The people complaining don’t know and don’t care to learn how the MET Gala works either. Dior and LV aren’t showing each other designs, Law and Karla aren’t on the phone everyday talking to each other making sure the tens of people they style don’t wear anything similar.

Like you said, the idea was men’s tailoring and a lot of people wore suits. The idea isn’t the most out there or original, so there was a big chance someone was going to wear something similar. People wore a lot of black and white… again.

I have no issues with Zendaya’s look and I don’t think she did either. What I would say is that if you want to make sure no one will wear something similar to you, you got to come up with a real <out there> concept or find a vintage dress. If not, all bets are off.

It’s like slowing up at a huge Halloween party dressed in all black with cat ears or as Wonder Woman, Cleopatra or a famous superhero. The chances of someone else coming up with a similar idea shouldn’t offend you.

But you would have to check the temperature of the client before you do anything because if they aren’t in the mood to wear a dress to the MET Gala then you don’t want to presenting them with dress options because that just shows that you’re not listening to them and trying to do whatever it is that you want.

They are also not going to carry a dress in confidence even if it’s a good one if they aren’t in the mood to wear a dress.

They have agency and the final choice in what they wear, and you are there to make what they want a reality while implementing your creative input.

I don’t think anyone needed the look to be over the top or ostentatious. But Zendaya of all people having a reference pulled for her that is so basic that damn near four other people basically showed up in the same fit is insane. And the fact that one of them was exact is just embarrassing. It was lazy I’m sorry. Of course she pulled it off and looked amazing. In my personal opinion that doesn’t negate that THE Zendaya was matching with multiple other people in attendance. Didn’t happen for anyone else, should’ve never been the case for her.

First of all there is nothing basic about Mahogany or Bianca Jagger as references because those are phenomenal and underused references. Secondly, Zendaya is involved in all of her looks from concept to completion, she has a final say in how her looks turn out.

Third aside from the color and hat those were two completely different suits inspired by two completely different eras. Zendaya’s was three piece suit with a 70’s cut and silhouette, Anna Sawai wore a two piece suit with a 1920’s cut and silhouette so they clearly did not have the same idea or inspiration for their looks, it’s just a coincidence that they had a similar color and accessory. They also wore two different Designers so it’s not like the brands are sharing sketches with each other to make sure that the clients aren’t wearing the same outfit.

Those girls clearly wanted to wear suits for the Menswear theme and they handled it well.

Unpopular opinion but Z’s look being referenced by multiple other people in attendance is embarrassing. Law, Pharrell, and LV really dropped the ball this year. How do you have Zendaya out here looking like every other girl…. her look def seemed like an after thought for Law. And was not a great showing for Z’s first Met with LV. Not to mention it was so basic and boring. Not her best showing

I mean they have no control over guests coming in similar outfits because MET Gala looks are kept under lock and key until the actual event. They don’t know what the next person is wearing. Also the theme was centered around Men’s tailoring so I don’t know what you were expecting to see other than a sea of interpretations of a tailored suit. The Dandy theme wasn’t a theme that called for an ostentatious look, flamboyance, yes, ostentation, no, not every MET Gala has to be CAMP, that is only a recent phenomenon. The earliest MET Gala’s very simplistic when Diana Vreeland was in charge of it.

The theme was also centered around tailoring and she wore a three piece suit tailored to her liking. The way she carried herself embodied the theme because the point of being a Dandy is bringing attention to oneself whether it’s on purpose or unintentionally so her look served it’s purpose.

Do you have an idea of what designer zendaya is attending the met with?

Because of the theme and the Sponsor it would make sense for her to go with Pharrell’s LV or she could be paired to go with another brand at Anna’s choosing. If not Pharrell, I would love to see her go with Black Designer like Maximilian Davis or Grace Wales Bonner who does impeccable menswear.

I hope she doesn't tie herself to Jonathon. For you to say she loves his clothes is flippant. Literally no evidence of that!!!!

She literally wears his clothes in her every day real life, that is more than enough evidence of that. She really LOVES his clothes. Outside of Christian Louboutin, JW is the only other designer that she is loyal to when it comes to her personal wardrobe.

If he leaves Loewe for Christian Dior like the rumor mill is saying, I foresee her going right up in there to be their Brand Ambassador whenever her LV contract is done.

How long do you see Zendaya staying with LV? What brand do you see her becoming an ambassador for in the future?

They usually have a 5 year contract with their ambassadors but I can eventually see Zendaya being a Brand Ambassador for any house that Jonathan Anderson is leading because she loves his clothes.
