( lana ):
Lana did her best to pay attention to what Zelda was saying and not how much she wanted to hold her small hand or kiss those full lips. No this was serious she needed to focus. Though hearing that Zelda worried about her sent a warm feeling through her.
She was able to focus on what she was saying again when Zelda spoke of her dreams. Those did sound troubling, but it was still unclear if those dreams meant something or if they were just old fears the princess was reliving from her time locked in enchanted sleep. Either way Lana wanted desperately to ease Zelda from such nightmares.
She slowly took one of Zelda’s hands in hers and looked into her eyes. She wanted to make sure Zelda understood what she was going to say. Ignoring the burning in her cheeks for now she gave her a warm reassuring smile.
“Zelda, you know you could never be a burden for me. I only wanted to make sure you weren’t putting more stress on yourself then you already had. However, if this is really something you want to do, then I would love nothing more than to have your help in keeping Videoland safe.”
The princess is silent for a moment, worry that she had over-spoken plaguing her thoughts. After all, Lana is important to her. She’s a dear friend, and an invaluable part of the world they lived in. The last thing Zelda wants is to be in the way, or the cause of a failure!
The princess continues to fret internally until the other girl takes her hand and speaks, then all thought is shaken from her head and Lana’s voice is the only thing that registers, save for the warmth of her hand and reassurance of that smile.
“I... Thank you, Lana.” Zelda smiles once more herself, lifting her free hand to place it around the brunette’s. “This means a lot to me. Your concern, and your acceptance. I am sure that whatever is to come, we will be able to handle it... Together.”
A light pink has dusted Zelda’s cheeks as well, and she lets out a soft chuckle. It’s nice, holding hands like this... Already she feels more at ease.

( lana ):
“You want to help me protect Videoland?”
That took Lana by surprise, not expecting anything like that at all from the princess.
“Are you sure about this? Don’t get me wrong I’d love to have you help me and I’m sure you’d do great but don’t you have a colony to run? I mean if you really want to do this and you can find a way to do it then of course you can help me. It would be nice to spend more time with you.”
The idea of Zelda helping her really did sound great. True she had the N team but it was mostly just her. Having another person to keep Videoland safe would take a lot of the stress off. Also spending more time with Zelda would be nice.
“Of course I do! It is not just where my home lies, but several other worlds’ worth! All life is precious, and even if I myself cannot directly be there, I wish to do whatever I can to assist you or even simply repay you. It has worried me for quite some time that you go it alone so often...”
Zelda frowns, lightly placing a dainty hand against soft, pink lips. She’s unsure whether she ought to speak about this, or whether Lana might think ill of her for what could essentially be a load of nonsense.
“That, and... I have been having troubling dreams as of late. They depict Videoland in chaos once more, not unlike when Mother Brain launched her attack... And I believe the Triforce will be in danger should nothing be done.” Her tone grows serious where it was once nervous, blue eyes filled with fire and determination. “I wish to grow stronger so that should these events come to pass, I can protect my people-- All people, of this world and all the others.”
The princess flushes slightly, hoping her speech wasn’t too much. “So... If it is alright... I would like to ask for your help in this endeavour. I believe accompanying you when I am free would teach me much... And as you said, it would be lovely to spend more time together. I do not wish to trouble you, however, so if I would be a burden I understand.”
She also planned to ask Samus and Simon to help, and they would likely be more effective teachers -- after all, they trained both Lana and Kevin! But the thought of Lana’s tutelage was too inviting to pass up entirely...

( dark pit ):
That voice is vaguely familiar, but only in the sense that she was someone Pit knew once, but not necessarily very well. Turning to look at her, Dark Pit’s first thought is ‘Wow, she’s pretty’.
His second is ‘when did I start thinking like Pit?’
She really is very pretty, though, and Dark Pit’s wings rustle behind him as he shrugs and shakes his head.  “Nah. Not lost. Exploring.” Which is entirely true; he spends most of his time (when not running errands for a moody nature goddess or bugging his brother) exploring what he can, wherever he can.
Ending up here was an eventuality rather than a coincidence. “Why? You don’t like visitors or something?”
“I-- I see. My apologies. I only wished to be of assistance, sir.”
The princess looks uncertain, as though she’s afraid she offended the dark angel by approaching him. She slows to a stop, skirts rustling, and clasps her hands. What a cute little boy... To have upset him somehow would be terrible!
...Which, unfortunately, seems more and more like the situation. Zelda’s frown grows and she shakes her head quickly.
“I-- No, that is not the case...! I am happy to meet travelers, be it from this world or beyond... I did not mean any offense. Ah... May we start over?”

