My destination was Moma but I think these signs from the universe were more significant pieces of art. Thank you universe, for fighting for me.

A theme that I feel has been important in my life is the practice of self care. I call it a practice because it is something I’ve had to learn and develop, it does not come easy to me. It has taken me years of practice and introspection to figure out what works for me, what makes me feel better and what doesn’t work as well.Â
I think it started about two years ago. I was forced to come up with a morning routine because my lifestyle was making my mental health worse. I started to eat breakfast everyday, wake up at the same time and drink only tea. As soon as I started to follow a routine, I started to not only feel better but excel in school work. Little by little, I started adding things to my routine and creating boundaries. getting sleep was a must. Eating was a must. My basic needs were not being neglected anymore and once I had achieved this, I was able to move further. I realized that I enjoyed doing basic things. I started to really have conversations with myself to hear and feel what my body needs. when I take my first sip of coffee in the morning, I try to fully notice how it tastes and smells. Â When I eat, I observe how my body feels. I take these little things seriously and I call this the practice of mindfulness. It has transformed my thinking, the way I take care of myself, and the way I interact with others.Â

Food is attractive because of its color. This photo in black in white does not give the same attractiveness as it does in color. In color, I would want to eat all these apples. I would also appreciate the light that makes this photo warm. But in black and white, there is no warmth. It feels much cooler.

The staff was very friendly and let me take some pictures. The BLM pin caught my eye really fast. It’s bright red and demanding. Exactly as it should be.Â

I usually spend a lot of time smelling and touching samples. I think that’s part of the reason why I consider this a self care activity, it’s physically soothing. But this time, I couldn't touch anything. I couldn’t take my mask off to smell it either. This is what their store looks like now- very limited products that are already packed up to go.Â
