Metal pumps corrode especially in the presence of seawater. Zeus Numerix has designed a carbon composite seawater pump that can function with negligible corrosion. This centrifugal pump is more efficient than the corresponding metal pump with a 30HP motor replaced with a 25HP motor. Overall weight reduction is 44% with the pumping element 1/4th the weight. The pump has been tested for 100-hour endurance. The pump can handle seawater, brackish water, sewage, and slurry, chemical, and corrosive fluids.
