Open Starter - A Business Proposition

Above the din of the choruses and chatter courtesy of The Last Drop's Patronage, The Eye of Zaun sat at his desk, his eyes closed as he took a slow drag of his cigar, paused for a moment, then leaned back to exhale, a long grey stream of smoke billowing from his lips as he looked back to the door.

They were late. He sighed and shook his head, looking to the smouldering ash at the end of the cigar in his hand as he tapped it into the crooked and oddly painted ash tray Jinx had so thoughtfully made for him. His eyes focused on the flickers of embers amid the ash that slowly died away while he contemplated how he might reconsider their offer, his train of thought was broken as he heard the door open and saw the looming shape of Sevika in the doorway. She stepped aside as someone walked in "You're late." Silco stated dryly, matter-of-factly, he wasn't in the mood to entertain small talk, especially when he had already wasted enough time for this meeting, though in his voice was a hint of dangerous irritation, the kind that warned of sharp pain and a shallow grave should the wrong words be chosen. "Perhaps you ought to give me a reason not to reconsider this bargain you offered..."

He smiles, his lips curving into a thin but calm and commanding smirk, like a cat that just caught the canary. He reached out his hand and gently held your chin, tilting your head up to look into his eyes.

Is it flattery or an insult for you? I can imagine it being weird.

"While I respect the right of individuals to do as they will with art or photos...I do find the concept of people trying to "Fix my appearance" insulting. Whether they think my scar is ugly or striking is up to them but it is mine, to erase it is to erase part of my past."

He couldn't fight it, the weight of the water holding him down, hands at his throat, the stab of pain where the vision in his eye had once been growing duller and duller as his heartbeat pounded in his skull, his lungs screaming for air

Silco awoke with a start, letting out a frantic cry as he snatched the knife at his bedside table up and slashed wildly at empty air, he paused for a moment, panting as consciousness returned to him, he was still in his study, he'd fallen asleep at his desk again. Papers were scattered everywhere, he cursed softly as his heartbeat slowed though his hands still shook with the rush of adrenaline. Calmly putting the knife back where it had been moments ago, Silco reached to his desk and fished a cigar out of the upper draw, the panic subsiding as he closed his eyes, lit it, and took a puff, panic turned to calm as he focused on the memory of drifting, floating in the water.