( kevin ):
“D-don’t worry, you didn’t wake me… uh, sorry if I’m disturbing you, your Highness.” Kevin scratched the back of his head; he was addressing her correctly, right…? He remembered that being how Simon addressed her; and that was a good example to follow… Unlike the rest of the N-team, he lived in an era that was heavy on the importance of royalty.
As such, for as kind as the princess was, Kevin did feel uncertain talking to her; he felt like he was somehow being too casual, even though this was as formal as he knew how to be. …At least, in a situation like this. “I-I’ll be okay. I mean, I’ve managed to survive a mission on little rest before…” Barely. “And I can’t really sleep, anyway. What about you? Are you alright…?”
He wondered if she was adjusting okay… He hadn’t questioned it before, when he’d gotten to the end of Adventure of Link and the curtain closed on her and the hero, but… she’d just been woken up from a cursed sleep, long after her story had become just a legend. Had she been conscious that whole time? Or was it really like just sleeping- and waking up to find yourself in a totally different world?
He… could relate…
And he could also relate to any feelings of incapability she felt, as well. He was the weakest link on the chain that was the N-team, surviving mostly by relying on the weapons he only got with their help. Both of the other humans from his world- Lana and Miki- were better trained and much stronger, and the latter was even smarter than he was. So not helping his insomnia was the fact that he felt like he was weighing them down, although not getting the rest he needed was counterproductive in that regard.
“…You don’t mind if I join you, do you?”
The teenager’s awkwardness earns him a new smile from the princess. It’s... Kind of cute, actually, watching him-- It’s evident the boy is very unused to being in royalty’s presence. Poor thing... Perhaps she ought to make things a little easier for him.
“You may call me Zelda-- Without my title, if you wish,” She replies, giggling softly, “For it is just the two of us at the moment, and I should like for you to feel as comfortable as possible during your stay here. If I understand correctly, you do not live close to those who govern your home, do you? I apologize if my station puts you at any unrest.”
That being said... Comfortable would be in bed and asleep. To hear that Kevin couldn’t sleep is worrying, and she really ought to be sending him off-- He’d listen, too. Tomorrow would be an important day, and Lord Belmont and Miss Aran would likely not be too happy if he was any less than at the top of his game.
“I should hope so. Lord Belmont and Miss Aran seemed very intent on getting you and the others to sleep. They would make for effective parents someday, to be sure! I hate to think of any child being unruly under their watch...” Zelda laughs once more, though grows solemn at Kevin’s next questions. “I... I... Am alright. Sleep escapes me as well, but please do not worry yourself over it. This... Is a touch more common that I care to admit, unfortunately...”
The princess’ eyes shift downwards and away, a subtle sign of her distress. Out of everyone, he would be the one who would understand what weighed on her mind, but she feels like she ought not to speak. To trouble others with her own issues when they had a war to fight would be unfair...
Company, at least, would be a form of comfort. Zelda nods at the request. Something seemed to be weighing on Kevin himself. He may not be willing to speak of it, but the brunette hopes her presence may be as much of a boon to him as his was to her.
“Of course! I would love the company... I thought I might try and tire myself out by reading. You are welcome to join me, should the idea please you-- That being said, you must try and get some sleep at some point. I do not wish for you to get into trouble with your elders.”

( lana ):
Lana halted when she heard a familiar voice and turned around.
“Oh uh… hi Princess Zelda. No I don’t have anything urgent right now. What did you want to see me about?”
She absently played with a stray lock of hair as she waited for the answer. Something about Zelda wanting to talk to her felt really nice for some reason.
Oh, good! The princess’ smile grows, and she clasps her hands. She’d been worried she might be keeping Lana from work by stopping to chat. Given the brunette’s line of work includes helping out in the various realms when disaster struck the last thing Zelda wants is for people to suffer from her selfishness!
“Perfect! I am glad to hear it. As for what I was hoping to discuss...” The princess trails off, unsure of how to word what was on her mind. “If my memory is not failing me, you are the guardian of this land. I was hoping you might tell me a bit more about it; I have been thinking lately, and it has come to my attention that you work alone much of the time. If possible, I should like to assist you... But without an idea of what being such a guardian entails, I am unable to effectively come up with a way to do that.”
...That and the princess really would like to spend time with Lana, honestly. It had been so long, and... Goodness, she’d gotten much prettier since the last time they’d crossed paths! Zelda’s unsure why she’d made a note of this, but shrugs it off. It’s true, and there’s nothing wrong with thinking your friend is pretty.

