ok so im the same guy that mentioned the soren and lukas parallels so im gonna copy-paste my ramble from discord

first off using my headcanons for the characters im mentioning:

lukas [he/they/she]

soren [he/she]

anyway:

first off: his parallel with soren. lukas is a complete and utter coward at first, similar to soren. she usually freezes in place instead of running away, but especially when you confront lukas about his friend nearly setting reuben on fire, he deflects the blame and says that reuben seems just fine. sure, when you bring lukas with you one the wither storm is unleashed they're a little too eager to step up and lead, which COULD be seen as an act of bravery, but i see it more as lukas behaving in a way that's familiar to them. she could be a bit frustrated when anyone else is trying to lead, and literally tries to tell you and axel, the people that her friend group has been bullying for probably a WHILE now, that you axel is going way outta line when literally confronting him rightfully for this behavior. sure, the argument got a bit too heated and lukas nearly left, but lukas was really the one out of line when trying to lead a group that didnt want, nor need his lead. lukas isnt just a parallel to soren because of his building skills: its because of her, at first, cowardly nature, and their unwillingness to take the blame for anything that he's caused or at least been apart of. where this gets even more interesting is lukas' character arc, where he begins to actually get braver. she offers to genuinely help out more, instead of having this utter desperation to be apart of something familiar, like a friend group. when everyone gets into the end, they offer to lead the group to safety instead of petra, seeing as they're very sickly. while yes, he seems a Little bit desperate to do so, this more seems to be for petra's safety rather than a personal gain, like getting jesse's trust. when the wither storm dies the first time, lukas is actively wanting to go out and find her friends, and literally RETURNS with them if jesse lets her leave, helping save jesse and gang in the process. lukas' story arc is about a coward turning to bravery and selflessness, which is a direct opposite to how soren's story plays out. and i just think that's neat.

i think she's just neat. ok. the fact that she starts out as an enemy of jesse's gang and slowly becomes part of the group. while soren starts out as part of the order but distances herself and just becomes unrespectable by the others [except ivor] after running away in fear from the second wither storm fight. soren actively makes himself the victim of the situation after spending so long in isolation, a situation that HE caused, mind you. lukas, similarly, sees that he has no fault in anything at first. he's an incredibly awkward insecure loser once you get to know him, but that part is so incredibly surprising because you're immediately trained to think that lukas is an arrogant piece of shit with no interest in actually being friendly towards you. soren is ALSO an incredibly awkward insecure loser off the get-go, though can also be arrogant and comes off as a bit of a know-it-all, again refusing to take blame for anything that happens, ESPECIALLY when the formidi-bomb fails. granted soren has probably had several years alone to reflect on something like this, and especially considering he's been ALONE and soren's general personality, that could absolutely form some sort of bias towards herself. lukas was just surrounded by shitty people in a shitty situation, and once taken out of that environment, becomes a much kinder, albeit awkward person after a while. anyway all im saying is that soren and lukas have a lot in common more than just being the builders of their group because that is an INCREDIBLY shallow interpretation of their parallels with each other. i wish soren and lukas interacted with one another so we could see how they reflected on the other's attitude and behavior but its whateverrrrrrr i can imagine sick and twisted scenarios in my mind ok. lukas would see a lot of herself in soren and i think that would unnerve him just a bit, maybe cause a bit more self-reflection. maybe getting to know soren is what helps lukas dig deeper into themself and go "oh im kind of an asshole. this guy is kind of an asshole. i dont wanna be like this guy, i dont wanna hurt the people i care about" and etc etc. im just a little bit crazy. but also maybe its for the best this never happened because people would interpret them as a father-son relationship :////////////////

regardless im getting mad about fictional things. thank god im cool because i can do what i want and nobody can stop me! anyways soren couldve been a very useful plot device for lukas' own self-reflection especially after lukas leads everyone to safety and that only FURTHERS lukas' realization and change in attitude and switch from selfish to selfless. i keep repeating myself but i do genuinely think this is so underthought about. i havent talked about lukas in a bit forgive me but i have been cooking up sick and twisted thoughts in the back of my brain for a while. this hit me out of nowhere its a VERY half-baked analysis but i wanted to share this with you all because i feel like you guys would actually understand

tldr: lukas ends up surrounded by people she loves and cares for, and they love and care for him as well because he learned from their mistakes and made amends. soren ends up alone because of his own faults and refuses to reflect on herself, which lukas was dangerously close to being exactly like

this is based on the MCSM-tober prompt list:D picked ellegaard as my fav. old member because i cried as a kid when she died and i couldn't pick between lukas and petra so i drew both. ^O^ i was also gonna do the trick or treat prompt and how the two are dragging ellegaard with them, but i genuinely forgot i was even drawing that......X_X now the idea is that petra and lukas had gone to some event at a museum..
