccup from book 11 telling Xar that stuff is getting worse because Xar was only on book 2

Yeah! I briefly suspected spoon for the same reasons.
Who would have the most reason to write about the hardship of these children and their struggles with their respective education systems? Who would write a whole 4 book series to tell the tale about how children are helpless and judged when they cannot measure up to arbitrary standards? Someone who was helpless and unable to measure up too!
Spoilers for the Wizards of Once series if you haven't read it and want to, but I really thought the narrator would be Squeezjoos.
Because look, the story directly said the narrator was a character in the first book. I thought Wish and Xar and Bodkin were too obvious. I assumed Cressida Cowell liked a good twist so I barely considered them. Caliburn is also too obvious. Other than that you have the sprites, snowcats, Crusher, etc. None of them had enough presence in the story, or personality, to emotionally impact me as the read if they were the narrator.
Except Squeezjoos.
Squeezjoos wasn't there for everything that happened but I could imagine him learning about things after the fact and writing down the story we read. He was also young, and we don't know the age limit of sprites, so it's possible that he would live long enough to be able to say the phrase "A British Isles so old it did not know it was the British Isles yet"
Also, with the narrative asking questions about the moral of the story, it makes sense for Squeezjoos to ask that question. He goes through so much, so much pain in these books, and so it makes sense that he didn't ask why at the time, and he's thinking about it now, as he writes.
It just, it would have made so much sense for that little hairy fairy to be the narrator, and it would have fulfilled the twist of who is the narrator, because I remember at the time everyone thought it would be Caliburn or Bodkin. Just, ugh. I'm gonna pretend the last chapter and epilogue didn't happen and Squeezjoos is the narrator and he makes an eloquent point about progress, and what is progress and what makes a better world. And maybe how he doesn't know what the moral of the story is, but he knows there is one, and he thinks this story should not be forgotten. So he writes it down, and hopes someone someday finds it.

#Xar would watch with tears in his eyes and pride in his heart
So true. they should have gotten to commit a crime together. As bonding activity.
I would also like to see Bodkin commit arson

I do have to say, the actual flying on dragons coming much, MUCH later after learning how to properly ride one is probably the most reasonable rule the Hairy Hooligans have.

The tired Bodkin with Wish and Xar on leashes is SENDING ME
He deserves so much financial compensation for putting up with those two
I also fear whatever Cami and Xar are planning together. Can’t be good

The doodles I drew l while listening to the first book
I don't know if my interpretation of no-helmet Bodkin is correct I just drew what was in my heart