( kevin ):
Kevin had known that there were two Zeldas in Hyrule, but not that the descended one- the Queen- had managed to befriend some of the monsters of Ganon’s army.
It made sense, though. There were a bunch of Moblins in the first game that gave Link money, all alone in a cave and apparently not willing to fight. He supposed they were most likely traitors in hiding, and now taken in by the recovering kingdom… That didn’t make the eyeless gazes of the Darknuts (or were they actually just empty suits of armour? He couldn’t tell) any less creepy, or make the potential resurrection of Ganon any less of a terrifying notion. Let it be put this way: things were way scarier in person than in 8-bit on his TV screen, and he was sure Ganon would be the same way judging by the shiver he got whenever he got a game over in Adventure of Link.
Anxiety about the mission tomorrow was making it hard to fall asleep, but he’d managed to fool both Simon and Samus for now. He wondered if they were asleep… usually Simon insisted on patrolling, and sometimes Samus with him, but tonight the Queen had made it clear that her forces could handle it. (And yeah; he’d believe it. Darknuts were hard to fight, but more importantly, Lynels were completely awesome in person. He had no idea they were actually so huge! Put animated suits of armour on their backs and he doubted anyone would threaten the castle.)
Tumblr media
When he heard footsteps out in the hall, at first he thought it was Simon disobeying the Queen’s order. Wait, no… that couldn’t have been. Simon was stubborn sometimes, but he would never disobey royalty. That, and the footsteps sounded far too dainty and quiet to be his- or one of the monsters, for that matter.
Kevin sneaked out of bed cautiously, leaving both his Power Pad and Zapper behind. He walked over to the door and turned the knob slowly, and opening it as little as possible- cringing whenever it made noise- and slipping out. Squinting down the hallway, he saw what he at first mistook for the Queen; but after following behind a few steps, he realized it to have been the original Zelda; the Princess.
He wondered for a moment if he should try and get her attention or not. Would it startle her? Would she get mad? Probably not… the Queen was admittedly intimidating, somehow; apart from the big suit of white and blue armour that she had nearby at most times. The Princess, on the other hand, was warmer and more inviting.
So, he decided to quietly make himself known while she was still in earshot. “Uh… Princess…?”
The sound of footsteps behind her causes Zelda to slow to a stop, and she can’t help but wonder whether one of the Darknuts or other monsters had caught her awake again. They’re all very kind, of course, being the queen’s guard, but the princess is still getting used to her new surroundings, and they scare her just a little... At least they don’t make too much of a fuss upon seeing her out of bed. Inability to drift off to sleep was a common one for the ancient princess, and lying in bed staring at the ceiling did absolutely nothing. So, she’s taken to reading on sleepless nights.
Though... Those footsteps are a bit too light to be a monster’s. Lord Belmont’s, perhaps...? Or that boy, Kevin’s...? Oh, dear. She’s gone and woken somebody up. How incredibly rude... Zelda finally turns around to greet her follower, hands finding their way behind her back. She manages a smile, though in the corner of her mind she can’t help but find it just a little embarrassing that she’d been caught wandering around in her nightdress by one of the humans in the palace.
“Kevin...” She greets him slowly, smile rearranging itself into a more concerned expression. “You should be sleeping. Tomorrow’s mission will be rather difficult, and I would hate for you to suffer because you did not get enough sleep. Is everything alright...? I hope I did not wake you.”
She would have joined their quest alongside Link, but the princess had only just been awoken from her centuries-long slumber. She was still frail, and while still capable of wielding magic, years of sleep had left her incredibly out of practice; Any spells she cast would not be as powerful as they ought to be. And that wouldn’t be fair on the team at all!

“Oh, Miss Lana--!”
Good timing! The princess had been hoping to speak with the guardian, and there she was! Zelda hastens to catch up, coming to a stop just before the brunette.
“I was hoping I might have the chance to see you again soon-- Are you free right now? Or did you have errands in Hyrule today?”

Night had long since fallen, and not a soul in the palace was stirring. The heroes were at rest, for the next day was to be a busy one-- Traces of Mother Brain’s army had been detected in Mido Town, and if the Queen was to be believed, they were seeking a potion that might bring the king of evil back from the dead. To prevent the army from gaining yet another ally, they were to retrieve it before Mother Brain.
...But Princess Zelda found herself unable to drift off. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that she had just spent hundreds upon hundreds of ears in enchanted slumber, or perhaps it was the tea she had drank before bed... Either way, the princess finds herself awake in the dead of night, wandering the castle in hopes of finding the library once more; So much had changed, it was like finding herself in an entire new world... And the thought of drifting off and everything having changed again when she next rises is admittedly a little terrifying.
She only hopes that she wouldn’t be waking anyone else. She’s not being particularly loud, but it’s so quiet...

