Tonight there was a terrible attack on Kyiv, 16 people dead, apartments and houses ruined.
Today I saw and smelled the sea, while visiting Dublin, for the first time since the war began in 2022. And I cried, I was sitting on the viewpoint surrounded by happy people taking pictures, and I was sobbing.
Because I grew up in Kherson, in the south of Ukraine, and the nearest sea beach was like a 1,5 hour drive away. And every year, every summer since my birth, I spent near the sea. That was a constant in my mind and soul - the earth is round, the sun is in the center of solar system, every year we go to the sea.
And now because of russians and occupation, I can't go home, I can't go to the sea, and I don't know if I ever will. Today I was crying because I was happy, but also because I felt the burning aching emptiness from not being able to see MY sea, and how it has been festering inside me all this time, like a wound.
Don't ask me to be understanding of russians, don't ask me to tolerate them. Don't you EVER ask me to even CONSIDER forgiving them.

Marika Isnât A Gooner Paradise

As someone whoâs, for lack of a better word, a âsticklerâ for lore-accurate depictions of charactersâeven when working within limitations (such as actual designs being left to inference based on related items and text)âone thing I kind of dislike is âGooner Marikaâ (dense and curvy in every way) or the butch and stocky âMuscle Marika.â
When we actually look at Queen Marikaâs design, itâs somewhat âawkwardâânot at all the kind of design youâd associate with a goddess of blessings and abundance. Take Gwynevere, for example: she has fair skin, lush brown hair, a full face, and more or less âthickâ proportions, especially in her breasts, hips, and thighs. Both Marika and Gwynevere wear more or less revealing garments, with Marika even going topless on what is likely more than one occasion.

Marika is incredibly tallâroughly 9 feetâpale, with broad shoulders, yet possessing rather thin, lean-muscled arms. Most of her body fat seems to collect around her lower body (hips, thighs, and butt), with a chest thatâs less than daunting compared to someone like Gwynevere. Her face is incredibly narrow, though soft-featured, with an average nose and somewhat thin lips, large eyesâsomewhat sunkenâand a high hairline from which long, lusterless blonde hair cascades, dragging at her feet. Her hair is rich, but appears almost a fading yellow, softâreminiscent of the âricherâ hues seen in her sons, Godwyn and Miquella. Her shattered modelâthank Godâis consistent with the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer cinematic.

Queen Marika is in no way ugly. I love her design so much. Itâs just... âplain,â for lack of a better word, especially when compared to most fan art depictions of her. She isnât Goon Pilled or Muscle Mommyâsheâs an awkward tall-lean combo with average, though beautiful, features. And I canât express how much I love her for this. I think it subverts expectations of a goddess meant to embody grace, sap, and maternal divinity.
I also like this, given her origins. Marika comes from a small, quaint village of spirit practitionersâall womenânestled in a vibrant, flowery meadow. The villageâs matriarch, the Grandmother, looks an awful lot like Marika herself: soft yet narrow facial features, a flat chest (unlike Marika, admittedly), and thin body proportions. Now, the Grandmother is a corpse in a tree, so sheâs probably emaciated because of thatâbut even so, Marika herself isnât exactly dummy thick year-round.
Plus, this makes Godfreyâs cut line about Marika surprisingly believable, LOL. He kneels before the Erdtree and tries to assure her that heâll take her into his arms once more. Godfrey is literally four feet taller than herâstanding at roughly 13 feetâand is a broad, muscle-rippling giant of a man.

And whatâs funny about âMarika the plain elfâ is that Radagon is her opposite in so many waysâbeyond just their ideals or sex. Heâs actually a few centimeters taller than her, has a darker skin tone, red-orange hair, and heâs thick. Barrel-chested, broad-shouldered, well-toned arms, a waistline and legs like damn tree trunksâhis body is absolutely ripped, dawg. His facial features are youthful, with a pronounced nose, a defined square jaw, and rather full lips. Like⌠no wonder Rennala fell for him.
Did I mention heâs caked?
To be fair, Marika is caked too.
The seemingly ârepairedâ images of Marika and Radagon are by Redditor Exbax (Soul Mender). While the skin tones are a little inaccurate, all things considered, he did a lovely job.

I wish I never wrote this but today three years ago russians commited the biggest terroristic act against Ukrainian defenders in captivity. Olenivka is one of many acts of massacre of Ukrainian defenders.
It's important to remember victims of russian agression not just amongst civilians but Ukrainian defenders as well. russian soldiers are especially cruel to them: they are cutting their mottos like "glory to russia" and swastikas on bodies, they are cutting off body parts and filming it. If you watched Stranger Things S4 â it just a tiny fraction of what russians are actually capable on just to bring suffering to people who are in captivity. They don't care about Geneva Convention or UN resolution about human rights. russians don't value us as actual human beings at all.
Below you can read more detailed post about Olenivka especially. Please, continue to support Ukraine. Remember that war isn't over. Ukrainian genocide is still on. I'm not using tags because it's just a common thing to think that it's muted by all the people because it's way too triggering but it's my reality unfortunately. And it's reality of every single Ukrainian. We can't just close our eyes and pretend that nothing happens.

"We have not forgotten. We will not forgive.
"...Bring me the screams of those tortured in cellars, prisons, and exiles. That my faith be granite, that my strength grow with ardency, that I go into a battle courageously..."
This year, for the first time at the national level, Ukraine honors those who were executed, tortured, and killed in captivity. The date of the Day of Remembrance was not chosen by chance â it is directly tied to Azov's history.
Three years ago, on the night of July 28â29, 2022, Russia committed one of the most blatant war crimes against prisoners of war: the mass murder of Azov fighters in Olenivka. After entering "captivity with honor" under the order of the High Command, the warriors of the Mariupol garrison were held in Olenivka Colony. Under the rules and customs of war, the Russian side was obligated to guarantee them adequate conditions and safety. Instead, the Russians orchestrated a terrorist attack.
Several days prior, 198 fighters from the Azov Regiment were moved into a specially prepared prison barracks. On the night of July 28, the prison guards forced all of them into the building, dropping hints about their impending death. Soon after, enemy artillery began firing near the barracks. At approximately 23:45, two explosions occurred inside, causing a fire. Forty-seven POWs died instantly. Over 100 service members were injured. For several hours, medics from other barracks and ambulances were denied access to the wounded. Only around 5 a.m. did the colony administration grant permission for evacuation.
Russian authorities accused Ukraine of carrying out the strike. However, neither Ukrainian nor independent experts were allowed access to the site. The UN Fact-Finding Mission for Olenivka, led by General Carlos dos Santos Cruz, was disbanded as early as January 2023. Ukraine continues to insist on further investigation.
Thousands of Ukrainians still endure the horrors of Russian captivity. We must remember every single one of them â like their parents, who are still waiting; their wives, who refuse to give up; and their children, who hold on to memories. Our sorrow is not one of silence but of action. Because remembrance is not just about mourning â it is about responsibility: the duty to bring our people home, to ensure none are forgotten, and to bring just punishment to the torturers so that this crime is never repeated.
Pause for a moment today. Think of those who were tortured and killed in captivity. Carry that feeling forward â to continue their fight, and your own. For Ukraine. Against the enemy. For the lives of those still held captive.
We testify. We take revenge. We fight."
