What would they do if their child came home with a stray animal, wanting to keep it?

It would depend entirely on the pets usefulness. If this is a scrappy little lap poro, he's likely to refuse. However, if it is a potentially vicious cat or dog, ready to be trained for protection/alarming, he'd be more likely to accept it.

There is the chance, however slim, that something might be lovable enough to touch even his guarded heart, and he'd give in regardless of its usefulness, especially if it reminds him of himself. A scarred or missing eye, perhaps.

Silco, upon witnessing the small inferno within his kitchen, would most likely instruct his teen on the proper ways to put it out, observing them as they do it. Wayyy too casual and calm about it, too. Turn what you can into teaching moments, and you'll have a smart and prepared child.

Then, after getting the emergency taken care of, he'd probably take over dinner and show them the proper way to use heat to cook a meal.

There is a forced pleasantness from him as he masks his true feelings in regard to the chem baroness. "Corina. How nice to see you again. Are you merely playing at being Renata's messenger, or do you have actual business with me?" Each and every baron as some sort of angle against the other. It's only a matter of time before it's revealed to him.