( dark pit. )
Huh. This young boy looks an awful lot like the angel that assisted in ending the interdimensional war of years past. Were they related, perhaps? Twins? The resemblance is almost uncanny... At least, Zelda thinks this is how he might look a little older, at any rate.
...He seems kind of lost. Perhaps a helping hand is in order.
“Excuse me, sir--?” The princess approaches, smiling softly. Despite sensing powerful dark magic at play from the child before her, he doesn’t seem evil in the slightest. “Are you alright? I could not help noticing you seemed a little lost...”

( samus ):
Samus recognized the voice calling out to her, and immediately turned around to be greeted by Zelda herself.
“The one and only! Well, the one and only you know, that is.” She might as well use that introduction while she still can. “It has been a while, yes… I feel as though I was gone longer than I thought. Was I?” Sheesh, even Simon seemed to think so. Was she really that distracted?
“Oh, I’m not doing anything in particular. I’m trying to locate old friends and explore other worlds, and fortunately an old friend found me, it seems! How’ve you been since I was gone?”
By the Goddesses... The blonde before her was, to borrow a word from their dearly missed friend from Earth, cool. Stronger than any man Zelda had ever met, beautiful, and possessing a way with words that set her apart from the rest... It feels like an honour to be in the bounty hunter’s presence once more, and her highness’ cheeks flush at the introduction. Such an amazing lady...!
“I believe so,” The princess laughs lightly, “Though I do not hold it against you in the slightest. I imagine your line of work must keep you busy... I know my own has.”
Locating old friends, huh? Zelda wonders how that’s been working out. Hopefully well! She’s missed the old group that had formed during the war, and if she had the time she would do the same.
“That sounds lovely-- Have you had any success so far? I hope everyone has been well... I have been well, myself. Busy, as the Queen has seen fit to have me take care of this part of the land, but well. It was too stressful to split her attention between Hyrule proper and the bit of the realm that lay beyond the portal, so it is now my duty. It is nice, getting to be of use... Though without the lot of you staying at the palace, it is much quieter. I have missed everyone dearly... Might I accompany you around town, Miss Aran? Or would you prefer to go back to the palace? It is nearly tea time, after all...”

“Miss Aran? Is that you?”
Samus would soon be greeted by the Princess of Hyrule herself, who had just quickened her pace in attempt to catch up with her. Zelda looks slightly out of breath, though she tries to mask it-- Princesses don’t show weakness. (Though, having almost ran in heels and not tripped, one would likely say the princess is incredibly strong.)
“It has been some time since we crossed paths, has it not? You look well!” Zelda chirps, smiling sunnily. “What brings you all the way out here-- Oh, I do hope I am not interrupting anything important...”

So much could change in hundreds of years, and it never ceases to surprise the Princess of Hyrule. What was once a tailor’s now housed an inn, where the inn used to stand was a small eatery... Despite knowing and walking on these roads for as long as she could remember, Zelda finds it easy to feel like a stranger in her own country.
She’s been thinking of this today, having ventured out to the market in hopes of taking a break from royal duties... Unfortunately, the thought is so consuming that the princess doesn’t notice about that she’s about to bump into somebody.
“Oh, dear...! My deepest apologies. I was lost in thought, and got careless... Are you alright?” Blue eyes widen as she takes in the person before her.
Goodness, she hasn’t seen any of the heroes from the dimensional war in ages! And to think, she’s gone and walked straight into him! The princess flushes, smoothing out her skirts and brushing a stray lock of hair into place.
“Lord Belmont,” The princess smiles sheepishly, hoping to recover even just a little from her blunder. “It has been some time, has it not? Fancy running into you here in Hyrule.”

( eggplant wizard. )
The reigning Queen Zelda had long since extended an olive branch to the remaining monters plaguing Hyrule since Ganon’s defeat. To continue warring against them would only give the defeated king of evil more supporters, and with more supporters the more likely it as that one might attempt ressurecting him once more.
Thankfully for everyone, many monsters had agreed to become proper citizens of Hyrule.
...Though, the princess is certain she hasn’t seen any eggplant monsters waddling around! Not in the main Hyrule, nor the tiny province she manages! Despite sensing an aura of evil... Well, she wouldn’t call it evil... Malice, perhaps? Yes, malice! Despite sensing an aura of malice emanating from the creature before her, Zelda is determined to give him (or her? or them?) a chance. At the very least, she wants to know how the eggplant creature got into the palace garden without detection.
“Ah...” She hestiates for a brief moment, hoping the noise might alert him to her presence. ...And that she won’t be offending the monster with her next words. “Sir Eggplant? Hello!”
