i think president lincoln should be viewed as a villain because
The Civil War in the United States was  painful and traumatizing between the union and the confederacy they Were figtng due to slavery and it was gruesome alot of people died during the war most being black newly freed slaves. The Emancipation Proclamation was when abraham lincoln freed the slaves in the southern states so they can stop rebelling and he freed the slaves so he had more power in the war.President Lincoln should not be viewed as a hero for emancipating enslaved people because even though he had freed the slaves he didnt let them live the free life they wanted, abraham lincoln wanted them to help him fight in his own war so he  used them for his own benefits
President Lincoln should not be viewed as a hero for emancipating enslaved people because According to pbs.org “Lincoln continued to insist that this was a war to [preserve] the Union, not to free slaves. But by 1862, Lincoln was considering emancipation as a necessary [military] step toward winning the war. The South was using enslaved people to aid the war effort.” This explains how it was never president lincolns intentions to free the slaves but when he realized that his own soldiers weren’t doing to good he wrote the emancipation proclamation to free them and make them help him fight his war. Just because he freed them he thought they owed him back for freeing them. At this time in history many black Americans were feeling angry because president lincoln freed them thinking they will be free but president didnt want that he needed help in the war so he used the many slaves he had just freed. This is important because it shows how two faced president Lincoln was because he only freed them to use them to fight in his war.
In conclusion President Lincoln should be viewed as a villain because during the civil war Abraham Lincoln stated it was never his intentions to free the slaves. But once he relized he needed soldiers and assets for war he wrote the emancipation proclamation  he freed the slaves. However, once he freed them he used them like puppets. They thought they were freed and President Lincoln needed them to fight in his war.  At first Abraham Lincoln specifically freed the slaves mainly in the rebel states because he wanted them to surrender On July 22, 1862, Lincoln showed a draft of the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation. . . It proposed to emancipate the slaves in all rebel areas on January 1, 1863. Abraham Lincoln is a villain because he used his power as president to take control of the rebel states by freeing the slaves to use them in his war.  In conclusion president Lincoln should be viewed as a villain because based on all the evidence he freed the slaves to make him look like a hero but then he used them to fight for his own war.
